Alternative layouts may include Dvorak / bépo layouts as well. Are these
on the road map too ? :)

[Bug 1589997] Re: The device on /dev/sdx is not created when inserting new devices

2016-06-12 Thread Joan
Unfortunately I can reproduce the bug anymore, after installing 4.7rc2 the
devices appeared in my system but strangely the order was changed, so sda was
the removable disk and sdb the fixed drive, I did an dd to sdb (to create a
bootable pendrive) and screwed my system. So I'm now in a freshly installed
ubuntu (thankfully, only the first 2G where lost, so I could recover my /home/)
Feel free the close the bug as appropiate

[Bug 1589644] Re: Please backport biber 2.4-1 (main) from debian/snapshot

2016-06-12 Thread Nick Andrik
Subscribing ubuntu-bugcontrol and requesting to nominate this bug for
xenial release.

** Summary changed:

- Please backport biber 2.4-1 (main) from debian/snapshot
+ [SRU] biber 2.4

** Description changed:

- Please backport biber 2.4-1 (main) from debian/snapshot to xenial.
+ Please SRU biber 2.4 to xenial.

  Reason for the backport:

Current biber version in xenial (2.3) is too old for texlive-bibtex-extra
version (2015.20160320-1), as described in Bug 1565842 , making biber
practically unusable in xenial.
Backporting the most recent version (2.5) would still be a mistake since it
requires a (>>= 2016) version of texlive-bibtex-extra.
The proper solution is to backport the 2.4-1 version as was seen in debian.
This has been verified to function properly in the aforementioned bug.

  Testing:

Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the
checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing.

The original 2.4-1 version from debian/snapshot can be found here:
  http://snapshot.debian.org/package/biber/2.4-1/

The PPA build that was used for testing can be found here:

https://launchpad.net/~andrikos/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages?field.name_filter=_filter=published_filter=xenial

Probably, you can test-build the backport in your PPA with backportpackage:
  $ backportpackage -u ppa:andrikos/ppa -s xenial -d xenial biber

  * xenial:
  [X] Package builds without modification
[X] biber installs cleanly and runs

  Reverse dependencies:
  =
The following reverse-dependencies need to be tested against the new version
of biber. For reverse-build-dependencies (-Indep), please test that the package
still builds against the new biber. For reverse-dependencies, please test that
the version of the package currently in the release still works with the new
biber installed. Reverse- Recommends, Suggests, and Enhances don't need to be
tested, and are listed for completeness-sake.

** Description changed:

[Bug 1591862] [NEW] [Wishlist] Easy authentication via Bluetooth

2016-06-12 Thread vik
Public bug reported:

For some time, Android has allowed authentication using a paired
bluetooth device. This is particularly convenient, and somewhat secure
(not perfect, but convenience vs security...). Linux can provide
something similar through blueproximity or libpam-blue. However,
blueproximity is more or less abandoned, and is a pain to set up
properly. libpam-blue is similarly tricky to configure (I've not
tested). A quick and painless way to allow a device to be a 'trusted'
device would keep things more secure than autologin, but more convenient
than password.

Some extra thoughts: a companion app on a phone or smartwatch might
provide an extra layer of security, for example using a fingerprint
sensor, or noticing if the phone itself is locked/unlocked.

[Bug 1580558] Re: Upgrade libseccomp from 2.2.3 ->2.3.1

2016-06-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package libseccomp - 2.3.1-2ubuntu2

---
libseccomp (2.3.1-2ubuntu2) yakkety; urgency=medium

  * Fix autopkgtest, seccomp resolution now returns negative syscall
numbers for multiplexed calls, thus direct access symbols roundtrip is
via negative numbers. E.g. 373 -> shutdown -> -113 -> shutdown.

libseccomp (2.3.1-2ubuntu1) yakkety; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable LP: #1580558. Remaining Ubuntu changes:
- Add autopkgtests. (Closes: #788577)

recommended using proprietary drivers for trackpad. Here is the Dell KB
with the info: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN297219/EN

Just to experiment I tried doing the same with my Ubuntu 16.04 and
installed the drivers as instructed in the link. I haven't faced any
issues yet (its been two days).

