NOTE that my Lenovo G50 BIOS release A2CN38WW(V2.06) was July 2015
and the other above mentioned Lenovo S435 BIOS release BBCN16WW(V1.07) was June 
2015
His PASS on Ubuntu mate 15.10 w/kernel 4.2.0 was due to older BIOS 
BBCN16WW(V1.03).

Hypothesis is still strong that this is due to a BIOS change in mid 2015 to fix 
VU#976132.
Kernel versions released after mid 2015 need to be patched. This is likely true 
for MANY different computer vendors which use common BIOS suppliers' code.

Ok, false alarm. It wasn't showing up because it doesn't seem to
reconnect automatically if I leave the headset on during a relog/reboot.
After using bluetoothctl to reconnect the headset, pulse seems to work
perfectly every time, so I am unable to reproduce the problem.

Given the original reporter's bluetoothctl info, I notice only one
difference between my headset and the one in the report, and that is an
unknown UUID. Here is mine for reference:

[Bug 1611188] [NEW] Bluetooth doesn't work after recovering computer from sleeping

I'm not sure which package is not working properly. I know the easy way
to solve the problem, which it doesn't make sense really but it works:

1. When the PC recovers from sleeping, the bluetooth indicator is dark
and bluetooth mouse doesn't work. First step is to click (with the
built-in laptop mouse, of course) on "visible" to turn off visibility.
Somehow the bluetooth is enabled, then.

2. Then you have to click visible to switch it on again. Then you click
on your bluetooth mouse and it connects in 0.0s.

If you don't follow these two steps and try to do other, more logical
things (like putting your laptop on airplane mode through the physical
switch, or turn off and on bluetooth) you'll get in trouble. Sometimes
you have to delete the mouse from bluetooth devices and pair it again.

The solution is easy, I've got used to it and it's superfast, but people
who don't find this procedure -which I found by luck- will get very
frustrated unless this bug is fixed.

Oh, I had this problem in previous Ubuntu versions (15.10, 15.04 and
maybe before) but at some point it got solved. I don't remember if I had
this problem after updating to 16.04, but I did a clean install recently
and got it back.

Drivers should be whatever drivers Ubuntu assigns to this hardware. There are 
no proprietary bluetooth drivers in the system configuration.

The unit I test has two DKMS installed: intel-hid and oem-audio-hda-daily.
Run:

Ok, an update. I can reproduce this in a way. My bluetooth earbuds seem
to work after the first pairing, and then after subsequent
restart/login, they may show up, but when selected don't work, and
sometimes they don't even show up at all, this is on yakkety.

I think the problem I'm experiencing is related somehow, but things may
be different since I am on pulse 9 in yakkety. I'll try and reproduce in
xenial as well again, but I otherwise still have something to work on
fixing.

Actually the bug that bug 1606501 is a duplicate of is fixed. I haven't
yet confirmed that 1606501 is really fixed too.

OK, I understand this bug is something you don't want fixed. And the
description of this bug alone makes it a low priority issue, sure.

However the implications of not fixing this bug are larger. That is
every time an app starts the user may see a flicker from black to the
real window contents. But I expect in due time someone will log a bug
for that specific consequence and it can be discussed elsewhere.

[Bug 1611180] [NEW] JPanel XOR Graphics Is Wrong Color After Scrolling A Combo-Box

Public bug reported:

Normally, XOR graphics in a JPanel works fine (and is the right color).

But if you open (expand) a combo-box, and scroll it, then select the
item that was formerly selected, the next time you do XOR graphics in an
adjacent JPanel, the color is wrong.

In this particular case, the color being XOR'ed is pure blue (0,0,255),
but instead of blue, it appears on the screen as yellow.  The graphics
area background is white (255,255,255).

I expected the color of the XOR'ed note-head ellipse to be blue (as it
was in openjdk-7), but it was instead yellow, but it only happens after
scrolling a combo-box in an adjacent panel.

This problem appeared when Open Java 8 became the default JRE in Ubuntu.
It happens in most (probably all) Ubuntu variants.

I will attach the source code of part of the application that does the
XOR graphics, and in that file, the following method does the XOR
graphics:

I will also attach a Debian package which will allow you to install a
30-day free-trial version of the KeyMusician Keyboard application, which
will allow you to reproduce the problem.

To reproduce the problem:

1. Run the KeyMusician Keyboard application (you can use the default,
pre-loaded soundfont of the Java Sound (Gervill) synthesizer).

2. When the music-staff is displayed, type some letter keys (or click
with the mouse in the musical staff graphics display area.  You should
see round filled dots appear, whose color is blue.  This is the expected
behavior.

3. Click on the combo-box above the "ASSIGNABLE" slider, which opens the
combo-box.  Then use its scroll-bar to scroll it all the way to the
bottom, and back to the top.  Then re-select what was already selected
("modulation", in the default Linux configuration).

4. Type some letter-keys (or click in the musical staff graphics area).
This time, the filled-circles (the note-heads) will be yellow.  They
will remain yellow, even if you iconify & restore the application
window, or click on other tabbed panels (for the different function
keys.
