[Bug 1618267] Re: RTL8821AE abruptly halts all network traffic
Thor H. Johansen, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. In order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically requested to do so. It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed. Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available. Thank you for your help. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1qcn32ww ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618267 Title: RTL8821AE abruptly halts all network traffic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1618267/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1618311] [NEW] Identical icons for "list view" and "more options".
Public bug reported: Attached is a screenshot of Faenza with the Adwaita theme applied to Nautilus. Note that the buttons in Nautilus for "view items as a list" and "location options" are identical. This makes it hard to know what button to click. The tooltip does disambiguate it, but has a delay. Other themes use three vertically stacked dots for the "options" menu; it might be a good idea to do this in Faenza too. This is also visible in other applications eg. gitg. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release:16.04 $ apt-cache policy faenza-icon-theme faenza-icon-theme: Installed: 1.3.1-1 Candidate: 1.3.1-1 Version table: *** 1.3.1-1 500 500 http://mirror.optus.net/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://mirror.optus.net/ubuntu xenial/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: faenza-icon-theme (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "faenza.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618311/+attachment/4730498/+files/faenza.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618311 Title: Identical icons for "list view" and "more options". Re: [Bug 1443853] Re: Ubuntu 14.10 ISO live boot in Oracle VirtualBox ends up with a corrupted display
Hello, Short answer (mobile mail). On the whole a bug with a workaround is usually (understandably) less important to people than one without. I am slightly surprised that Canonical have not looked at this since I have provided a fix which may well be acceptable as is, but of course I do not presume to try to tell them what their priorities should be. [Bug 1618299] [NEW] IPv6 with LVS Performance issue in latest 3.13LTS kernels
Public bug reported: We experienced a major performance regression between 12.04's 3.2 kernels and 14.04's 3.13 kernels when using IPv6 with the LVS load-balancing facility. Through analysis of perf events and a workaround we've determined that an upstream fix is available which addresses the issue. Ubuntu has picked up the "IPv6: remove rt6i_genid" fix that appears to address our issue in their 3.16 and later kernels. This was checked into the upstream 3.16 kernel back in late 2014. This fix addressed an issue introduced by the (late 2012) "ipv6: use net->rt_genid to check dst validity", which is the source of our issue due to the mismatch between a dst/route instantiation's rt6i_genid and the IPv6 rt_genid field. Since we have drivers and other software tied to the 3.13 kernels in the field this report is requesting that the backport of that upstream fix be done to the 3.13 LTS kernels as well since we were planning on several more years for those deployed systems. It seems relatively straight-forward. In our 3.13 kernel we used the "systemtap" facility in a test system to temporarily address the "obsolete" determination mistakenly made by the ip6_dst_check() function to check dst validity on behalf of the LVS (ip_vs) code. By updating rt6i_genid to the current global value we were able to restore our test systems to the previous performance obtained with the 3.2 kernels. But clearly we want the official upstream fix incorporated, which pulls the troublesome rt6i_genid field out altogether since its mishandling affected more than IPv6/LVS support based on the upstream mail threads. Those were made in mid-2014 to the upstream kernel folks, such as a per-socket route caching issue. Note that the apport-bug collected info from a 3.13.0-87 system but we see the issue on all 3.13.0-xxx kernels. [Bug 1586705] Re: dell inspiron 5000 won't wake from suspend
Tim, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 4.4 to 4.6.0 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. [Bug 1618288] [NEW] wget using "if-modified-since" is not idempotent and corrupts downloaded copy of website on second use
Public bug reported: I use wget to copy a web site from one server to another, adjusting file suffixes and paths. Since updating to 16.04 LTS from 14.04 the command that I used previously has begun corrupting the destination site on second and subsequent invocations. The options relevant to the problem seem to be -N (use timestamping), -k (convert links) and -E (adjust extensions). The problem arises with linked files whose names do not end in .html. On the first invocation everything is good: file foo.txt is downloaded and linked as foo.txt. On the second invocation the wget log (option -v) suggests that it has examined foo.txt on the server, but then it reports "File '/foo.txt.html' not modified on server. Omitting download." and then it changes the link in the referring file to foo.txt.html. I think this is a bug. Do others have an opinion? Workaround: include the option "--no-if-modified-since" which seems to restore the old, correct behavior. Thanks. P.S. The full command that misbehaves is: wget -nH -r -E -k -N -x -l inf -P "http://" ** Affects: wget (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: ubuntu => wget (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618288 Title: wget using "if-modified-since" is not idempotent and corrupts downloaded copy of website on second use To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wget/+bug/1618288/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1618286] [NEW] Critical security flaw: Missing crl-verify openvpn option
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Many VPN providers will give a Certificate Revocation List crl.pem file in their OpenVPN packages. The CRL list is becoming increasingly important after the Heartbleed bug was exposed, leaving many servers vulnerable to attack by unauthorized certificates. Is there any way to manually pass the option 'crl-verify crl.pem' to openvpn by editing a file somewhere? I'm having a difficult time understanding how the network-manager-openvpn client actually works, and what arguments it can actually receive, given that it doesn't 'truly' import .ovpn configuration files. I also have little clue where the configurations are written in the file system as there are no manual pages and no debugging/terminal output for the network-manager-openvpn client. I can't even find the godforsaken binaries after installing the package. It would be much better if one could literally just pass it a .ovpn file, but seeing as that's not possible, I must request that the crl-verify option is added in the near future so that my system is not vulnerable to attacks using unauthorized certificates. ** Affects: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: crl openvpn ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public Security -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618286 Title: Critical security flaw: Missing crl-verify openvpn option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-openvpn/+bug/1618286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor
Same here. Ubuntu 16.04. ASUSTek Radeon HD 5750 Formula card and Sabrent DisplayLink, with Dual Dell S2440L monitors connected to the ASUSTek card and a ViewSonic VX922 monitor connected to the Sabrent device via native DVI. Heavy flickering on the mouse cursor with updating of the DisplayLink device. I have it set up so I can see the blinking light and notice that when it flickers the mouse cursor flickers on both the primary display and the secondary display, but not the one connected to the DisplayLink device. No flickering there at all. Another problem is that responsiveness seems slower on the other displays since connecting the DisplayLink device. I ran the Unity Support test and it shows that Unity is supported. $ /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p OpenGL vendor string: X.Org OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD JUNIPER (DRM 2.43.0, LLVM 3.8.0) OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.0 Not software rendered:yes Not blacklisted: yes GLX fbconfig: yes GLX texture from pixmap: yes GL npot or rect textures: yes GL vertex program:yes GL fragment program: yes GL vertex buffer object: yes GL framebuffer object:yes GL version is 1.4+: yes Unity 3D supported: yes It is really seeming to bog down the performance of the system's other displays. [Bug 1536380] Re: i3wm requires first log in to unity before bluetooth will work
it appears as if the pulsaudio bluetooth discover module isn't loaded when you go straight to i3. this is strange because I've modified the pulseaduio startup scripts (per an askubuntu posting) to make sure that this module is started at pulseaudio start. The solution is to add the following to your .i3/config: exec pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover And then use bluetooth-aplet to pair and connect and pavucontrol to set the audio source to your headset -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1536380 Title: i3wm requires first log in to unity before bluetooth will work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blueman/+bug/1536380/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
