[Bug 1635996] [NEW] Libreoffice temporarily hangs / freezes Ubuntu 16.10
Public bug reported: Using LibreOffice-Writer and running of the IGP ( (Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 (Skylake GT2) / Mesa 12.0.3 ) causes LibreOffice and the Ubuntu Desktop interface to become unresponsive every few minutes. This freezing will last about five seconds before everything works again. When i keep typing while everything freezes the text will appear after the system becomes responsive again. This only happens when i use the Intel HD Graphics 530 IGP. When using the Nvidia Driver Quadro M2000 and it's Nvidia driver for the graphics everything is fine. [Bug 1614308] Re: kwin crashes when booting from Kubuntu 16.04 32bit Live-DVD
After some experimenting and google'ing, I think I figured out, what the reason for this issue is: kwin of Plasma 5 seems to require the "SSE2" CPU extension, which my Athlon XP 3000+ CPU does not have (it just has MMX, 3DNow! and SSE). See also here: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15594 This sounds very related to my issue. So now the question is: Is it intended that Kubuntu with Plasma 5 only runs on SSE2 CPUs or is it a bug (maybe wrong Package used?) If it is intended, then this should be 1) communicated on the web-page! 2) catched during Live-DVD boot instead of letting kwin crash. If it is a bug, it should be fixed of course. :-) I hope for the latter because I would really love to run Plasma 5 / Kubuntu on that particular machine. ** Bug watch added: bugs.mageia.org/ #15594 https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15594 ** Summary changed: - kwin crashes when booting from Kubuntu 16.04 32bit Live-DVD + Booting from Kubuntu >=16.04 32bit Live-DVD crashes on CPUs w/o SSE2 ** Description changed: When booting from a freshly burned Live DVD using images - kubuntu-16.04-desktop-i386.iso or - kubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-i386.iso + kubuntu-16.04-desktop-i386.iso or + kubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-i386.iso kwin always crashes on my system. Booting works fine until the plasma background image is appearing. Also the selection window whether you want to "try" or "install" Kubuntu shows up, but only without window frame. At about the same time I get a crash notification that kwin has crashed. If I click on "restart" in the crash notification, then after some trials another window (without frame) says: "KWin is unstable. It seems to have crashed several times in a row." and suggests to select another window manager. Of course the Kubuntu ISO does not contain another window manager. [Bug 1631361] Re: fails to start in ubuntu 16.10 amd64.
Dear Ubuntu maintainers, I am the freeplane package maintainer for Debian. As you can see in this bug report, freeplane in Ubuntu 16.10 is broken due to a broken knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-1 update (synced too early [1]), and the (proposed) fix is to sync knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-2 (as 5.2.0-1.1) from Debian testing/unstable to Ubuntu 16.10. ubuntu-motu suggested to create a SRU for this, which I am requesting now. [Impact] Freeplane fails to load OSGi bundles because the knopflerfish jar misses an "exports" file. The other r-dep of knopferfish-osgi (libwoodstob-java) is a library that should fail as well (the "exports" file is needed and was present before the broken upload in 5.1.0+dfsg1-3's knopflerfish.jar!). The fix in knopflerfish 5.2.0-2 is to generate a file "exports" during the build. [Test Case] - Install freeplane: $ sudo apt-get install freeplane - run freeplane: $ freeplane --> it will fail to start (for the exact exception log, see above) Ubuntu 16.10 users affected by the bug have confirmed that freeplane starts with the fix (see above). [Regression Potential] There could _possibly_ be another issue in Ubuntu's knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-2, and in this case, r-deps of knopflerfish-osgi would still not work. But since they currently do not work, there is nothing to lose. Attached is a debdiff between knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-1 and 5.2.0-2 (Debian). As suggested by #ubuntu-motu, I changed the changelog entry to 5.2.0-1.1, for Ubuntu 16.10. Please tell me if I'm missing anything. Freeplane has quite a few users, and I would like to make this package functional in Ubuntu 16.10. [1] Can we do something about this? Cheers and Best Regards, Felix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1631361 Title: fails to start in ubuntu 16.10 amd64. [Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps
Nearby GPS positioning has got many problems. It is a very slow process at phone start-up and it doesn't work very well in my opinion. I'm in Italy, in Rome, and before to find the exact location, it takes always at least 4/5 attempts: it's frustrating. My phone is a BQ Aquaris E5. I have to tell also that same problems I find with HERE, Google Maps and uNav, sign that this is a Ubuntu Touch general problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1481240 Title: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nearby-scope/+bug/1481240/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1635977] [NEW] Dovecot LDA w/ Sieve panics on deliver - bad file descriptor
Public bug reported: After upgrading my mailserver to 16.04 I noticed that LDA delivery from Postfix->Dovecot->my IMAP mailbox was intermittently failing. The logs showed "dovecot: lda(daniel): Panic: epoll_ctl(del, 10) failed: Bad file descriptor" A Google search led me to a Dovecot mailing list bug report[0] from March, and the subsequent reply[1] that led to a patch[2] from the maintainers to lib-sieve that addresses the bug at fault. Applying the patch commit[2] to my local Dovecot has fixed the panics and mail delivery is once again reliable. Thanks so much!
