Thanks, this makes sense. I think we actually do not need it anymore, I
pushed https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/2289 that removes it, lets
see if the tests agree that it is really not needed anymore.

[Bug 1638769] Re: Need more information from account manager

2016-11-16 Thread Alberto Mardegan
I'll investigate why are you are getting that error with the tester app;
it works fine on the phone.

Anyway, yes, the output you are getting from gdbus is expected, because
you are not specifying the applicationId in your call to GetAccounts.
You need to ship an .application file along with your app, and install
it in /usr/share/accounts/applications/. See existing files there as
examples. And have a quick look at
https://developer.ubuntu.com/api/apps/qml/sdk-15.04/Ubuntu.OnlineAccounts
.manifest-files/

Given that your project is rather generic and might not have prior
knowledge on all the available account types it support, it might be a
good idea for you to define a (you could call it "ubuntu-
storage-framework", for example) instead of listing all the individual
services you support. But it's really up to you.

[Bug 1640514] Re: /snap/bin is not added to the PATH when using zsh

2016-11-16 Thread Michael Vogt
Looks like there is no zprofile.d directory (similar to profile.d) so
there is nothing that snapd itself can hook into. This really needs to
be fixed in zsh itself apparently.

[Bug 1642386] Re: At least one invalid signature was encountered.

2016-11-16 Thread Julian Andres Klode
What we see from your debug output is that gpgv is not returning any
sensible information:

Summary:
  Good:
  Bad:
  Worthless:
  SoonWorthless:
  NoPubKey:

You could try running apt-key verify manually on a few InRelease files (like
apt-key verify
/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_xenial_InRelease) and see if
that gives us any clue - or at least look at the files (especially in
partial/), maybe they are garbage.

[Bug 1642386] Re: At least one invalid signature was encountered.

2016-11-16 Thread Julian Andres Klode
First thanks for the files. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce it with the
files either. It must be a fairly system-specific bug.

> HEAD is now at 235347e... Release 1.2.12
> $ make fast
> [... with errors]

Whoa, if it happens with the 1.2.12 checkout too, then something else
seems wrong. I picked that as the "good" commit, as it apparently worked
in your first log file. But with 1.2.12 failing in the checkout as well,
that seems really weird. You could try older 1.2 versions if you want,
specifying bad as 1.2.12, and good as 1.2.10, for example (1.2.10 is
basically the version xenial shipped with).

So this does not really look like a regression because it apparently
happens with the previously installed version as well now (at least when
built via git).

Bazinga! Perhaps unexpectedly, this is a GOOD kernel -- boot speed is
comparable with 4.4, there is no high load after booting any more, and
shutdown is fast as well.

Thanks!

[Bug 1641615] Re: FTBFS of libvirt 2.1 in zesty

2016-11-16 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Build worked but my assumption of "other" changes became true, yet in a
different way than I thought.
See this thread on libvirt which made me aware of gnutls actually taking back
some of the changes:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2016-November/msg00815.html

So it turns out that was identified an unallowed abi change in gnutls - not
released.
commit 70bf8475bb0ab178fe36ee4c601a6cfec8e70a3f
Author: Nikos Mavrogiannopoulos
Date: Fri Nov 11 16:20:01 2016 +0100

Introduced new functions to allow multiple DN parsing modes

The old DN parsing functions are changed to return the original
non-fully compliant with RFC4514 string format, while the new
ones return the compliant string by default. This allows applications
which relied on the previous format to continue functioning without
changes.

So in turn we need to update gnutls and then libvirt (back to where we started).

Also we have broken nova-compute dep8 tests
(https://objectstorage.prodstack4-5.canonical.com/v1/AUTH_77e2ada1e7a84929a74ba3b87153c0ac
/autopkgtest-zesty/zesty/i386/n/nova/20161116_153913_48850@/log.gz) on
the recent uploads, which might (or not) be related to this overall
thing - only willing to spend more time once the gnutls/libvirt changes
are back to where they should be.

[Bug 1642486] [NEW] SSSD SRV Lookup Failover Fails when primary DNS Server is unresponsive

2016-11-16 Thread Jacob
Public bug reported:

On sssd 1.13.4-1ubuntu1.1 in an Active Directory domain, configured for
dynamic SRV record lookup (not statically defined in krb5.conf or in
sssd.conf), the lookup fails if the first nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf
is unavailable.

