[Bug 1635996] [NEW] Libreoffice temporarily hangs / freezes Ubuntu 16.10

2016-10-23 Thread Giraffe
Public bug reported:

Using LibreOffice-Writer and running of the IGP ( (Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD
Graphics 530 (Skylake GT2) / Mesa 12.0.3 ) causes LibreOffice and the Ubuntu
Desktop interface to become unresponsive every few minutes. This freezing will
last about five seconds before everything works again.
When i keep typing while everything freezes the text will appear after the
system becomes responsive again.

This only happens when i use the Intel HD Graphics 530 IGP. When using
the Nvidia Driver Quadro M2000 and it's Nvidia driver for the graphics
everything is fine.

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-10-23 Thread Sander Jonkers
I have the same problem with a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.10 / yakkety
on my HP Stream 13.

The workaround "sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service" works
for me: it removes the up-down-arrow, and gives back the beam symbol
showing the available wifi networks.

I have no file /etc/systemd/system/wifi-resume.service, so I can't use
the workaround from http://askubuntu.com/questions/761180/wifi-doesnt-
work-after-suspend-after-16-04-upgrade/761220#761220

FWIW: I've an Intel Wifi too:

[Bug 1635988] Re: Update nautilus to 3.22

2016-10-23 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  Notable new features and changes:
  - The view menu has been consolidated into a single "hamburger" menu with a
separate toggle in the toolbar to switch between icon and list view.
  - Batch renaming is integrated. Just select multiple files then Rename.
  - File compression and decompression is integrated.
  - Nautilus standardized its coding style. This means that every Ubuntu patch
had to be rebased.

  https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/nautilus-3-22-news-changes/
  https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/tree/NEWS

nautilus 3.22 is in the GNOME3 Staging PPA (currently for yakkety only)

  To Do
  =
- - The integrated compression feature requires gnome-autoar to be promoted to
main.
- - The interactive-search feature drops the first character typed. To select
the Downloads folder, I have to type 'ddow' instead of just 'dow'. The first
'd' opens the interactive-search edit field.

[Bug 1635991] [NEW] [MIR] gnome-autoar

2016-10-23 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Availability

Synced with Debian and it's intended for this to stay in sync. Built for all
supported architectures.

Rationale
=
Required for nautilus 3.22+. It's used for nautilus' new integrated compression
feature. It is briefly described with screenshots (among other 3.22 features)
at https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/nautilus-3-22-news-changes/

Security

No known security issues

Quality assurance

Maintenance
===
- Actively developed upstream (only one release so far though)

- Considered a "core GNOME dependency"
https://git.gnome.org/browse/jhbuild/tree/modulesets/gnome-suites-core-deps-3.22.modules#n357

- Packaging maintained by the Debian GNOME team.

Background information
==
Originally, the library was created as part of a 2013 Google Summer of Code
project:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Outreach/SummerOfCode/2013/Projects/TingWeiLan_GnomeArchives

gnome-autoar is also used by Evolution. (Despite what the page above
implies, gnome-autoar support has not been merged into either Empathy or
Epiphany.)

Interestingly, Nautilus with gnome-autoar appears to be able to handle
the .7z format but I don't think file-roller can do that without either
p7zip-full or unar being installed.

[Bug 1614308] Re: kwin crashes when booting from Kubuntu 16.04 32bit Live-DVD

2016-10-23 Thread Lars Bischoff
After some experimenting and google'ing, I think I figured out, what the
reason for this issue is:

kwin of Plasma 5 seems to require the "SSE2" CPU extension, which my
Athlon XP 3000+ CPU does not have (it just has MMX, 3DNow! and SSE).

See also here:
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15594
This sounds very related to my issue.

So now the question is:
Is it intended that Kubuntu with Plasma 5 only runs on SSE2 CPUs or is it a bug
(maybe wrong Package used?)

If it is intended, then this should be
  1) communicated on the web-page!
  2) catched during Live-DVD boot instead of letting kwin crash.
If it is a bug, it should be fixed of course. :-)

I hope for the latter because I would really love to run Plasma 5 /
Kubuntu on that particular machine.

