[Bug 1625043] Re: tomcat7 package not compliant with tomcat specification

2017-01-08 Thread Simulacrum
Hi Christian,

The issue would be that even though X-Compile-Source-JDK is set to 1.6,
the compiler is still using the standard library from Java 8. The
ConcurrentHashMap method
`java.util.concurrent.ConcurrentHashMap.keySet()Ljava/util/concurrent/ConcurrentHashMap$KeySetView`
has had its return type narrowed to a new class that is not present in
earlier Java versions, so anything compiled with the Java 8 standard
library will expect a ConcurrentHashMap$KeySetView as the type. To
compile with Java 8 but make it cross compatible with Java 6, you need
to use the bootstrap classpath option to javac and point it at a JDK 6/7
rt.jar, see here for an explanation
https://blogs.oracle.com/darcy/entry/bootclasspath_older_source.

FWIW I am being bitten by this issue as well.

[Bug 1654778] Re: growisofs: INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT error with DVD-Rs

2017-01-08 Thread Polly
Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your response. You were right, the problem was with my
hardware.

I plugged in the Sony to a Mac, and tried burning to the same media
there. It didn't work. I found an old Plextor PX 712SA and plugged it
into my Linux Mint box and retried the burn with the previously-failing
media, and it worked.

Before I ran these tests, I was thinking this couldn't be a problem with
my hardware, because the DVD+RW burn worked. Was it working only by
chance? Or is there something different about the OPC phase and DVD+RW
media?

Thanks for looking at this bug. Please do mark it closed.

Best,
Polly

[Bug 1497105] Re: Clients can't get high frequency input in Unity8

2017-01-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
** Summary changed:

- Clients can't get high resolution input in Unity8
+ Clients can't get high frequency input in Unity8

** Description changed:

- Clients can't get high resolution input in Unity8.
+ Clients can't get high frequency input in Unity8.

Using native (non-nested) Mir servers, clients can get the full speed
input stream if they so choose (MIR_CLIENT_INPUT_RATE=0). And it's
planned that this will become a formal API feature: bug 1439590

However in Unity8, because it is a nested server, the client no longer
- has the option of getting this high resolution input.
+ has the option of getting this high frequency input.

- Examples of clients that utilize high resolution input for improved visual
quality:
-mir_demo_client_fingerpaint -w--desktop_file_hint=unity8
-mir_demo_client_target -n--desktop_file_hint=unity8
- You may also want to experiment with those using ultra-high resolution input
by adding a kernel parameter: usbhid.mousepoll=1
+ Examples of clients that utilize high frequency input for improved visual
quality:
+    mir_demo_client_fingerpaint -w--desktop_file_hint=unity8
+    mir_demo_client_target -n--desktop_file_hint=unity8
+ You may also want to experiment with those using ultra-high frequency input
by adding a kernel parameter: usbhid.mousepoll=1

This is a tricky problem because for touch at least we do want the input
stream to be throttled to the display rate from the top level down.
Perhaps the answer is to enhance Unity8 to be a full-speed (non-
resampled) client and then the clients of Unity8 can then still have a
choice of whether they get resampling or not.

[Bug 1654594] Re: Size set in Window{} when app running in a trust session is half accepted

2017-01-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Sounds similar to general resizing bugs seen in Unity8. For example Unity8
composites this window incorrectly (renders it with nonsquare pixels) until you
grab it and resize it manually:
  mir_demo_client_target -- --desktop_file_hint=unity8

[Bug 1654912] [NEW] Bluetooth sound card not detected - MMOVE Bluetooth Headphones

2017-01-08 Thread Edward
Public bug reported:

TRNDlabs MMOVE Bluetooth Headphones (earbuds) pair just fine using
blueman, but no sound, and not detected by PulseAudio Volume Control.

