[Bug 1603775] Re: can't upgrade backbox-ubuntu 14.04 to 15.04

2016-07-20 Thread Brian Murray
BackBox is not an official Ubuntu derivative and you'll need to bring
your issue to the attention of the BackBox developers. As far as I know
they don't use Launchpad.

Seems fine, but what's the story with debian/tests/client? Why does it
echo to stdout in the error case, instead of stderr and causing a test
failure that way?

You might also want a dep8 test for the python3 version. Or change the
client test to run python2-aodh and python3-aodh instead of just aodh.

[Bug 1604851] [NEW] Missing arm64 xmir binaries

2016-07-20 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

Currently we are not building xmir packages for arm64 as there was no
consumer for such binaries. With the current xenial plans and a
potential switch to arm64, we now need to provide arm64 binaries for
testing our Ubuntu Touch arm64 images (which currently cannot be built
without xmir on arm64). This is critical and crucial for our Ubuntu
Touch switch to xenial.

[Test Case]

Making sure that xmir builds on arm64. Currently no other testing means
are easily available, we need to have xmir building at all to build our
first arm64 rootfs and then dive into testing.

[Regression Potential]

No risk potential on existing platforms as it only involves packaging
changes enabling the new architecture for xmir. No source changes

[Bug 1603564] Re: USB unplug crashes system - Assuming host is dying, halting host

2016-07-20 Thread Guru Prasad
@brad-figg: I ran the command you asked me to. I was able to
successfully launch vncserver and run apport-collect in that. I presume
the command failed since it showed a backtrace in python and a long html
output. dpkg also warned me that package 'linux' was not found. I'm
attaching the full logs containing the output of apport-collect 1603564

[Bug 1604819] Re: intel driver (intel_drv) not loaded

2016-07-20 Thread Scott Moser
I chatted with tjaalton in irc. He suggested trying mainline kernel.
I pulled http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.7-rc6-yakkety/
now running 4.7.0-040700rc6-generic
with
$ dpkg-query --show xserver-common xserver-xorg-core
xserver-common 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu1
xserver-xorg-core 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu1

and the problem does not appear to be present.

I can't run the mainline kernels due to need of zfs and other ubuntu
sauce, but it does seem fixed there.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

 Occasionally, when I unplug my Android phone (connected over USB), my machine
crashes.
 At first, I presumed the entire machine had halted since the keyboard and
mouse stopped working.
 However, I'm still able to SSH in although the screen is completely
non-responsive. Pressing the power button on the CPU seems to bring up a window
with Ubuntu's power options.

Yes, I understand that. But "change default puppet service provider from
'upstart' to 'systemd'" is what I'm referring to -- where do you see
this? I need an explicit test-case so I can figure out where things are
wrong (esp. in the development release) and why.

As I mentioned in my last comment, *if* the upstart package was not
installed to begin with, I see no issues with puppet in 16.04. Was
this a 14.04 -> 16.04 issue?

More clearly, what is the basis (test case) for the OP statement of
"puppet thinks it's still upstart"?

[Bug 1604819] Re: intel driver (intel_drv) not loaded

2016-07-20 Thread Scott Moser
** Description changed:

 Hi,
 just upgraded and rebooted (been quite a while since I rebooted so lots of
things probably changed in the mix).

 The system initially logged in and my screen layout was lost (instead
 ie, the monitor on the left was on the right). I changed that back,
 logged out and back in.

 Now, occasionally and seemingly randomly the larger display goes black for
1-2 seconds during usage.
 It often occurs when switching desktops via hotkeys, but sometimes at other
random points.

+ After playing a bit, I'm pretty sure the reason is that I'm getting the
+ vesa driver instead of the intel one.

[Bug 1603183] Re: Right click from touchpad is handled as a left click

2016-07-20 Thread Daniel d'Andrada
Just tried on the touchpad of my Dell XPS L502x (2012 model).

Its touchpad has physical left and right buttons. They work fine with
the webbrowser app. The touchpad right click over a link opens a dialog,
just like with the mouse.

Maybe it's a hardware-specific issue.

[Bug 1604819] Re: intel driver (intel_drv) not loaded

I backed xserver-common and xserver-xorg-core previous versions and am now fine.
this works:

xserver-xorg-core 2:1.18.3-1ubuntu7

the latest versions (1.18.4-1ubuntu1) do not.

