[Bug 991471] Re: multi-device btrfs filesystem automatically mounted once for each device
moving udisks tasks to udisks2 (udisks was dropped in after vivid, trusty had both udisks and udisks2) ** Description changed: If I have a multi-device btrfs filesystem, and I plug it in via some removable interface (for example, USB3), it will automatically mount on the desktop multiple times. For example, if I have a filesystem labeled FooBar on /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd and /dev/sde, it will be mounted as - /media/FooBar, /media/FooBar_, /media/FooBar__, and /media/FooBar___. - It should show up only once. + /media/FooBar, /media/FooBar1, /media/FooBar2, and /media/FooBar3. It + should show up only once. [Bug 1550831] Re: btrfs RAID on USB drives mounted multiple times
I can confirm the problem, on trusty. I believe I've even confirmed another ticket that is open already on LP somewhere. First comment, this is not about RAID. Simple multi-device btrfs are affected as well. I will adjust the title of the ticket accordingly. Second comment, it is highly unlikely for this to be a problem in initramfs. [Bug 1647017] [NEW] [SRU] Update xenial and yakkety to match zesty version
Public bug reported: go-lxc is used by LXD as the way to interact with liblxc. As a result, upstream changes for it are usually restricted to bugfixes or minor improvements (for things like CRIU support). To make our lives easier, we like to keep go-lxc in sync in all supported Ubuntu releases to match the LXC version that we also keep in sync there. To do so, we need to SRU a new version of go-lxc to xenial and yakkety, with the following upstream changelog: - bindings C: check for LXC_DEVEL in version.h file - bindings go: check for LXC_DEVEL in version.h - lxc-binding: add binding for c->attach() - container: add RunCommandNoWait() - lxc_test: add test for RunCommandNoWait() - Move LXC_DEVEL define to after version.h include - c/r: make sure container is running before doing a dump - container, error: return correct error - Fix TestRunCommandNoWait failure - tests: Skip architecture test on !x86 - tests: Make skip messages consistent - Run "go fmt" The xenial SRU will not require any extra work. The next LXD upload will simply pick up the new go-lxc at build time. For the yakkety SRU, we will need to upload a no change rebuild of LXD to build against the new go-lxc and we'll need them both to be released at the same time. That's because of the addition of the "attach()" function which changes the Go shared library hash. ** Affects: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released ** Affects: lxd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released ** Affects: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Stéphane Graber (stgraber) Status: In Progress ** Affects: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Yakkety) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Stéphane Graber (stgraber) Status: In Progress ** Affects: lxd (Ubuntu Yakkety) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Stéphane Graber (stgraber) Status: Triaged ** Changed in: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Also affects: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Yakkety) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: lxd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: lxd (Ubuntu Xenial) ** Changed in: lxd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: lxd (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Fix Released ** Changed in: lxd (Ubuntu Yakkety) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Yakkety) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: lxd (Ubuntu Yakkety) Status: In Progress => Triaged ** Changed in: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => Stéphane Graber (stgraber) ** Changed in: golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2 (Ubuntu Yakkety) Assignee: (unassigned) => Stéphane Graber (stgraber) ** Changed in: lxd (Ubuntu Yakkety) Assignee: (unassigned) => Stéphane Graber (stgraber) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1647017 Title: [SRU] Update xenial and yakkety to match zesty version To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-gopkg-lxc-go-lxc.v2/+bug/1647017/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1647014] [NEW] trusty to xenial no second partition /dev/sda2 mount hangup Xserver not running and others
Public bug reported: Ok I hope someone speak german. My English isn't good enough to describe the troubles. Zunächst begann das Update ganz normal um dann mitten drin den Xserver abzuschiessen, den logfiles nach war das um: ERROR: apport (pid 3777) Tue Nov 29 22:40:02 2016: executable: /usr/sbin/cron (command line "CRON") ERROR: apport (pid 3777) Tue Nov 29 22:40:02 2016: is_closing_session(): no DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS in environment ERROR: apport (pid 3777) Tue Nov 29 22:40:02 2016: apport: report /var/crash/_usr_sbin_cron.0.crash already exists and unseen, doing nothing to avoid disk usage DoS ERROR: apport (pid 3776) Tue Nov 29 22:40:02 2016: another apport instance is already running, aborting ERROR: apport (pid 809) Tue Nov 29 22:49:20 2016: called for pid 7257, signal 11, core limit 0 ERROR: apport (pid 809) Tue Nov 29 22:49:20 2016: executable was modified after program start, ignoring ERROR: apport (pid 822) Tue Nov 29 22:49:21 2016: called for pid 28073, signal 11, core limit 0 ERROR: apport (pid 822) Tue Nov 29 22:49:21 2016: executable was modified after program start, ignoring Danach habe ich ewig lang versucht irgendwie wenigstens wieder ein grafisches System zu bekommen.