** Bug watch added: bugs.mageia.org/ #15594
   https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15594

** Summary changed:

- kwin crashes when booting from Kubuntu 16.04 32bit Live-DVD
+ Booting from Kubuntu >=16.04 32bit Live-DVD crashes on CPUs w/o SSE2

** Description changed:

When booting from a freshly burned Live DVD using images
- kubuntu-16.04-desktop-i386.iso or
- kubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-i386.iso
+  kubuntu-16.04-desktop-i386.iso or
+  kubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-i386.iso
kwin always crashes on my system.

Booting works fine until the plasma background image is appearing.
Also the selection window whether you want to "try" or "install" Kubuntu
shows up, but only without window frame. At about the same time I get a crash
notification that kwin has crashed.
If I click on "restart" in the crash notification, then after some trials
another window (without frame) says: "KWin is unstable. It seems to have
crashed several times in a row." and suggests to select another window manager.
Of course the Kubuntu ISO does not contain another window manager.

  The used hardware is:
  AMD Athlon XP 3000+ CPU
  VIA KT400 Chipset
  Mainboard MSI KT4V-L
Gfx: nVidia Geforce 7600 GT (AGP8x card: XFX GF 7600 GT 560M 256MB)

BTW: Booting Ubuntu 16.04 32bit DOES work on the very same system.
+
+
+ Update, 2016-10-23:
+ It turned out that it is highly likely that this issue is caused by the
missing "SSE2" support of the CPU in question.
+ Is kwin supposed to not work on non SSE2 CPUs ??

[Bug 1635990] [NEW] Missing WiFi connection when phone goes dark

2016-10-23 Thread Matteo
Public bug reported:

When I'm at home and I turn on my own WiFi home network, I can connect
to it from my BQ Aquaris E5 without any problem. Sadly, I noticed that
when the phone darkens for a while and I turn on back the screen, the
WiFi connection has been lost. In order to restore the connection with
my home network, I have to go to WiFi indicator on the top edge of the
phone, to drag down the connection menu and to tap again on my
connection indication.

[Bug 1631361] Re: fails to start in ubuntu 16.10 amd64.

2016-10-23 Thread Felix Natter
Dear Ubuntu maintainers,

I am the freeplane package maintainer for Debian. As you can see in this
bug report, freeplane in Ubuntu 16.10 is broken due to a broken
knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-1 update (synced too early [1]), and the (proposed)
fix is to sync knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-2 (as 5.2.0-1.1) from
Debian testing/unstable to Ubuntu 16.10.

ubuntu-motu suggested to create a SRU for this, which I am requesting now.

[Impact]
Freeplane fails to load OSGi bundles because the knopflerfish jar misses an
"exports" file. The other r-dep of knopferfish-osgi (libwoodstob-java) is a
library that should fail as well (the "exports" file is needed and was
present before the broken upload in 5.1.0+dfsg1-3's knopflerfish.jar!). The
fix in knopflerfish 5.2.0-2 is to generate a file "exports" during the
build.

[Test Case]
- Install freeplane:
$ sudo apt-get install freeplane
- run freeplane:
$ freeplane
--> it will fail to start (for the exact exception log, see above)
Ubuntu 16.10 users affected by the bug have confirmed that freeplane starts
with the fix (see above).

[Regression Potential]
There could _possibly_ be another issue in Ubuntu's knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-2,
and in this case, r-deps of knopflerfish-osgi would still not work.
But since they currently do not work, there is nothing to lose.

Attached is a debdiff between knopflerfish-osgi 5.2.0-1 and 5.2.0-2
(Debian). As suggested by #ubuntu-motu, I changed the changelog
entry to 5.2.0-1.1, for Ubuntu 16.10.

Please tell me if I'm missing anything. Freeplane has quite a few users,
and I would like to make this package functional in Ubuntu 16.10.

[1] Can we do something about this?

