[Bug 1472639] Re: apparmor profile denied for kerberos: /run/.heim_org.h5l.kcm-socket

2016-07-20 Thread Kartik Subbarao
Not really -- in this case, all of the packages are pretty much
installed at the same time with automated processes.

In #1 above, Ryan Tandy mentions seeing these error messages too -- so I
assumed this was a fairly common sort of occurrence.

I've been working around this issue by adding a line to
/etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.sbin.slapd, and I'm okay with this workaround.
I guess I was assuming that the fix would be a simple patch to
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin/slapd to permit the socket (i.e. assuming that
Kerberos is fairly standard and it seems reasonable to allow a process
like slapd to access the socket if it has permissions to do so).

Given the amount of complexity that now seems to be involved, I'm
reluctant to (even implicitly) ask you guys to spend more time on this.
Feel free to pursue this as you want, but definitely don't feel any
pressure on my account.

[Bug 1604891] Re: The kernel version is different between mini.iso and ubuntu 14.04.3 LE

2016-07-20 Thread Steve Langasek
What do you mean by "mixed method"?

The mini.iso image can be booted from a CD drive, and pulls the files it
needs for installation from the Ubuntu archive or a local mirror.

If you are netbooting, the netboot.tar.gz is normally what you would
download and unpack, not the mini.iso.

Both of these images will tend to have a more recent kernel than the
most recent point release, since the point release is every 6 months and
the netboot image's kernel may change as frequently as once every 3
weeks (the kernel SRU cadence).

The point release CD image can boot from a CD drive and contains all the
files needed for a base install, without requiring network access.
Network access will be required for updates (including security updates)
and additional package installation.

[Bug 1275083] Re: [MIR] ubuntuone-credentials

2016-07-20 Thread Brian Murray
The unity-api-bugs team was created to subscribe to bugs about packages
such that the package to team associations can be tracked via scripts
using the Launchpad API. The reason a separate team was used was so
that the team and its members were not flooded with bug mail for the
packages to which the team is subscribed. That being said we move the
package subscriptions (https://bugs.launchpad.net/~unity-api-
bugs/+packagebugs) to the unity-api-team if that makes sense.

Do you have a specific guide or sequence you followed?

1. apt-get install slapd krb5* heimdal-kdc .. etc?

And then the various config changes applied?

I'll keep digging.

[Bug 1571865] Re: mysql fails to start after upgrade if previous defaults were customised

2016-07-20 Thread Robie Basak
I've spent some time testing this fix in Xenial. It was broken for two
reasons:

1) I failed to update the version string check in mysql-
server-5.7.postinst in preparing the SRU, so the migration code never
ran. This isn't a regression, just a failure to fix the problem as
intended.

2) On an upgrade from Trusty to Xenial, mysql-server-5.7 itself isn't
being upgrade, so again the migration code never ran.

The fix is to change the match to:
if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" le "5.7.13-0ubuntu0~"; then

I tested 5.7.13-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 from ppa:ubuntu-security-proposed as
follows:

I hacked the postinst in the binary package directly as above, to save
time. I used "apt-get --download-only" to pull all the binaries
generated from src:mysql:5.7, and placed the modified set (just mysql-
server-5.7, the others were just straight copies) into a local
repository, created Packages and Release with apt-ftparchive, and then
pointed apt to using "deb [trusted=yes] file:///root/repo /". I then
used this in place of the PPA for testing.

The cases I tested were:

Trusty to Xenial upgrade without local conffile modification: PASS
Trusty to Xenial upgrade with local conffile modification: PASS
Trusty to old Xenial package with local conffile modification (expected fail),
then upgrade to new Xenial package: PASS
Xenial to new package upgrade without local conffile modification: PASS
Xenial to new package upgrade with local conffile modification: PASS
Fresh Xenial new package install: PASS

The fix is now working as expected.

Francisco, thank you for testing the proposed update. Please note that
there are a variety of reasons that mysqld could fail to start. What I
am tracking in this bug is the specific case of an unrelated
customisation in 14.04 causing mysqld to fail to start after upgrade to
16.04 because previously valid default options will be preserved in the
upgrade and are now deprecated.