This should qualify under the minor upstream bugfix release allowance of the SRU policy, letting us SRU this without paperwork for every single change included in this upstream release. [Bug 1647007] [NEW] overlayfs no longer supports nested overlayfs mounts, but there is a fix upstream
Public bug reported: Hi When you mount an overlayfs in an overlayfs, you get really issues about files not being found on the lower overlayfs However a fix for this appears to have been merged into the kernel in master https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/c4fcfc1619ea43a8a89ad2f83ff23905eee088bd In https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/c4fcfc1619ea43a8a89ad2f83ff23905eee088bd there is a simple script to replicate this issue, where currently, it returns "No such device or address" Is there any chance that this fix can be backported into Ubuntu's kernel? but there also says something about 4.8 in the commit log, does that mean that it is going to be backported to 4.8? [Bug 1647004] [NEW] invalid crypttab generated when using XTS mode
Public bug reported: While installing Xenial with the latest daily ISO, I created a cryptsetup partition to be used for swap. I used a random key and picked AES 128 in XTS mode. This resulted in this line of crypttab nvme0n1p3_crypt /dev/nvme0n1p3 /dev/urandom cipher=aes-xts- plain64,swap,size=128,discard During boot, systemd asked me to provide the passphrase to unlock that partition (duh). Here is how to manually reproduce the problem (replace nvme0n1p3 to match your system): # /lib/systemd/systemd-cryptsetup attach 'nvme0n1p3_crypt' '/dev/nvme0n1p3' '/dev/urandom' 'cipher=aes-xts-plain64,swap,size=128,discard' Set cipher aes, mode xts-plain64, key size 128 bits for device /dev/nvme0n1p3. Failed to activate with key file '/dev/urandom': Invalid argument Please enter passphrase for disk nvme0n1p3_crypt on none! After much fiddling, it appears that "size=128" is too small for XTS mode. According to the cryptsetup man page, XTS requires the key to be twice as long as the cipher. Here is some evidence to back the man page: # /lib/systemd/systemd-cryptsetup attach 'nvme0n1p3_crypt' '/dev/nvme0n1p3' '/dev/urandom' 'cipher=aes-xts-plain64,size=256,swap,discard' Set cipher aes, mode xts-plain64, key size 256 bits for device /dev/nvme0n1p3. # /lib/systemd/systemd-cryptsetup attach 'nvme0n1p3_crypt' '/dev/nvme0n1p3' '/dev/urandom' 'cipher=aes-xts-plain64,size=512,swap,discard' Set cipher aes, mode xts-plain64, key size 512 bits for device /dev/nvme0n1p3. Workaround: sed -i '/swap/ s/size=128/size=256/' /etc/crypttab systemctl daemon-reload systemctl start systemd-cryptsetup@nvme0n1p3_crypt Finally, I opened the bug on cryptsetup but I feel it belongs to the installer but don't know which package exactly. ** Affects: cryptsetup (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1647004 Title: invalid crypttab generated when using XTS mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1647004/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1613914] Re: squid upgrade fails when user has custom cache_dir
Having a cache_dir at all is non-default. Squid-3 default is to run with a memory-only cache. The /var/spool/squid path is used as default run- time working directory. Which reminds me the proxies low-privilege user account is tied via home directory to the location the original machine install was done with. That probably has not been updated since before Trusty. Symlinks and mount points, either on the cache_dir directory, or below it need to be accounted for. As do SELinux policies, AppArmour policies - both the system ones and custom changes which do not show up in the squid.conf paths. Then there is the issue of other custom tools interacting with the cache_dir data. Not common but when it does happen it's usually custom software outside the package tracking system, which we dont have a clue about whether it can cope with the move. IMHO just leave it, the gain is cosmetic at best and surprisingly hard to do correctly without local knowledge only the admin has. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1613914 Title: squid upgrade fails when user has custom cache_dir To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1613914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
