[Bug 1529105] Re: Not able to install xserver-xorg-input-aiptek package
Affects me on 16.04, as well. After a fresh install of ubuntu-16.04.2-desktop-amd64, my first action was sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-aiptek This would refuse install justified with dependency problems stated in bug report. sudo apt-get install aptitude and then sudo aptitude install xserver-xorg-input-aiptek would send me on a hilarious journey of removing ubuntu-desktop and other basic stuff, where I either end up with a graphical session but no inpu drivers, no graphical session at all or -when trying to install basic graphical AND input packages- have the graphical session back, but no aiptek drivers. On Xubuntu (Ubuntu Studio 14.04) install of aiptek drivers works flawless. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1529105 Title: Not able to install xserver-xorg-input-aiptek package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-aiptek/+bug/1529105/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1640970] Re: 16.10: VPN Connections -> Configure VPN grayed out
I'm also going to add to this. I have just done a clean install of 16.04 LTS and OpenVPN connects intermittently. Despite installing openvpn, network-manager-openvpn, and network-manager-openvpn-gnome, the "Configure VPN..." option remains grayed out. In addition, after creating my VPN profile via 'Edit Connections...', I'm not able to consistently create a VPN tunnel to the office. Attached are 2 files: success and failure. Both files contain pertinent lines from /var/log/syslog with success showing a success full connection and failure showing a failed connection. In both cases, I get a notification pop-up that suggests that the vpn connected successfully :(. When the VPN fails to connect, the 'tun0' interface has no IP Address and is in a down state. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640970 Title: 16.10: VPN Connections -> Configure VPN grayed out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1640970/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1656712] Re: Update flatpak and ostree to 0.8
I tried installing Clocks with Flatpak but I got an error because apparently its gsettings schema wasn't installed, so I installed Iagno instead. I then upgraded Flatpak to 0.8.2-1ubuntu16.10.1 (and ostree 2016.15-2ubuntu1~ubuntu16.10.1) and verified that I could still run the Iagno flatpak and that the gnome and gnome-apps remote sources were still set up. I then installed Devhelp with the new flatpak and ran it successfully. The important part of verifying this SRU for Ubuntu 16.10 is that earlier installed Flatpaks still work and that it's possible to install new apps. ** Description changed: Impact == Flatpak 0.8 is a new LTS release of the alternative package set. https://blogs.gnome.org/alexl/2016/12/22/a-stable-base-for-flatpak-0-8/ This update includes these components for 16.04 LTS and 16.10: - flatpak 0.8.2 - ostree 2016.15 This basically matches the set that is also available in Debian's upcoming new stable release. All of these source packages are new to 16.04 LTS. Test Case = 1. Install an app with the old syntax (before upgrading flatpak and ostree) sudo apt install flatpak wget https://people.gnome.org/~alexl/keys/gnome-sdk.gpg flatpak remote-add --user --gpg-import=gnome-sdk.gpg gnome http://sdk.gnome.org/repo/ flatpak --user install gnome org.gnome.Platform 3.22 flatpak --user remote-add --gpg-import=gnome-sdk.gpg gnome-apps http://sdk.gnome.org/repo-apps/ - flatpak --user install gnome-apps org.gnome.Clocks stable + flatpak --user install gnome-apps org.gnome.iagno - After upgrading flapak and ostree, check whether the Clocks app is - still installed. + Note that you may need to logout and log back in after installing your + first Flatpak app before the app shows up in the Activities Overview. + + After upgrading flapak and ostree, check whether the Iagno app is still + installed. 2. Install an app with the new syntax flatpak remote-add --from gnome https://sdk.gnome.org/gnome.flatpakrepo flatpak remote-add --from gnome-apps https://sdk.gnome.org/gnome-apps.flatpakrepo - flatpak install gnome-apps org.gnome.gedit - flatpak run org.gnome.gedit + flatpak --user install gnome-apps org.gnome.Devhelp + flatpak run org.gnome.Devhelp (or click the launcher like any other app) The test case for ostree is just making sure flatpak works. Regression Potential There's no regression for Ubuntu 16.04 since these are new packages there that should have no affect on other packages. For 16.10, this has an inherent regression. The command-line syntax changed in flatpak 0.6.13. However, since virtually all of the guides to using Flatpak including http://flatpak.org/apps use the new syntax that will not work with 16.10's older flatpak, it seems better for users to get used to the new syntax. Other Info == Just like snap was backported to 14.04 LTS to -updates, this is being backported to 16.04 LTS -updates. Both snap and Flatpak are useful for people who want to run new apps on an LTS operating system. Flatpak is not easily backportable to 14.04 LTS. bubblewrap is required for this SRU and is being tracked in LP: #1649330 A separate SRU may be filed later to update xdg-desktop-portal and xdg- desktop-portal-gtk. They are optional dependencies and I'm told that most Flatpak apps do not use them yet. ** Tags removed: verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1656712 Title: Update flatpak and ostree to 0.8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flatpak/+bug/1656712/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 565189] Re: Install boot loader chooses wrong drive
Hey Phillip. Appreciate your response, but that's only if you go through the "Something else"/Advanced partition editor branch of the installer. If you go through the "Erase disk and install Ubuntu" install mode instead, there's no choice or warning that sda's bootloader will be overwritten. And since I don't want to fiddle with creating partitions, it makes sense to choose the "Erase disk and install Ubuntu" branch. (As an aside, it's also confusing that the "Install Now" button does not in fact trigger the installation -- it spawns a popup warning about partitions that are about to be written. [Bug 1673817] Re: update-secure-boot-policy behaving badly with unattended-upgrades
Per my last comment on IRC, I think 'exit 1' is actually better here because we aren't taking the specified action. grub calls update- secureboot-policy || true, but that just sets the trigger anyway. shim- signed calls without the || true, and so the trigger will fail under this condition. [Bug 1673625] Re: 10-globally-managed-devices.conf contained in wrong package
Right, I gathered that part. But then again so are things like resolved and snap which I consider optional (and the former has been breaking DNS in my VMs, 10-dns-resolved.conf made it more fun.) I considered, based on the logic of "this configuration 'comes' for another package and breaks this package" should be enough, but yes I've had to track down as to why I had no networking with NM installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1673625 Title: 10-globally-managed-devices.conf contained in wrong package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nplan/+bug/1673625/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck! [This is an automated message. [Bug 1668724] Re: fails to mount cgroupfs inside containers running on 16.04
Sorry, this got lost in my inbox. I used dput. I seemed to recall that in some recent cycle the it became either ok or preferred to use $release-updates instead of $release-proposed in SRUs. I can trivially change it ack to yakkety-proposed if preferred. For Trusty, I just noticed that the non-backports version was so old noone could really be using it (and AIUI trusty-backport is enabled by default). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1668724 Title: fails to mount cgroupfs inside containers running on 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cgroup-lite/+bug/1668724/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
