[Bug 1650740] Re: dhclient depends on fstab 16.04LTS

2017-02-27 Thread felix
My bad, I did `cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/guestfs/supermin.d/init.tar.gz{,.orig}` and patched the original
archive. However, the *orig file will still be picked up. Along the
way, I cleaned everything *.img and .guest* from /var/tmp - not sure if
this was necessary.

So, with only /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/guestfs/supermin.d/init.tar.gz
in place (and not a backup version in the same directory) and cleaned
caches, virt-builder does stuff and exits with 0. Thanks autostatic.

[Bug 1668093] Re: ssh-keygen -H corrupts already hashed entries

2017-02-27 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I appreciate the quality of this bug report and I'm sure
it'll be helpful to others experiencing the same issue.

As I proved in my checks this is an upstream bug. OTOH while annoying it
is not "very" fatal other than for convenience or certain automation
(which could code workarounds I think).

That said the best route to getting it fixed in Ubuntu in this case
would be to file an upstream bug. It would be great if you're able to do
that.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what we can do directly in Ubuntu to fix the
problem.

If you do end up filing an upstream bug, please link to it from here so we get
auto-notified once there is something we can merge or even backport depending
on the complexity.
Thanks!

[Bug 1668093] Re: ssh-keygen -H corrupts already hashed entries

Building and testing latest released upstream
https://mirror.hs-esslingen.de/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/openssh-7.4p1.tar.gz

autoreconf && ./configure && make -j 4
And Testing local ./ssh-keygen just built.

To make sure lib dependencies are not the one that introduce this I
built this on Trusty and Zesty after pulling in the "usual" build
dependencies for openssh via "apt-get build-dep openssh".

openssh-7.4p1$ ./ssh-keyscan 10.245.71.133 > ~/.ssh/known_hosts

openssh-7.4p1$ cp ~/.ssh/known_hosts ~/.ssh/known_hosts-upstream-step3

# Show the error of hashes now being unknown
openssh-7.4p1$ ./ssh ubuntu@10.245.71.133

Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?

The Test can be driven further, the following loop shows nothing on good
systems (no diff after the first hashing), while on broken systems it does
rehash (and therefore show diff) over and over again.
for i in $(seq 1 20); do ssh-keygen -H; diff -Naur /root/.ssh/known_hosts.old
/root/.ssh/known_hosts; done

[Bug 1668093] Re: ssh-keygen -H corrupts already hashed entries

2017-02-27 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
And the behavior is clearly against what the manpage says:
-H Hash a known_hosts file. This replaces all hostnames and addresses
with hashed representations within the specified file; the original content is
moved to a file with a .old suffix. These hashes may be used normally by ssh
and sshd, but they do not reveal identifying information should the file's
contents be disclosed. This option will not modify existing hashed hostnames
and is therefore safe to use on files that mix hashed and non-hashed names.

[Bug 1668392] Re: xmaxima plots %e^sin(x) using gnuplot funny

2017-02-27 Thread PeterPall
This is a omission in maxima's documentation: Gnuplot expects labels in
a more TeX-like syntax.

How to assign labels to curves with plot I don't know. With draw it
works the following way:

draw2d(
key="e^{sin(x)}",grid=true,
explicit(
exp(sin(x)),
x,-10,10
)
);

Kind regards,
 Gunter.

[Bug 1665143] Re: Commission scripts select the wrong nvme device link, then fails to report any storage

2017-02-27 Thread John George
I applied the patch to /usr/lib/python3/dist-
packages/provisioningserver/refresh/node_info_scripts.py on our failing
maas and restarted maas-regiond.service (sudo systemctl status maas-
regiond.service).

Storage was reported as expected, after re-commission of existing nodes;
I also removed a node, re-enlisted and commissioned. The test was done
with both the default and HWE 16.06 commissioning kernels.

PCIE port bus driver simply exposed this issue with pnv-php module and
since its not needed on ppc64 we requested it to be disabled. Since the
core issue lies with pnv-phb hence ideally we would like above patches
to be applied so that the issue doesnt get reproduced in any other way.

[Bug 1665802] Re: [regression] mir_demo_client_eglplasma results in 100% cpu and hardly any updates in dragonboard

2017-02-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Dropped priority.

Now we understand this problem, it's just going to be a series of
workarounds in Mir, and Chris suggested another good one in the hangout
today that might also fix it for radeon and nouveau (bug 1211700). Plus
we have some workarounds proven already in comment #20.