Noticed the issue when one of our DCs (LDAP/DNS... etc) went offline and
was suddenly unable to log into several systems running sssd.

Found the following from the RHEL/Fedora folks:

[Bug 1642482] [NEW] install on iSCSI offload card wrongly assumes default net

2016-11-16 Thread Kevin Otte
Public bug reported:

When an iSCSI offload card is in use, in my case a QLE4060C (qla4xxx
driver), partman-scsi blindly assumes that because the root device is on
an iSCSI volume it is using the installer selected network device.

I'm having trouble following the logic in init.d/iscsi, but I think a
simple fix would be to check
/sys/class/iscsi_session/{session_name}/ifacename. If it is != "default"
then you can skip over it.

** Affects: partman-iscsi (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2016-11-16 Thread Andrew Turner
Public bug reported:

I have no idea what is wrong. I am trying to get Thai as a second keyboard
input language.
I tried loading the Thai language pack. Maybe that is what has failed.
This sort of bug reporting is useless to non nerds like me. I do not understand
what package kdeetc means.
Why not write it in normal language as it would be helpful to make linux more
usable for non nerds. How do I get the Thai Language pack?

2016-11-16 Thread Michael
I did not find a solution that repairs the issue, so I installed Ubuntu
16.04 LST freshly.

This morning I used the machine before work to book a train ticket and
print is. After that I shut down the machine. 15 Minutes later I
remembered that I forgot to lool up something and booted the machine
again and cannot login anymore.

[Bug 1576187] Re: backuppc/smb: BackupPC failes to backup SMB shares after smbclient update

2016-11-16 Thread jeltsch
Same problem seems to exist on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. At least we cannot
backup anything but one partial using smbclient after we upgraded from
14.04. OK, samba might be the problem. However, if we don't know whether
and when this will change, then we still need a work around. After all,
the backup itself kind of works...

[Bug 1642470] [NEW] SRU. Please re-enable CONFIG_DRM_MGAG200.

2016-11-16 Thread Ying-Chun Liu
Public bug reported:

For some new Dell laptops, they are using Matrox graphics cards.
And in order to let Xorg mga driver work. We need to enable CONFIG_DRM_MGAG200.

MGAG200 is disabled by this bug.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1042903

Since Dell's laptops needs this to be enabled.
I think we need to test lp:1042903 again because it's 4 years ago on HP.

[Bug 1611074] Re: Reformatting of ephemeral drive fails on resize of Azure VM

2016-11-16 Thread Scott Moser
Paul,
A long winded comment, please stick with me. Please try to answer these
first:
Question 1.) Is there a way to definitive/declaritive way to determine
that an instance has been resized? I'd hope for something kind of
like an insnance id, like a "size-id". Basically, we need a way to
determine if this event has occurred so that we can act on it.

You are right that it is cloud-config.service that is running this.
Steve Langasek helped me come to that realization also. I had originally
hoped that that too would be solved by this new cloud-init being present
in the "first" boot of an instance, but unfortunately that doesnt seem
right.

The following things were changed with commit 3705bb59 [1] that were
involved in the fix.
a.) we added x-systemd.requires=cloud-init.service to the mount options
in /etc/fstab.
b.) we moved disk_setup and mounts from
  cloud_config_modules and running in cloud-config.service
to
  cloud_init_modules and running in cloud_init_modules.service
c.) An azure specific bit of behavior adjusts disk_setup and mounts
to run every boot (per-always) rather than the default behavior
of per-instance. This is done specifically to catch this resize.

It is done dynamically, and prior to cloud-init doing better caching
to save work, it ended up getting run every instance.

The result is that after upgrade and then resize, the disk_setup
and mounts config modules still get run at cloud-config.service
and thus lose the race with the systemd mounting of the device.

The code here really takes a bunch of symantics to try to determine
if a resize has occurred. Thus the question above.

Unfortunately, 'c' happens based on the presence of the ephemeral
disk at the time when the datasource first runs. That is racy with
the disks coming online. We need to find a better way to determine
when disks can be erased (and thus the disk_setup and mounts modules
can re-run). Note, it always was racy with the presence of the disks,
but because we're running earlier now we hit the race more.

I can't think of a solution that doesn't basically require waiting for
the disk to appear.