This is what this proposed fix fixes: it detects those specific
configuration directives and renames them, which should improve the
situation for most users in this fairly common case.

If there are other root causes that impact users, then I'd like to fix
them too, but we need to identify what those root causes are. To save
confusion, we should track them sepearately in their own bugs.

Logs should be in /var/log/mysql/error.log. If this is not the case, you
could be upgrading from a very old customised configuration where the
default configuration did not provide this. You need "log_error =
/var/log/mysql/error.log" directive. If your system is this old, it'll
probably be in /etc/mysql/my.cnf.migrated unless you have updated your
configuration to use the new scheme since. I hope this helps, but if you
have a reproducible unrelated issue, please continue in a fresh bug
report.

This isn't true, please don't make this state change, as publishing in a

[Bug 1597735] Re: Volume level should be remembered for role+output pairs

2016-07-20 Thread GTriderXC
I just wanted to add another bug but this one is pretty close to what I wanted
to report. As You see in the attached photo on Android we are able to change
three volume sliders.
Two days ago before falling asleep i listened to uRadio app: VERY quietly.
Suddenly I realized that the radio volume is the very same volume thats is
gonna try to wake me up a few hours later which can be a mission impossible.
Same stuff about incoming call volume and alarm clock: If we make the ringing
tone silent to be able to sleep, so thats nobody wakes us, the volume of the
alarm clock is silent too :-(

This would be nice because it would allow waiting in other upstart

[Bug 1604890] Re: update-notifier-hp-firmware upstart job doesn't make sense in update-notifier

2016-07-20 Thread Martin Pitt
Untested sketch: Add an udev rule like
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ENV{ID_VENDOR_ID}=="",
ENV{ID_MODEL_ID}=="", ENV{SYSTEMD_USER_WANTS}+="hp-firmware.service"

and add a /usr/lib/systemd/user/hp-firmware.service whose ExecStart= calls
/usr/bin/hp-plugin-ubuntu if necessary. Note that you probably need some shell
commands there, use

ExecStart=/bin/sh -ec 'shell code here; \
  more shell code there'

for that.

2016-07-20 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter

7.4.1~dfsg-1.1~ppa8.is.actually.7.0.5+dfsg-4.1~ppa2. The issue is fixed
there (comprehensive dialog when started without necessary permissions
and opening of console otherwise).

[Bug 1604630] Re: [FFe] 16.04 SAMBA missing winbind packages during install

samba-server currently does not function properly (or at least as
expected), this should only result in an additional package being
installed (libpam-winbind) when choosing the samba-server task.

When installing 16.04 server, checking "samba file server" during
install the following packages are not installed by default:

  libnss-winbind
  libpam-winbind

The effect is that while samba can join AD domains just fine, it cannot
enumerate domain users, i.e. "sudo getent passwd" will show only local
accounts, not domain accounts; also, an attempt to access a samba share
will result in "access denied". Specifically, the applicable log in
  /var/log/samba will have the lines:

Kerberos ticket principal name is [@]
  [2016/07/12 10:46:23.474798, 3]
../source3/auth/user_krb5.c:164(get_user_from_kerberos_info)
Username \ is invalid on this system

Once the missing packages are installed and services are restarted
(nmbd, smbd, winbind), the problem is resolved. Installing these
  packages creates /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_winbind.so.2, which is
needed for winbind to enumerate the domain users/groups for credentials.

In the distribution, checking "samba file server" should install the
above listed packages or at least the release notes should specify that
if this option is selected and one wishes to join an AD domain, then
  installing these packages is necessary.

  Thx.

[Bug 1604891] [NEW] The kernel version is different between mini.iso and ubuntu 14.04.3 LE

2016-07-20 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

---Problem Description---
mini.iso for ubuntu 14.04.3 LE is not available

Contact Information = gfga...@cn.ibm.com

---uname output---
~ # uname -a Linux (none) 3.19.0-25-generic #26~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 24
21:17:43 UTC 2015 ppc64le GNU/Linux

Machine Type = S822LC(openpower-firestone)

---Debugger---
A debugger is not configured

---Steps to Reproduce---
We want to boot from network using Ubuntu14.04.3. So we use initrd.gz from
mini.iso, and vmlinux from Ubuntu 14.04.3 full LE ISO. We use the two files as
booting files.