Long term we need a proper fix in the driver, so it's a Mesa bug. A solution in
theory already exists:

[Bug 1664705] Re: Xmir crashed with SIGABRT in __gnu_cxx::__verbose_terminate_handler()

2017-02-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Unfortunately there is not enough debug information in those stack
traces to see what the problem is, other than libmirclient.so.9 has
thrown an exception.

Do you have any console output from the crash, or can you reproduce it
somehow?

CPU hotplug on pseries guests is done via device_add command. cpu-add
was never supported for them. This looks very odd as libvirt is
shouldn't even be generating such a monitor command.

Assigning this to Shiva to investigate as to why libvirt is issuing cpu-
add here.

[Bug 1668006] Re: Keyboard unresponsive after suspend Ubuntu 16.04 with touchscreen

2017-02-27 Thread nacenteno
Hi Joseph,

I appreciate your help with this issue.

I got the laptop late on 2015 new and installed 16.04 removing the
original OS (Win10).

The issue has been there since the very first start on Ubuntu 16.04 but
Windows 10 never had issues.

As for the upstream kernel, I see several Kernels 4.10 and 4.10.1, sorry
but your instruction is vague. I am not going to guess and install
without a very specific target.

Is there other specific log of settings you need to see before trying
any install?

Let me know.

Thanks.

The solution it seems is for Unity8 to have an Xmir -rootless started
and ready at login to support legacy X apps (that are not pure GTK).
Only problem with that is that you will then hit bug 1577641.

[Bug 1668485] [NEW] Xorg intel blank screen

2017-02-27 Thread André Claudino
Public bug reported:

I have an Hybrid graphics card, my lspci output for then is:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06)
02:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM107M [GeForce GTX 960M] (rev a2)

Once installed nvidia drivre, things work fine (instead they don't with
noveau). But my problem is using intel driver. This is parte of my
xorg.conf for nvidia (complete file is attached).

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "layout"
Screen 0 "nvidia"
Inactive "intel"
EndSection

I have installed xserver-xorg-video-intel and just change xorg.conf

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "layout"
Screen 0 "intel"
Inactive "nvidia"
EndSection

this way, when restarting, I get frozen blank screen while booting, and can't
do anything other than pressing the power button and and reboot.

So, I have to start in recovery mode, only way I can work in terminal,
and change xorg.

[Bug 1668425] Re: LibreOffice calc spins endlessly on launch, zesty u8

2017-02-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1668429 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1668429

Failure to open display is a general problem with native X apps on
Unity8. It just means we don't have an X server running (or accessible)
so the app can't start. That will be the same fix for all apps, so make
it bug 1668429.

also, the bug for LO calc is slightly different ( bug 1668425 ) even tho
it was marked as a duplicate. I just want to call it out here
separately since it doesn't just close the window like the other apps.

[Bug 1668429] Re: X apps fail to launch with failure to open display (no Xmir running or no access to it)

2017-02-27 Thread Stephen M. Webb
The log shows Firefox is being run natively under Unity 8 (no Xmir).
Firefox is known to not be built natively for Mir, so it's not a
surprise that it it not start.

Assuming that an Xmir instance should be launched just in case for any
and all applications run under Unity 8 was purposefully disabled to
prevent unwanted empty black windows from covering the screen.

Here's a terminal command for working Firefox:

mirrun Xmir :1 -sw -rootless -flatten --desktop_file_hint=unity8 & sleep

You don't need all those options. Just -sw to work around bug 1607238,
and -flatten to work around bug 1625846.

[Bug 1668419] Re: out of order focus of child window u8 zesty

2017-02-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
"couldn't really enter input into the surface at all"

That's because the About dialog is modal; meant to stay on top and never
give focus back to the app window till it's closed. You can confirm that
in Unity7.

So this is just a simple window management bug.

[Bug 1668474] [NEW] AH00526 when using long ProxyPass worker name

2017-02-27 Thread Brian Morton
Public bug reported:

When using a long ProxyPass worker name such as unix:///var/php-
fpm/146527084714328.sock|fcgi://localhost/home/mysite/domains/subdomain.com/public_html/$1
Apache issues the fatal error AH00526 and refuses to proceed during
reload. This is a typical configuration generated by Virtualmin for a
subdomain running php-fpm.

A couple of workarounds are available using mod_rewrite, but they do not
use connection pooling for the proxy and aren't available for packaged
solutions like Virtualmin. The patch from trunk is fairly
straightforward.
