[Bug 1584367] Re: Samsung printer automatically diabled; cannot print
Good morning Till, my bad! I totally forgot to mention that although the lsusb command sees my USB printer as "Bus 002 Device 010: ID 04e8:3297 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd ML-191x/ML-252x Laser Printer" the printer config tool won't detect it. Out of about thirty shots my printer got recognized / installed two times by plug-and-play but the result was the same as avbove: No printing, the printer got deactivated within seconds. I got so frustrated after spending a few hours of fiddling around and googling I tried a shot in the dark by using the lpd option -- and went on to print my airline tickets on a Windows machine ;) About using Samsung software: Some time in the process I downloaded the Samsung Unified Linux Driver (ULD) and installed it following their docs hoping that might fix it but it didn't... So: No USB Samsung printer detection and if the printer gets detected no printing -- this is valid for both scenarios (with or without the Samsung ULD). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584367 Title: Samsung printer automatically diabled; cannot print To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1584367/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1592990] Re: HCPGIR450W CP entered; disabled wait PSW 00020000 80000000 00000000 00004502
@ron-argent Please familiarise yourself with launchpad and Ubuntu bug tracking process, and specifically bugs that affect multiple releases and multiple packages. s390-tools, which has zipl component is fixed released in Yakkety Yak (development series to become 16.10) which means zipl there is now fixed. This bug is marked as affecting debian-installer, that is installer needs to be rebuild to include the updated s390-tools package. Once this is done, there will be another message saying that this is fix released for the debian-installer for the Yakkety Yak development series. Thus bug is marked as affeecting xenial series too, which is 16.04 LTS stable. This means that the affected packages will have to follow through Stable Release Updates procedure to backport these fixes into 16.04 series. Yes, ports.ubuntu.com is updated -> it has the new s390-tools package, for yakkety/ and devel/ series. But that's only one out of four updates that need to be built and published. A more user-friendly website to look up packages per series is http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=s390-tools For more information about Ubuntu bug tracker on Launchpad please see - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Bug%20statuses https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs In summary, one out of five tasks are done to complete resolve reported issue. [Bug 1580146] Re: [touch] Internet connection stops working while WiFi is still connected
@Andrea There are two tests I'd like you to run for me. First, let's verify the baseline by flashing OTA10 ( pre-NM 1.1.93 landing ) on a spare krillin, and then set the WiFi connection to the opposite as earlier suggested, this time setting ipv4.method to ignore. This will validate that IPv6 connections were actually working ( vs. just not causing DNS to fail ), even though the kernels lack support for IPv6 peer addresses ( which NM 1.2x always uses when adding IPv6 addresses, and which in turn always fail ). Second, there are three cases currently that I can see where NM adds IPv6 addresses ( note, there are more possible, but these are the most common when method=auto ): - NM always configures an IPv6 Link Local address with the peer set to the "Any" address ( all zeros or :: ); the code states that a LL address is always added for any method other than "ignore" - a VPN configuration specifies an IPv6 address ( in this case, our VPN always sets the peer with the interface identifier part of the address set to ::1/64 ) - an address is received via RDP ( router discovery protocol ); this is the case that happens when you associate to an AP that supports IPv6 and method=auto As I can't reproduce the last case ( my ISP doesn't support IPv6 yet ), it would be great if you could run NetworkManager in the foreground with an env var specified which triggers netlink debug messages. This will let me see what peer_address is being set when you connect to the work AP. If you want to send me these traces privately, that might be best. Please use a recent rc-proposed image. [Bug 1584367] Re: Samsung printer automatically diabled; cannot print
I see that you access the printer through the URI lpd://localhost meaning that an LPD server (port 515) must be on your local machine. Are you running some daemon on your machine to access the printer via a proprietary communication protocol? Some software you got somehow from Samsung (download or a CD supplied with the printer)? You should try two possibilities: 1. If you use software from Samsung, use it completely, not use only the communication daemon (if there is one) but also the PPD files supplied by Samsung. 2. If you want to use the software supplied with Ubuntu Linux, run system-config-printer (printer tool reachable from the System Settings) and click "Add printer" at the top. Then a dialog appears in which available printers are detected, first the local (USB, parallel, ...) ones and after around 10 or 15 seconds the network printers (note that your printer must be connected and turned on during this process). Select your printer and then proceed through the wizard. [Bug 1596085] Re: Installing nextcloud snap on Ubuntu Mate Raspberry Pi freezes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1591148 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591148 Hey Kyle, sorry for not dropping a comment here explaining the reasons for marking this a duplicate. In the other bug all the problem came from the kernel, not the distro or the arch, as the error message states. The default linode kernels are compiled without apparmor support, and that made snap install fail for every snap. Once I replaced that kernel with the distro one, which includes apparmor support, all went fine. The error message and the behaviour in this case are the same (kernel needs apparmor 2.4 compatibility patch, unable to find suitable fs in /proc/mounts, and hanging forever after trying to install a snap), seems to me like the same problem but of course it can come from a different issue, please feel free to remove the dupe if you think it needs proper research. [Bug 1574278] Re: AbiWord text cursor starts to flicker after adding some text
I was reading some post on the Arch site and it seems compiling with GTK2 rather than GTK3 resolved the problem. I just build 3.0.1-7 package from source on my machine (using GTK3). The flickering issue seems to be down to just the cursor but I have some other build issues I need to look into. FWIW the latest update is causing a conflict with libtidy on my system. Abiword want's the old libtidy-0.99-0 but the new libtidy5 (1:5.2.0-1) want's to have it's libs installed in the same place with the same name. As a temporary fix I uninstalled the old libtidy, installed the new libtidy5 and libtidy-dev. The only compile issue I ran into is ./configure looking for tidy/buffio.h wich is now tidy/tidybuffio.h. I just created buffio.h and linked it to tidybuffio.h. To get it to compile, do not know the consequences of doing so yet. As I said before I have some other build issues I have to address, but I do have the program up and running, don't want to hijack this thread with it but if anyone is interested please contact me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574278 Title: AbiWord text cursor starts to flicker after adding some text To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/abiword/+bug/1574278/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1575260] Re: Failed to start Daemon for power management.
@Stephen, I can confirm that the issue may be caused by the old (manual) /usr/local installation of the libraries as @Sebastien Bacher suggested in #7 Once, I've removed them, `ldd /usr/lib/upower/upowerd` finds libusbmuxd.so.4 in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ (previously, it tried to find libusbmuxd.so.2 (old) unsuccessfully). That is the issue ("/usr/lib/upower/upowerd: error while loading shared libraries: libusbmuxd.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory") can be fixed if packaged versions of libusbmuxd.so* from /usr/lib/ are used instead of old versions from /usr/local. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575260 Title: Failed to start Daemon for power management. [Bug 1562636] Re: battery percentage drops suddenly from 10% to 1%
At this time (OTA-11-20160524.1), the bug still persists.
