Sorry to post so soon again, but here is the recipe to reproduce. Get an
image that is 2x as high as monitor.

In geeqie,
1. Float the file list
2. In preferences, on 3rd windows tab, set
a. fit window to omage
b. limit window when autosizing (problem same if you pick 100% or smaller.

If I unfloat the file list, then large images scroll fine.

[Bug 1470691] Re: 1.2 regression: image blur after scrolling

2016-10-14 Thread pauljohn32
Nobody else sees this "scroll distortion" problem?

I installed Ubuntu 16.10 and when all the new packages were installed,
guess what? That distortion that causes very large images to be
distorted when scrolling up is back.

I have installed every other image viewer I can find and none of them
have this trouble, feh, gwenview, viewnoir, phototonic, and 6 or so
other ones I'd never heard of before.

I don't seee everybody else afflicted with this problem, there are just a
few of us. It is exactly as I described it originally, a large image
that starts "off the bottom of the screen" never clears up when I scroll
up.

Problem is same if I use the Nvidia or Intel graphic devices.

[Bug 1632415] Re: package gconf2 3.2.6-3ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed

2016-10-14 Thread clickwir
Was going through the regular GUI upgrade process from 16.04, message
kept coming up dozens of times. After clicking CLOSE on about the 20th
one, I just held ENTER until they went away. Upgrade continued, gave a
message at the end that something didn't install right and my system
might be unstable.

After the upgrade process was done, I manually ran apt update and dist-
upgrade, it found several more things to do. Those all completed without
issue, rebooted and everything is fine so far.

[Bug 1604313] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: system freezes instead of suspend after undocking

2016-10-14 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
brandon211, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel
4.7-rc7 to 4.8.1 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed
immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been
identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this
following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of
bisecting.

It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has
been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1618782] Re: wifi stops functioning briefly after connecting to network

2016-10-14 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Kgorbi:
1) To keep this relevant to upstream, one would want to continually check for,
and test the latest mainline kernel (now 4.8.1) as it is released. Could you
please advise?
2) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

This seems to be an interesting bug. Iagno's audio works correctly in
Ubuntu-MATE, but no sound in Cinnamon 3.07 on the same machine. And I
installed Manjaro Linux Cinnamon edition on my Dell laptop & no audio
from Iagno either, while in Archwiz Linux using XFCE it plays fine.

Interesting.

[Bug 1623530] Re: Apport should be disabled by default

2016-10-14 Thread Luis Alvarado
Just if anybody is wondering, apport came enabled by default on Ubuntu
16.10 and in I would say 15 minutes of installing it from scratch I had
already 5 error reports, again, of things that were fixed automatically
when the app reloaded itself. It just pushes the entry point of Ubuntu
for new users away from being easy.

It seemed like it happened every time at first, but it's really only

[Bug 1611360] Re: Xenial 32-bit: multipath exits with SIGSEGV

2016-10-14 Thread Jon Grimm
OK, I've verified I can reproduce the segfault with a 32-bit i386 xenial kvm
guest. Much futzing around to get the scsi multipathing working, I'll doc
that when I get a chance so I can reproduce, but wanted to document the test
results and make my fix available via PPA for others.

Before fix:

ubuntu@x32multipath:~$ sudo multipathd -k
multipathd> show paths
ubuntu@x32multipath:~$

But, dmesg shows the segfault:

blows up as per submitter ^^^

After update with fix:

ubuntu@x32multipath:~$ sudo multipathd -k
multipathd> show paths
hcildev dev_t pri dm_st chk_st dev_st next_check

multipathd>

So, looking good. Will get back to this next week.

If anyone else seeing this problem is interested in testing the fix:

Available via PPA (has yakkety and xenial, but I've only tested xenial):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jgrimm/multipath-1611360
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

cheers,

[Bug 1626371] Re: cdc_ether fills kernel log

2016-10-14 Thread Keith McClelland
I've had the same problem with every 4.8 I tried including the one that
is in the brand new Ubuntu 16.10 (4.8.0-22) [via live cd, not
installed!]. My computer is a Surface Pro 3 which uses a Marvell chipset
in the docking station. I'm pretty sure I have updated to the latest
mwifiex in my installed 16.04.

The computer does seem to work, but syslog grows by several lines per
second (but now and again it skips a few seconds while it's worrying
about a limit and then away it goes again).

[Bug 1628258] Re: unsupported dictionary type: pgsql (/usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so: No such file or directory)

2016-10-14 Thread Trev Peterson
Maybe I'm missing something but doesn't the file I posted have the exact
contents you just said it should? I would also point out that the fix
for me was to do this:

cd /usr/lib/postfix
ln -s postfix-pgsql.so.1.0.1 dict_pgsql.so

That was needed because there was no /usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so file
after the install only /usr/lib/postfix/postfix-pgsql.so.1.0.1 . Maybe
I'm missing something but I don't see that this is fixed.

has to be disabled according to this issue:

[Bug 1633172] Re: Linux 4.8 as in 16.10 hangs during boot

2016-10-14 Thread Armin Kunaschik
I did some more reboots and got me a screenshot from 4.8rc1 crash.
I switch to the first console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) as soon as the graphical login
screen appears.
I'll try to catch one for kernel 4.8.0-22. So far there is no output. The
cursor at the login prompt simply disappears and the VM hangs.

Kernel 4.8rc1 hangs too.

I remember I saw a similar message once with kernel 4.8.0-22, but
unfortunately didn't save it.

[Bug 1441296] Re: Nautilus invisible focused item when selecting files with Ctrl and arrow keys

I have to say that the problem persist on Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak.
By other hand, How we can only put a orange line below the file that has the

I say that because in Antergos with KDE plasma 5.8, " Dolphin" (File manager)
has something similar and I like that.

[Bug 1628258] Re: unsupported dictionary type: pgsql (/usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so: No such file or directory)

2016-10-14 Thread Scott Kitterman
OK. That explains your problem. It should look like this now:

# Postfix dynamic maps configuration file.
#
#type location of .so fileopen function (mkmap func)
# =
tcp /usr/lib/postfix/dict_tcp.sodict_tcp_open
sqlite /usr/lib/postfix/dict_sqlite.so dict_sqlite_open
pgsql /usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so dict_pgsql_open

I checked and the current Debian packages at least change this on
upgrade to point to the correct location, so I don't think this is a
bug. I suspect during an upgrade you got asked if you wanted to keep
the old or new version of the file and you opted for the old one. It's
possible that something changed between 3.1.0-3 (in Ubuntu 16.04) and
3.1.0-5 (in Debian Unstable and Ubuntu 16.10). If that's the case, then
Ubuntu might want to look into a post-release update for 16.04.

[Bug 1633643] [NEW] unnecessary dependency upon isc-dhcp-client

2016-10-14 Thread ben thielsen
Public bug reported:

with xenial-updates, there is suddenly a dependency [isc-dhcp-client]
not previously there. please mark this as recommends/suggests/enhances
instead of as a depends, as it is not critical to the core functionality
of the software. since ubuntu now defaults to installing recommends
unless configured otherwise, this compromise accommodates both the
unskilled users as well as those who know what they are doing and have
disabled automatic installation of suggested packages.