[Bug 1591851] [NEW] creation of btrfs partition fails during install

2016-06-12 Thread Brendan Perrine
Public bug reported:

To reproduce on Lubuntu 16.10 run ubiquity and try to create a btrfs partition
during manual partitioning (something else) early in the installer it will pop
up an error message saying creation of partion on sda 0,0,0 failed. I tried to
create this and a swap partition.
ubiquity:
  Installed: 16.10.2

I expected the manual partitioning to create a btrfs partition. Instead
it failed and the install with ubiquity could not continue.

[Bug 1575899] Re: Text disappears after suspend

2016-06-12 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Henrik Blidh, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/574/0/1/CPUDRIVER_Ix-
4U/8/ an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated
BIOS is available (211). When you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the
situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1591845] [NEW] linux-image package packages errors keep preventing me from installing/uninstalling software and updates on ubuntu 14.04

2016-06-12 Thread Afaf
Public bug reported:

Whenever I try to update, upgrade or install anything this error occures
dpkg: error processing package linux-image-3.13.0-88-generic (--remove):
subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 linux-image-extra-3.13.0-88-generic
 linux-image-3.13.0-88-generic
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

And this is just an example...
I tried removing the linux-image packages that aren't the current one, and I
also tried the solutions suggested all over forums but none of them works.

The error was fixed by following line(commit e4e38121):
#include
+#ifndef __ASSEMBLY__
+
#ifdef CONFIG_PPC_TRANSACTIONAL_MEM
extern void do_load_up_transact_fpu(struct thread_struct *thread);

Since the tm.h can be included by an assembly and GAS will fail to parse
the C specific identifier like "extern".

I doubt why we need to compile against 3.13 since Ubuntu14.04.3 is
already with kernel 3.19 ( and 3.19 includes e4e38121).

I guess we are OK now per comment 15# (compile against 3.19). But please
let me know if I have some misunderstanding.

2016-06-12 Thread Shih-Yuan Lee

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1591818/+attachment/4682504/+files/grub2_2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.9.debdiff

** Description changed:

  1) Ubuntu 14.04
  2) grub2 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.8
  3) Executing `grub-install` will install platform files by i386-efi on 32-bit
UEFI BIOS.
- 4) It still installed platform files by x86_64-efi.
+ 4) It installed platform files by x86_64-efi instead.

[Bug 1591818] [NEW] Add support for running a 64-bit Linux kernel on a 32-bit EFI.

2016-06-12 Thread Shih-Yuan Lee
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu 14.04
2) grub2 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.8
3) Executing `grub-install` will install platform files by i386-efi on 32-bit
UEFI BIOS.
4) It installed platform files by x86_64-efi instead.

P.S. Ubuntu 16.04 doesn't have this issue.

[Bug 1574831] Re: Graphical glitch in live session

2016-06-12 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Kiwikaki, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

Could you please run the following command once from a terminal by ensuring you
have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for
attaching additional debugging information:
apport-collect -p xorg 1574831

When reporting xorg related bugs in the future, please do so via the
above method. You can learn more about this functionality at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1574682] Re: Xorg freeze

2016-06-12 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ahmed Noor Kader Mustajir Md Eusoff, thank you for reporting this and
helping make Ubuntu better.

As per https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4N68TM/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is
available (1301). When you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the
situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 ubuntu

** Description changed:

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on a Lenovo Yoga 2 13 and, after a few minutes
of working, the mouse pointer goes crazy. It goes to the bottom right
corner of the screen and flickers, clicking stuff randomly.

  * Adding a USB mouse and deactivating the trackpad makes no difference.
  * Tried Kubuntu 15.10, problem still there.
  * Tried suggestions in

  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2235704

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2229831=2=13451930#post13451930

  without success also.

As mentioned by other users, my laptop is currently unusable. I do not
want to switch to Windows but, given the current hardware I have, I do
not see how I can resolve this.
