[Bug 1605074] Re: supertux2 has two mouse pointers (one should be hidden)

2016-07-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Tested supertux2 on:

Unity7: one cursor
Xmir: two cursors

Native SDL2 on Mir it just crashes so I can't test that. But given it
works in Unity7 it seems the common point of failure is Xmir.

[Bug 1605465] [NEW] can't save acls on disk

2016-07-21 Thread sles
Public bug reported:

Just installed fresh ubuntu 16.04 and ejabberd 16.01 from it.

I configured (yml) ldap authentication and declared myself as admin:

acl:
  ##
  ## The 'admin' ACL grants administrative privileges to XMPP accounts.
  ## You can put here as many accounts as you want.
  ##
  admin:
 user:
 - "dm": "jabber.mydomain"

Then started ejabberd and login through web interface.

I see that in host config acl database is in RAM (I'm back translating
from russian).

If I set it to RAM & disk then acl database file appears, but if I restart
ejabberd it removes file and
I see RAM in database config via web interface.

If I set only disk, then ejabberd dies with errors:

fine I think this is ejabberd bug.

[Bug 1604499] Re: include loopback and squash4 modules in EFI binary

2016-07-21 Thread Seth Arnold
./grub-core/fs/squash4.c :

There may be data format mismatches between grub2 and the linux kernel's
idea of squashfs:

These are the structures from grub2 for file and long_file:
grub_uint32_t block_size[0];

These are the structures from the linux kernel for squashfs_reg_inode and
squashfs_lreg_inode:
__le16  block_list[0];

squash_mount() checks grub_errno immediately after calling grub_disk_read(),
before checking the return code. C idiom is to check "errno"-style variables
only if an error is returned -- and also to set "errno"-style variables to 0
immediately before an operation if there's no error-return mechanism in place
to avoid errors from previous operations mistakenly linger. This is probably
not a security issue.

There are many calls to grub_malloc() with an arithmetic expression;
normally these are better replaced with calloc(3)-alike wrappers which
can check for integer wraparounds. I don't think any here are
exploitable but I could have made a mistake.

grub_squash_iterate_dir() has extensive memory leaks in the reading or
memory allocation error cases -- probably there's no recovery possible
if the system is out of memory when running grub2, but I figured I'd
mention it all the same. This is probably not a security issue.

./grub-core/disk/loopback.c :

grub_loopback_open() looks like it might handle gigantic sparse files
poorly; a file that's within GRUB_DISK_SECTOR_SIZE bytes of 2^64 may set
disk->total_sectors to a too-small value. This is probably not a
security issue.

Now that grub is part of a security boundary the grub_malloc() calls with
expressions should probably all be converted to using calloc(3)-style wrappers.
It probably isn't worth blocking this specific change on this conversion though.

Thanks

So whose bug is this exactly? It results in a poor installation

Issue is also present on Dell Inspiron 5559, which has an ALC3234 chip
too. Crackling sounds on the internal speaker, and a constant faint hiss
while using headphones (stops only while muted).

Gotcha, thanks. (I'm not using unity so haven't seen this re-appear.
Though I also don't recall it ever having been fixed)

[Bug 1550325] Re: gnome-language-selector is not MATE compatible [debdiff attached]

2016-07-21 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
On 2016-07-21 21:57, Alkis Georgopoulos wrote:
> Hi, this patch indeed caused bug #1501832 to resurrect.

There is an issue with the Ubuntu MATE live session, but I don't think
the fix of this bug is the primary cause. I could see the issue when
running a live Swedish session, i.e. the dead keys were broken.

On 2016-07-21 22:01, Alkis Georgopoulos wrote:
> Btw, when I experience this issue, `ps aux` shows [fcitx] .

Right. The fcitx-bin package is present in the live session, and it
looks like im-config tries to start fcitx but fails. The IM
configuration is inconsistent:

ubuntu-mate@ubuntu-mate:~$ env | grep -E '(_IM|XMOD)'
CLUTTER_IM_MODULE=xim
QT_IM_MODULE=xim
XMODIFIERS=@im=fcitx
QT4_IM_MODULE=xim
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim

Btw, the issue was present also when I tried a live Chinese session.

I would suggest that a separate bug is submitted about IM configuration
in Ubuntu MATE live session.

With that said, I have filed , and
when it has been fixed, making Ubuntu MATE work in the same way as e.g.
Xubuntu and Lubuntu in this respect would be an option. But that
wouldn't address this new issue for those who need fcitx in the live
session.

[Bug 1605035] Re: E: Unable to locate package unity8-desktop-session

2016-07-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The correct package to install right now is 'unity8-desktop-session-
mir', especially on Ubuntu 16.04.

It is however changing to the more obvious 'unity8-desktop-session' (bug
1376715) in Ubuntu 16.10.

Sorry, I don't know everything about the Unity8 architecture and
sometimes make mistakes in assigning bugs.

[Bug 1603183] Re: Bottom right area of touchpad no longer treated as right click

2016-07-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think this should be Low actually...

Like other modern platforms we should move to only using and expecting
right click via two fingers, rather than designating the bottom right
area (which only exists as paint, not in the electronics).

If you're using a modern clickpad it's really annoying in Unity7 that
clicking in the wrong area on the clickpad does something different.
Unity8/Mir should behave like macOS and ChromeOS in that you can only
right click with two fingers by default.

Make it an option to use the bottom-right by all means (so keep this bug
open), but I think we've got the default setting right...

** Summary changed:

- Right click from clickpad is handled as a left click
+ Bottom right area of touchpad no longer treated as right click

** Changed in: mir
   Status: Incomplete => Triaged

** Changed in: mir
   Importance: Undecided => Medium

** Changed in: mir (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: mir (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Triaged

** Changed in: unity8-desktop-session (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Invalid

** Also affects: libinput (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

- Using the touchpad I was not able to trigger any right click, and I
- tought it was a problem of how unity8 handled the right clicks. Instead
- I just tried with a mouse and right click trigger different actions from
- left clicks.
+ Using the touchpad I was not able to trigger any right click (with a
+ single finger in the bottom right area), and I tought it was a problem
+ of how unity8 handled the right clicks. Instead I just tried with a
+ mouse and right click trigger different actions from left clicks.

  In the end the problem is that my touchpad right click is considered a
  left click by the system. This does not happen with an usb mouse.
