[Bug 1667894] [NEW] Remote desktop documenation not complete
Public bug reported: The documentation on desktop sharing is incomplete. It describes how to turn it on but not how to use it. I have always been aware of this feature but I actually never tried to use it until today. Expecting it to just work. Turning sharing on is simple but it is completely unclear and undocumented how one would connect to the shared desktop. Remmina is default installed on a Ubuntu system but I don't think this is the software to use for this feat. Because the documentation is not complete I cannot use this feature. I have to find another way like installing VNC server. https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/sharing-desktop.html ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1667894 Title: Remote desktop documenation not complete To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1667894/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 647835] Re: Add option to wait for /var/lib/dpkg/lock to become free
This type of situation can have a significant impact on scripted configuration. The situation first and foremost on my mind is adding packages via either UserData or Cfn-Init inside of the AWS EC2 service. Additionally, Packer and Vagrant using the Shell provisioner would be affected, and I'm sure there are many other cases, as well. My point is that this has the potential to affect far more than just a one-time single user interaction, but it would actually make it easier to remove some kludgey workarounds that may be necessary to overcome dpkg locks in an enterprise environment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/647835 Title: Add option to wait for /var/lib/dpkg/lock to become free To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/aptitude/+bug/647835/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1665822] Re: fish crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI__IO_wfile_xsputn()
I am a fish developer. What version of fish are you using? What does `locale` report? Steps to reproduce? Can you set `ulimit -c unlimited` and reproduce the problem to get a core dump for analysis? Note that we recently made several changes to avoid mixing narrow and wide stdio calls which can lead to unpredictable behavior so the fish version you're using is important. Can confirm, I have the same issue. As a temporary fix (I couldnt find where CONFIG_COMPAT was defined in the 4.4 lts xenial kernel in 16.04.1), I added the following to the very top of /usr/src/rtl8812au-4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg/os_dep/linux/rtw_android.c : ``` # Note: This not a correct general purpose solution but for building on amd64 16.04.2 it works fine. #ifdef CONFIG_COMPAT #undef CONFIG_COMPAT #endif ``` This allowed me to build the driver on amd64 16.04.2, followed by the following: ``` sudo dkms remove -m rtl8812au/4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg --all sudo dkms install -m rtl8812au -v 4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg sudo modprobe -r 8812au sudo modprobe 8812au # unplug/replug the usb device sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager ``` The driver will now work with the 4.8 HWE kernel on 16.04.2 and so far the networking in general seems far more stable than with the xenial kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1637059 Title: rtl8812au-dkms 4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg-0ubuntu2: rtl8812au kernel module failed to build [error: implicit declaration of function ‘is_compat_task’] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rtl8812au/+bug/1637059/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1662120 Title: rtl8812au 4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg-0ubuntu2 ADT test failure with linux-hwe 4.8.0-37.39~16.04.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rtl8812au/+bug/1662120/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1652185] Re: kernel BUG at /build/linux-7x12eW/linux-4.4.0/drivers/ata/sata_mv.c:2120!
Google sent me here. I know I'm not ubuntu. Sorry. I experienced this issue on these: 1. debian backports linux-image-4.9.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 4.9.2-2~bpo8+1 2. linux-image-4.6.2 (custom compiled) I got around these issues by booting this debian kernel : linux- image-3.16.0-4-amd64 3.16.39-1+deb8u1 And then I was able to use the system long enough to discover the drive was bad. Once replacing the failed drive (which appears to be what exploited this bug), I booted back into linux-image-4.9.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 4.9.2-2~bpo8+1 Once in 4.9 I ran the appropriate mdadm commands to get the array to start rebuilding. The array is currently rebuilding in 4.9 and the issue appears to gone.