Previously (with 1.18.4-1ubuntu1):
$ grep drivers /var/log/Xorg.0.log

[18.553] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/vesa_drv.so

And with 1.18.3-1ubuntu7:

$ grep drivers /var/log/Xorg.0.log

[18.493] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/modesetting_drv.so

[Bug 1604819] Re: screen goes completely black during usage then comes back

2016-07-20 Thread Timo Aaltonen
This xserver doesn't load the intel driver anymore on gen4 and newer.
You can get previous behaviour back by copying the template xorg.conf
from /usr/share/doc/xserver-xorg-video-intel/xorg.conf to /etc/X11 and
restarting lightdm etc.

it could be a kernel bug though

[Bug 1604837] [NEW] Segmentation fault in plasmashell while showing program preview

2016-07-20 Thread arsiamons
Public bug reported:

This bug is happening on current Xenial (16.04).

See bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357895

It can be reproduced when hovering over the rightmost program in the
system panel, showing its preview. Then moving to the right until the
preview vanishes, and moving onto the program again. See movie (not
mine, but the same effect): https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=96613

In comment 28 is a workaround, that works for me too: "Right click on Task
Manager: Task Manager Settings -> Tab "General" -> Uncheck "Show tooltips""
In comment 39 is a possible fix linked, and in comment 43 is reported, that it
works for him too and in comment 45 it is officially used.

The affected part is reported as being the plasma-framework package of
version 5.18 (currently for Xenial installed: 5.18.0-0ubuntu1.1).

One crash report of me:
Application: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1".

[Bug 1604839] [NEW] x11 interface should allow getsockopt syscall

[Bug 1604737] Re: s390x installations are degraded due to failed setvtrgb.service

2016-07-20 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
xnox: Is stvtrgb using GIO_CMAP/PIO_CMAP?
infinity, https://sources.debian.net/src/kbd/2.0.3-2/src/getfd.c/
iterates conspaths, and open_a_console must succeed, wtih is_a_consoole
 return (isatty (fd)
 && ioctl(fd, KDGKBTYPE, ) == 0
 && ((arg == KB_101) || (arg == KB_84)));
no idea what GIO_CMAP and PIO_CMAP are
xnox: I meant to do the color setting.
xnox: But yes, that confirms my suspicion that they probably are, as
they're testing explicitly if a Linux VC IOCTL works.
xnox: So, the only error, IMO, is that they exit non-zero if none of
the scanned victims are Linux VCs.
xnox: Which would fail on any completely headless system.
ie: I could reproduce this on PPC just as easily.
I would suggest that if all is_a_console() attempts fail, you'd want
to exit 0, and then later, if setting colours on something we thought should
work fails, exit non-zero.
right
Ahh, and getfd exits 1 when is_a_console asplodes, so
setvtrgb:main() just needs to test for that and either exit 0 or attempt to
apply colors.
Just missing that one branch there, IMO. It never tests the return
of getfd(), it just assumes it got a useful result.

** Package changed: console-setup (Ubuntu) => kbd (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- s390x installations are degraded due to failed setvtrgb.service

[Bug 1604429] Re: Inserting a USB mouse disables touchpad input for Unity8

2016-07-20 Thread Daniel d'Andrada
1 - Open System Settings application.
2 - Click on "Mouse & Touchpad"

Uncheck the box named "A mouse is connected"

Touchpad should now work alongside a USB mouse.

[Bug 1491729] Re: dkms: add module build ordering for ZFS on Linux

2016-07-20 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Hello Colin, or anyone else affected,

Accepted dkms into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dkms/2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.7 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1576647] Re: mysqld is not restarted after postinst runs mysql_upgrade

2016-07-20 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
To verify I took a trusty, installed mysql.
It has a few internal DBs by default, but to be sure I added a minimal DB.
mysql> SHOW DATABASES;
++
Database
++
information_schema
mysql
performance_schema
testdb
++
Then I went for the upgrade.
Once as a check to Xenial and once for verification to Xenial-Proposed

Right after the DB upgrade with the container that runs proposed (and only in
that one) in I got:
mysql stop/waiting
mysql start/running, process 9264
And things are running fine.
=> Verified

[Bug 1577712] Re: mysql_upgrade is called twice concurrently on upgrade from 14.04

2016-07-20 Thread Robie Basak
Verified. This is tricky to test because it is a race condition, but I
have verified that it appears that mysql_upgrade isn't being called
twice, and I have also ran a test upgrade five times with no issues.

I examined /var/log/upstart/mysql.log before and after a test upgrade.
Previously, we were printing "Checking for tables which need an upgrade,
are corrupt or were not closed cleanly." there when running
mysql_upgrade from the upstart job. After a test upgrade to xenial-
proposed, we longer see this string, so it seems likely that mysql-start
was updated at the correct time. I also manually checked
/var/log/apt/term.log after a release upgrade to xenial-proposed and
this appears to be consistent with this. mysqld is running (still on
upstart) after an upgrade. After a reboot, systemd has started it as
expected.