We download ISO from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/14.04.3/release/ubuntu-14.04.3
-server-ppc64el.iso

We download mini.iso from http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists
/trusty-updates/main/installer-ppc64el/current/images/vivid-
netboot/mini.iso

The kernel version of mini.iso is "3.19.0-32". But the kernel version of
14.04.3 full le ISO is "3.19.0-25".

My questions:
Can we use them by the mixed method? The mini.iso and the le full iso should
not have the same kernel version?
Or if the mixed method is not permitted, if I want to netboot ubuntu14.04.3,
where can I get the mini.iso or the netbootable initrd.gz?

[Bug 1604890] [NEW] update-notifier-hp-firmware upstart job doesn't make sense in update-notifier

2016-07-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug reported:

update-notifier ships a debian/update-notifier-hp-firmware.conf upstart
job. Ideally a such job should be included in the package it's
interacting with, hplip in this case.

We are also converting the user session to be using systemd so basically
it means hplip should be including an systemd user job (if that's still
something needed)

Doing that under systemd is probably best done using a udev rules
triggering a systemd service

[Bug 1472639] Re: apparmor profile denied for kerberos: /run/.heim_org.h5l.kcm-socket

2016-07-20 Thread Kartik Subbarao
Hi Ryan,

Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately I don't have much to add to
my earlier response in this thread. Here are the only kerberos-related
types of lines that I have in slapd.conf:

authz-regexp
uid=([^,]*),cn=([^,]*),cn=gssapi,cn=auth
ldap:///dc=example,dc=com??sub?(exampleKrb5PrincipalName=$1@$2)
sasl-realm EXAMPLE.COM
sasl-secprops minssf=0

As I mentioned before, I do have an /etc/krb5.keytab. ldapwhoami -Y
GSSAPI works fine. I don't know precisely how slapd ends up using kcm.
slapd is linked with libheimbase.so.1, so presumably it ends up calling
some heimdal library function that ends up accessing that socket.

[Bug 1604889] [NEW] I can't attach a photo to a bug report from bq4.5

2016-07-20 Thread GTriderXC
Public bug reported:

Take an Aquaris 4.5 and try to report a bug on Launchpad. Write a
"Summary" and try to attach a photo from a Gallery or take a new one
with a camera. After phone sent a file we should go back to the bug
description window. What presently happens is going back to an empty
"Summary" field. Over and over again. This is a problem with a browser,
not Launchpad.

[Bug 1542471] Re: Playing mp3 files causes: Problem occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or GStreamer.

2016-07-20 Thread fermulator
Same issue here on Fedora22. The "touch trick" did not work for me.

can't play MP3 files via Rhythmbox when the file source is a ZFS pool
:( -- it works fine from a non-ZFS storage device. (Fedora 22,
4.4.13-200.fc22.x86_64, zfs = 0.6.5.7-1.fc22, rhythmbox = 3.2.1-1.fc22)
-- anyone know of this issue?

I'm wondering if there's some sort of "setting" which needs to applied
to the pool. It's definitely a "rhythmbox integration" issue of some
sort ... as playing through standard gnome-player works regardless of
storage source.

The symptom can be reproduced in OOBE,
this is why I mentioned in subject of this bug and the meaning of "first boot".

[Bug 1525147] Re: webapp-container needs some help

2016-07-20 Thread Peter Bittner
The call to `printUsage()` happens in
`BrowserApplication::initialize()`, which is after the constructor has
been called. The base class `QApplication` seems to require a Mir server
(or X server) running.

Conclusion
--

- In order to be able to print the usage on the console without
requiring a Mir server this call needs to be made before the constructor
is called.

- It may also be a good idea to check all the command line arguments and
reject invalid ones. (Is there no module available for this, similar to
Python's argparse? Can we use QCommandLineParser?
http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qcommandlineparser.html)

The tests were disabled on powerpc back in March, as something was
causing crashes there, which don't happen on other archs, and we have no
way to reasonably debug it.