Earphones Parameters:
Support Profiles: HFP, HSP, AVRCP, AZDP
Audio Profile: APTX
Bluetooth Version: 4.0
Troubleshooting Tried Already:
-Adjusted Volume
-Looked for any kind of controls for volume in PulseAudio Volume Control and
Alsa Mixer and QAS Mixer.
-Looked in Synaptic Package Manager for packages that might solve the issue
(search words, bluetooth, audio, pulse)
-found intone, but it's support is A2DP headsets, which this product
does not mention.
-tried installing this package, program locks up and won't play
the music files I try (but that's a separate issue)
-tried installing xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin, couldn't figure out
how to run it after install, didn't try just running in terminal yet
-treid installing pulseaudio-module-bluetooth, this most likely
will work...no it didn't

Interesting it's always and only the OSK we have rendering trouble with
(see also bug 1590765, bug 1649077). Might be worth looking into how the
OSK renders differently to other apps.

Re: [Bug 1654546] [NEW] brltty.service: Failed at step SECCOMP spawning /bin/sh: Invalid argument

2017-01-08 Thread Luke Yelavich
Firstly, it does not look like you are using the official raspberry pi
kernel for Xenial. Your kernel is 4.1, and the Xenial kernel is 4.4, so
it is possible that the kernel you are using does not have the required
apparmor bits that Ubuntu needs.

As for the error, does journalctl contain any more information WRT
brltty, and does systemctl status brltty also contain any more
information?

[Bug 1649584] Re: Kernel update 3.13.0-105 causes SATA errors that end up remounting partitions as read-only

2017-01-08 Thread Marcus Aurelius
I'm confirming that it's reproducible in 3.13.0-106-generic and
3.13.0-107-generic (although it seems to happen much less often).

I will run on 3.13.0-100-generic for a while to be sure it works well
and to (try to) rule out the possibility of a hardware fault.

[Bug 1654905] Re: Update dpkg to 1.18.18

2017-01-08 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Marking this as triaged and medium, as it really makes sense to have the
4-tuple dpkg instead of the triplet based dpkg.

It's not entirely clear if the apt thing happens in the 1.4 series
scheduled for zesty (and Debian stretch), or if it will move to zesty+1
(or +2 -- depending on how long stretch is frozen, zesty and zesty+1
might share an apt release series).

[Bug 1654905] [NEW] Update dpkg to 1.18.18

2017-01-08 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Public bug reported:

Our dpkg is 1.18.10 from summer 2016. apt might want to start
(build-)depending on 1.18.11 soon, we should really get this up a bit.
Background is of course architecture patterns/wildcards:

dpkg < 1.18.11 uses triplets, dpkg >= 1.18.11 uses 4-tuplets.

And supporting both variants would be a bit annoying.

[Bug 1619844] Re: [Xenial] shutdown/reboot hangs at "Reached target Shutdown"

2017-01-08 Thread Andy Shulman
I can't quite figure out why, but the answer seems to be "occasionally".
I was able to reboot a few times (2 out of maybe 30?) using the complete
list of reboot= options. However, I suspect making the reboot= changes
is a red herring -- I rebooted the machine more in the past few hours
than I have in the rest of the time I've owned it. It's entirely
possible that I would have gotten similarly lucky had I kept trying to
reboot over and over again without making the reboot= changes.

[Bug 1458322] Re: NetworkManager doesn't hide virtual interfaces (e.g. Docker, VMWare)

2017-01-08 Thread Michael Stucki
There used to be a workaround with adding a "managed=false" entry to
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf (see
https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkManager#Wired_Networks_are_Unmanaged).

However, this does no longer seem to work on Ubuntu 16.04. Can anyone
confirm? Has there been a change recently which broke this workaround?

Nevertheless, I think that the importance of this issue should be
raised, and that a manual configuration change should not be necessary
at all...

[Bug 1650076] Re: Evince continues to scroll when window/workspace changed

2017-01-08 Thread Aibara Iduas
** Description changed:

-
- When scrolling using a pointing stick (at least with trackpoints on
Thinkpads) Evince will continue to scroll when the window or workspace is
changed. The user's place is quickly lost.
+ When an image or portion of text in a pdf is clicked in Evince, dragged
+ (as if to drag it to another application), then let go of, Evince will
+ continue to scroll depending on where the pointer is placed, even if the
+ window or workspace is changed. The user's place is quickly lost.

