[Bug 1640109] [NEW] hv_set_ifconfig script parsing fails for certain configuration

Public bug reported:

When trying to configure DHCP with no IPv6 addresses, a configuration file 
similar to the following is generated:
HWADDR=XX:YY:ZZ
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp

When running the hv_set_ifconfig script with this script as an argument, it 
fails with the following stderr (stderr is muted, the script must be edited to 
retrieve this information, so the line number is offset):
  File "hv_set_ifconfig", line 171, in 
output = ["auto "+" ".join(autolist)] + output
NameError: name 'autolist' is not defined


Editing the script so that autolist is defined in all flows resolves the issue 
and the script successfully sets the interface to use DHCP

We have a hundred trusty servers with the same configuration and need to 
upgrade them without question.
The "do-release-upgrade -m server -f DistUpgradeViewNonInteractive" always ends 
with the traceback written in the Bug Description.
Is there a workaround for this bug or an another way to upgrade without 
question ?

FWIW, I solved the problem by simply (!) rebuilding my repository with
dump/restore.  Of course this is my own repository and I can do what I

I forced to downgrade the nvidia driver 
from 304.132-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 (xenial updates)
to 304.131-0ubuntu3 (xenial) 

Now my genymotion works again, the bug's away.

And I'm sorry: I'm on Ubuntu Studio 16.04, not 16.10

Maybe its a workaround for somebody.

Can I delete this bug as clearly the problem is not with Shotwell but
something else in Ubuntu 16.10 as any file deleted on an external drive
does not appear in the system recycle bin. Perhaps I am doing something
wrong? Perhaps I am the only person deleting files from an external
drive? Perhaps I am the only person left using Ubuntu?

containing that message): it appears to be a bug in Subversion 1.9
that's already fixed upstream.

If my understanding is correct, this bug can cause data corruption.  It
would be good if someone could prepare a SRU.

It happens to me after recent updates in 16.04 LTS. On boot I get an IP
from the DHCP server, all is well, but the IP is dropped after a while,
without complaint from network manager applet which still shows like the
network is connected. Unplugging and plugging the ethernet cable solves
the problem for the whole day. Looking in the syslog it appears that
NetworkManager is started at boot time and then systemd tries to start
it again, causing an IP conflict:

Had to re-do the process several times and I changed this: "sudo rm 
/var/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloads/partial/*.FAILED" to this "sudo 
rm /var/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloads/partial/*.*". Did the last 
two commands several times and in the end the installation finished without 
errors. The only thing that was different in the last run, when it completed, 
was a dialog window telling me that the download of 
*something*-corefonts-installer had failed. (?!?!@) But I let this window 
during the terminal process and it completed. After that canceled the dialog 
window.

Updated how-to for the new rsyslog format and logging to a separate
file:

1) Create /etc/rsyslog.d/20-ltsp.conf with the following contents:
