As it turned out, the leftern part of the right screen is already part of the right screen (not a overstretched part of the left screen. To illustrate it, I marked it red on a photo (attached). Still: 80% of the second screen remain black, as long as the login process is not finished. ** Attachment added: "CIMG1106.JPG" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-flashback/+bug/1665853/+attachment/4821337/+files/CIMG1106.JPG -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665853 Title: Gnome Flashback: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-flashback/+bug/1665853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1665853] [NEW] Gnome Flashback: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration
Public bug reported: I'm using ubuntu 16.04, up-to-date, HWE kernel 4.8.0-36-generic. On dual screen setup, during system login, the first screen stretches over a part of the second screen (about 25% of it), whereas the rest of the second screen is black. Like this: # # #<<|...# # Login# #<<|.Black.# # # #<<|...# The part marked with "<<" is the rightest part of the background image of the first screen. I've seen this after updating to xorg/xserver- hwe-16.04, whereas installing the hwe kernel alone did not make this happen. Nevertheless, I can login and everything is fine again. Both screens look as they should. (I had to reconfigure monitors once after updating to xorg/xserver-hwe-16.04). sylog shows: Feb 18 06:27:03 lat61 gnome-session[3242]: ** (gnome-flashback:3340): WARNING **: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration Feb 18 06:27:03 lat61 gnome-session[3242]: ** (gnome-flashback:3340): WARNING **: Could not make default configuration for current output layout, leaving unconfigured ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: gnome-flashback 3.18.2-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-36.36~16.04.1-generic 4.8.11 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-36-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME-Flashback:Unity Date: Sat Feb 18 07:46:46 2017 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-11-29 (812 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140722.2) SourcePackage: gnome-flashback UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to xenial on 2016-06-15 (247 days ago) ** Affects: gnome-flashback (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665853 Title: Gnome Flashback: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-flashback/+bug/1665853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1665850] [NEW] Screen corruption after unblank with HWE stack
Public bug reported: After update of video drivers to HWE stack as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack (sudo apt-get install --install-recommends xserver-xorg-hwe-16.04) I experience reproducible screen corruption after unblanking screen. What happens - screen goes blank - I move mouse, screen unblanks - random parts of screen begin to blink rapidly. Forcing redraw of window content (e.g. by clicking on application window to raise it) stops blinking. I never observed this issue when using GA versions of Xorg stack. Using HWE kernel as well. I have the same problem, using pcscd 1.8.14-1ubuntu1.16.04.1 on an IBM Thinkpad P50, which has the same card reader. However, interestingly, it only happens when I use a Feitian/Entersafe A22CR card. [Bug 1656155] Re: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes
@V: Did you upgrade to 16.10, or did you do a fresh install? Check what kernel version you ended up with. If less than 4.6, get a fresh install image of 16.10 with kernel 4.8 (or else follow a recipe for upgrading your kernel). Avoid the bug by choosing a command line boot level (stay out of the GUI) or using ssh to login from a different machine. That's all I have. Being a user-space kind of guy, I'll defer to anyone who overrides anything I've said. I'm still rock-stable since achieving kernel 4.8. Somebody else might have something to say about choosing the right install options. There was a 3rd-party option that I said yes to, and it was associated with a log message about Intel drivers later on. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1656155 Title: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/1656155/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry, I can't collect the report: apport isn't installed on the server, and the whole problem is that, having run out of inodes, I can't install anything (nor save files). [Bug 1615734] Re: Multiple monitors broken
I have a similar situation with my P50, the dock station and a 1440x900 VGA monitor (ViewSonic VA1903wb). [Bug 1665833] [NEW] inode exhaustion should be logged to dmesg
Public bug reported: Problem: My server just became unusable, because it ran out of inodes (something that shouldn't happen on a relatively normal installation). The root-cause was a misbehaving CRM program creating way too many session files and never deleting them. However, while debugging, it would have been really really helpful if there were something in the logfiles. But it just failed silently: the lack of any error message makes diagnosing this error condition 100x harder than it should be. We get messages about being out of disk-space, but that's not helpful, especially when "df -h" shows it not to be true. So, the bug report/feature request is this: when the kernel cannot create a new file due to a shortage of inodes, it should emit a message to that effect, at least in dmesg (and ideally also to syslog). [For anyone else who chances upon this bug report, you can tell if you have run out of inodes with "df -i", and you can find the offending directories with: "find / -xdev -size +100k -type d" ] ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665833 Title: inode exhaustion should be logged to dmesg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1665833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1589008] Re: Bluetooth freezing video playback In Ubuntu/Kubuntu 16.04
Tracked it further down (ubuntu 16.04). On a fresh boot - bluetooth device connects, with sound enabled (I configured bluetooth to default to bluetooth sound device on connect) - video playback does not stop - Sound is played perfectly fine. After a suspend to ram and suspend - bluetooth connects, but sound is not enabled - video playback stops - Workaround: I have to switch from A2DP to HSP/HFP and back to A2DP. - After applying the workaround (manually, every time), video playback continues, sound plays fine via BT. I've just updated to HWE kernel 4.8.0-36-generic. But that did not change anything, compared to 4.4 kernel. To sum up: It's related to suspend/resume, at least sometimes. [Bug 1570472] Re: Set systemd as default service provider
Each release is getting a slightly different fix, unfortunately. Zesty (4.8.2-3ubuntu1) is getting an adaptation of the Debian change which simply makes systemd the default on all Ubuntu and then switches back to upstart if it doesn't see /run/systemd/system (I will coordinate with the Debian maintainers to see if this is going upstream). Yakkety has a version of my upstreamed change, so we just add 16.10 to the list. Xenial is a much older codebase, but the minimal fix tested by a few folks via my PPA still applies and is what I have uploaded.