  To reproduce:

- Open a multi-page pdf with Evince.
- Go to some random page.
- Scroll up.
- Hit alt-tab quickly, switching to another program.
- The page will continue to scroll.
+ 1.) Open a pdf with Evince.
+ 2.) Left click on an image or page of a if it is an image, or select some
text.
+ 3.) With the left mouse button held down, drag it so that the "hand holding a
document" icon appears.
+ 4.) Let go of the left mouse button.
+ 5.) Go to another window or desktop, and note that depending on the location
of the mouse on the screen Evince, even unfocused, will scroll the pdf in that
direction (e.g. up if the mouse is near the top).

- Note that the page scrolls depending on where the mouse is on screen.
- This continues even if the workspace is changed or the user switches to
- other windows, even clicking and typing in them. The only way to stop
- Evince from scrolling is to go back to Evince and click or scroll again.
+ The only way to stop Evince from scrolling is to go back to Evince and
+ click or scroll again.

- This might be reproducible with a mouse and scroll button, but I don't
- have one handy. I can't, however, get it to reproduce when scrolling
- with keys or the touchpad. Switching windows also needs to happen
- quickly, otherwise it does not occur.
+ I've tested this on with Evince 3.18.2 on Ubuntu 16.04. This did not
+ occur back in 14.04.

- I've tested this on two different Thinkpads running Ubuntu 16.04 and
- Evince 3.18.2. This only occurs in Evince, no other program I've ever
- used. It didn't occur back in 14.04.
+ (Edited to include easier method of reproduction.)

** Summary changed:

- Evince continues to scroll when window/workspace changed
+ Evince scrolls even when unfocused after image/text is selected

[Bug 1260830] Re: gearman upstart job does not use /etc/default/gearman-job-server

2017-01-08 Thread Giorgio Sironi
To be fair $PARAMS without quotes works for the other parameters, but it
doesn't for values containing spaces like the PostgreSQL connection
info. A work around is to use a URL for PostgreSQL, which does not
contain spaces instead.

[Bug 1654018] Re: mpd segfaults playing m4a (aac) audio

2017-01-08 Thread Florian Schlichting
mpd 0.18.7-1 is very old, can you upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 and see if the
bug has been fixed there?

[Bug 1638245] Re: Files in the root of a folder on another partition symlinked to user's home cannot be moved to trash because of a patch in this package

2017-01-08 Thread Svivi
Hi Brian,

I tested the new package in Xenial from -proposed and it fixed the
problem for me.

The glib version: 2.48.2-0ubuntu1

[Bug 1652419] Re: hdhomerun-config-gui missing from Software app

2017-01-08 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I confirmed that without -proposed enabled, the hdhomerun app does not
show up in the Software app in Ubuntu (Unity) 16.04 or 16.10. After
enabling -proposed, the hdhomerun app does show in 16.04. I was then
able to install it in the Software app and run it from Unity
successfully. I don't have the appropriate hardware to test whether the
app works any more than that though.

For 16.10, we need the libicns SRU accepted (LP: #1652418) for
hdhomerun-config-gui to build.

[Bug 1654348] Re: Recommend gnome-maps again

2017-01-08 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I can confirm that updating my Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.1 install with
-proposed enabled brings in gnome-maps.

gnome-maps is also now present in the daily xenial images which are
currently built with -proposed enabled:

[Bug 1010289] Re: KeePass2: copy username or copy password does not work as expected in applications

2017-01-08 Thread Oliver
You are right. A typo in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-
repositories.list, but it somehow did not produce any error, but it's
fixed now. Sorry for being off-topic.

On-topic is that the outdated Keepass 2.25 (that's all that Ubuntu uses
at the moment) still does not copy & paste. It did work for a while
after I installed xsel, but the bug has re-appeared. Also, Ctrl-Shift-
Insert does NOT work. xsel is 1.2.0-2.
