[Bug 1640290] Re: Update Qt to 5.7
I unfortunately won't have time to properly work on this until January, so help is welcome if you want to populate the PPA earlier. Qtbase is now done, which is the biggest module, but all others and fixing the builds of reverse dependencies is pending. Thanks to my earlier started 5.7.0 work updating to 5.7.1 might not be too problematic. 5.7.0 showed initially lots of problems, hopefully 5.7.1 fixes the upstream problems. In addition to the packages in Debian, Ubuntu has the twin -gles Qt module packages, ubuntu-ui-toolkit, ciborium, unity8 etc which are needed to work before publishing the PPA to archives, as well as autopkgtests. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640290 Title: Update Qt to 5.7 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1640290/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1634220] Re: Wallpaper does not resize correctly when adding external display
It looks like it is related to the positions of the two displays to each other. I normally like the internal display to be below the external one. By default it tries to layout the display next to each other. When adding the external display I can see the wallpaper twice on the external display. On the left the small one that should probably be shown on the internal display and on the right side the large one that should normally be used for the external display. After a few moments the large one is shown on the exeternal display and the internal display has a black background. When I switch to the virtual desktop on the right side I do see the small wallpaper in the top left corner surrounded by the flickering. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1634220 Title: Wallpaper does not resize correctly when adding external display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1634220/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. I have a Radeon card, but things most definitely broke TODAY immediately after I did a software upgrade. I use Scilab, which uses OpenGL heavily. After today's upgrade, it was unable to display graphics, reporting "Caused by: javax.media.opengl.GLException: Profile GL_DEFAULT is not available on X11GraphicsDevice[type .x11, connection :0.0" The symptom in Scilab was that the graphics window opened, but no graph was drawn upon it. glxinfo is unable to find an RGB visual; I assume that means that GL is broken -- glxinfo certainly works just fine on another machine upon which Scilab also works just fine. ubuntu-drivers devices returns == /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:01.0 == modalias : pci:v1002d130Fsv1043sd85CBbc03sc00i00 vendor : Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [Bug 1630272] Re: The "Official Documentation" for Ubuntu 16.04 does not include correct instructions on installing Printers.
Hi Chris, I just tested the updated instructions tonight on another Ubuntu 16.04 system. Your instructions on 17.04 appear correct and work for 16.04. But this is assuming the printer Device URI is created correctly. If it doesn't though (as in my case) the user may have to manually change that to the IP address. So it may be worth adding this into the instructions. Something to the effect "If the printer fails to print, and you know your Printers IP address change your Device URI / Host Name" (Printer > Right-click > Properties > Device URI, click "Change"). This will save users a lot of time looking online on a work around. Don't honestly know how the auto-assigned Device URI is supposed to work. I assume its based on a broadcast name of the printer. However, if its useful to you, I have attached a PDF of my installation, including screenshots as an example. Also Gunnar is probably correct in this is similar to this bug #1320381 (linked above). So I am going to try these instructions with some other printer models and post back if the printer Device URI is correctly identified. It may be a few days before I have access to addition printers however. I also have a problem with booting up ( may be related) that has to do with the timing. If I click on ubunto LTS in grub screen it boots to a black screen. But if I make it wait by clicking on boot options and then back to ubuntu it boots fine! The bug about hanging was reported so many times. [Bug 1621507] Re: initramfs-tools configure_networking() fails to dhcp ipv6 addresses
I just had the thought.. is there any reason that we are using dhclient for ipv4 rather than leaving the old path in place entirely for ip= ? If we just change back to letting klibc's ipconfig take care of the ipv4 dhcp, then that resolves my 'b' and 'c' (for the ipv4 case). We can then also go back to the original test for "done" of just checking for presense of /run/net-"$DEVICE".conf to idnicate ipv4 is done. All in all, the change to taking 'ip6=' on the command line makes it fairly easy to ensure we do not regress the ipv4 use case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1621507 Title: initramfs-tools configure_networking() fails to dhcp ipv6 addresses To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1621507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1634802] Re: Could not insert module
I installed the fix from zesty, and it loads into the kernal fine, and I can set the resolution that I want. However... Since before now I could not get nvidia-304 to work, I had been using nouveau. I had been able to start the panorama program Hugin, but when I tried to open the images to stitch together, the graphics driver nouveau crashed and I had to do a hard-shutdown. Now that I have a working nvidia-304, Hugin crashes with some sort of a x-window error when it tries to start up. " The program 'hugin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'. (Details: serial 541 error_code 2 request_code 154 minor_code 24) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) " I don't know if it is the mere presence of nvidia-304, or THIS PARTICULAR nvidia-304. I don't know if it is the FIX that caused it, or something else. I can see that the version of nvidia-304 that I had been using under Lubuntu 16.04 (and which I used with Hugin with no problem) was 304.131xxx instead of .132. >From this output, can anyone say if it is a bug in nvidia-304, or Hugin that >is the problem? Say... I see that there is a .131 for Xenial Xerus. at the same site I got the fixed .132 ... Does anyone think there is likely to be a problem if I try to load that version of nvidia-304?