[Bug 1635988] [NEW] Update nautilus to 3.22

2016-10-23 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

To Do
=
- The integrated compression feature requires gnome-autoar to be promoted to
main.
- The interactive-search feature drops the first character typed. To select the
Downloads folder, I have to type 'ddow' instead of just 'dow'. The first 'd'
opens the interactive-search edit field.
- 0001-Respect-gtk-dialogs-use-header-for-all-dialogs.patch needs to be
updated. Currently, GNOME header bars are still used in these cases:
+ Batch Rename dialog
+ New Folder dialog

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Wishlist
 Status: Triaged

[Bug 1574333] Re: LVM-based filesystem does not boot with kernel 4.4 (but works with 4.2)

For 4.4.0-45, it only works in recovery mode, one hit on the return key
+ two confirmations to resume normal boot.

Everything works fine withe the 4.8.0-26 kernel of Yaketty Yak (Ubuntu

[Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps

2016-10-23 Thread Matteo
Nearby GPS positioning has got many problems. It is a very slow process
at phone start-up and it doesn't work very well in my opinion. I'm in
Italy, in Rome, and before to find the exact location, it takes always
at least 4/5 attempts: it's frustrating. My phone is a BQ Aquaris E5. I
have to tell also that same problems I find with HERE, Google Maps and
uNav, sign that this is a Ubuntu Touch general problem.

[Bug 1635977] [NEW] Dovecot LDA w/ Sieve panics on deliver - bad file descriptor

2016-10-23 Thread Daniel
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my mailserver to 16.04 I noticed that LDA delivery from
Postfix->Dovecot->my IMAP mailbox was intermittently failing. The logs
showed

"dovecot: lda(daniel): Panic: epoll_ctl(del, 10) failed: Bad file
descriptor"

A Google search led me to a Dovecot mailing list bug report[0] from
March, and the subsequent reply[1] that led to a patch[2] from the
maintainers to lib-sieve that addresses the bug at fault.

Applying the patch commit[2] to my local Dovecot has fixed the panics
and mail delivery is once again reliable.

Thanks so much! Let me know if I can provide any other useful
information.

[Bug 1265277] Re: Nautilus Crash When Creating a New Folder For a Lot of Files

2016-10-23 Thread Hadrien
I don't have a crash on Ubuntu 16.10 (Nautilus 3.20.3) but with 1000
files, the process is very slow, something like 1 to 5 seconds per file,
the CPU load is high, and at the end the summary popup says: 0 files
moved. The move succeeded though.

still valid for yakkety.

In theory ppa-purge revokes than to take trust away from a ppa-repro?

[Bug 1530523] Re: kcm_driver_manager: Infinitely shows Collecting information

2016-10-23 Thread Roy Walmsley
Also confirming the bug is still present. Just installed a clean Kubuntu
16.04 system, fully updated. Tried to run the update-apt-xapian-index,
which reported it not there. So had to install first, reboot, then run
update. Now, driver manager works.

I'm surprised this bug is still present. It was reported right at the
beginning of the year.

[Bug 1635976] [NEW] Cannot open a new window from the launcher with middle click

2016-10-23 Thread Hadrien
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.10 x64 with Nautilus 3.20.3

* Ensure all Nautilus windows are closed
* Ensure there is the Nautilus icon in the Unity launcher
* Left click on the Nautilus icon
* Ensure a new window opens, with your home folder as the address
* Middle click on the Nautilus icon

Expected result: a new window opens, with your home folder as the address
Actual result: the mouse pointer changes to the waiting pointer and stays like
that for several seconds. Sometimes the focus is brought to the current
Nautilus window, sometimes nothing else happens than the mouse pointer change.

[Bug 1635971] [NEW] WebRTC: meet.jit.si videocall does not work

2016-10-23 Thread Andrea Bernabei
Public bug reported:

krillin, rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en channel, revision 456

I previously reported bug #1466015 about meet.jit.si not working on
webbrowser-app, but that bug was marked as duplicate of another bug that is now
marked as "Fix Released".
But meet.jit.si still does not work.
I'm opening a new bug since the errors in the log are different from the ones I
reported in the previous bug.

How to reproduce:
1) visit meet.jit.si
2) click on Go to start a new videocall

Expected outcome:
a videocall is started

Actual outcome:
nothing happens
