[Bug 1635049] Re: Boot fails with degraded mdadm raid

2017-04-10 Thread Eero
> And your boot is waiting for you to unlock the encrypted volume...
> only after which the volume groups will be detected.

Why do you lie? You didn't even look what I reported?

The first screenshot clearly shows that the boot fails before password is even
asked.
The second screenshot shows that the password is asked when I attached the
drive again.

I've submitted a bug report regarding this to Ubuntu and Debian, but
nobody seems to care. It's 2017 and RAID 1 doesn't work...

** Tags added: apport-collected zesty

** Description changed:

  Non-Optimus laptop ASUS G752VS (Nvidia GTX1070)
  Ubuntu 17.04
  Xorg-Server-1.19.3
  Nvidia driver 375.39

  Situation on 2017-04-05:
Ubuntu 17.04 doesn't save my brightness settings. I can adjust the screen
brightness, but after restarting the screen brightness of my laptop resets to
maximum.

  Situation on 2017-04-08:
Today I received many Ubuntu updates (kernel included), and I also installed
freshly released Nvidia 381.09 driver (via “Graphics Drivers” team -
Proprietary GPU Drivers PPA).
Now brightness settings are correctly saved, but I have a new problem:
changing brightness level doesn't produce any effect (both with or without
Nvidia driver installed)

Inside "/sys/class/backlight/" I have two folders: "acpi_video0" and
  "acpi_video1"

  ~$ systemctl status systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service
  ● systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service - Load/Save Screen

   Docs: man:systemd-backlight@.service(8)

  ~$ systemctl status systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video1.service
  ● systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video1.service - Load/Save Screen
Backlight B
 Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-backlight@.service; static;

Active: active (exited) since Sat 2017-04-08 13:37:31 CEST; 22min ago
   Docs: man:systemd-backlight@.service(8)
   Main PID: 684 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)

  Situation on 2017-04-10:
I purged Nvidia 381.09 driver and reinstalled default Nvidia 375.39 via
additional drivers.
Now the situation has returned to initial problem: I can again adjust the
screen brightness, but after restarting the screen brightness of my laptop
again resets to maximum.

[Bug 1679403] Re: Missing dep8 tests

2017-04-10 Thread Joshua Powers
@yadi, thanks for looking at this! When I filed a number of bugs around
missing dep8 tests I did my best to catch source packages that did not
contain binaries/source-only.

I think your proposed test would give an uploader a greater sense of
security when uploading a new version of the package. However, given how
little the package has been updated in the past and that it does not
contain binaries or depend on anything I believe the risk is low.
Therefore I am also fine with closing as invalid as well.

@mozit

i suppose you already know these commands:
- sudo apt-get clean
- sudo apt-get autoclean
- sudo apt-get autoremove
- sudo dpkg --configure -a

To clean a bit more, gtkorphan & bleachbit can also be used.

And for the record, questions are usually asked via
ubuntuforums/askubuntu; learning via the many ubuntu's wiki/howto you
can find around the buntu galaxy.

[Bug 1573681] Re: conflict when managing LXD storage with Juju 2.0

2017-04-10 Thread John A Meinel
I thought with juju 2.1+ we no longer configure storage for LXD, which
means we would no longer conflict.

I suppose as we introduce support for more directly controlling storage
for lxd resources, we'll want to be using the new APIs and carving out
our own pools.

Can we confirm if 2.1+ still experiences this failure?

[Bug 1583009] Re: Error starting domain since update

2017-04-10 Thread Saverio Proto
I confirm the workaround on commment 14 worked also for me.

I had this bug after upgrading from Trusty to Xenial using Openstack
Mitaka.

You can see the problem in nova-compute.log

For Openstack this is very nasty bug because everything will fail to be
scheduled on that compute-node, but the neutron port will not be cleaned
up. So when finally the instance will be spawned on another compute
node, it will come up with two neutron ports and two IP addresses.

Hello and thank you for filing this bug report.

For now, please use the command-line (`apt update; apt full-upgrade`) as
a workaround. This is an issue with update-manager across many packages
but is not easily reproducible. Marking it as a duplicate of the other

2017-04-10 Thread Marat Khalili
Was just hit by this bug after `apt install lxde` in LXC container under

than 1GB) it was just shock to find out that logout is missing. How is
it even optional, if red button in the south east corner invokes it? Why
is it still not fixed in LTS?

[Bug 1681474] [NEW] Man Pages missing, dependency missing

2017-04-10 Thread Joi Owen
Public bug reported:

Figuring out how to use this package requires studying the package file
contents and the perl sources. The perl environment provides easy ways
to create man pages from perl doc, but the package doesn't provide a
dependency on the perl-doc package, either. I eventually figured out
what I needed to do because I'm a perl developer already.

Could this package please:

  *) Provide /usr/share/doc/metainit/README
  *) /etc/metainit/SKELETON
  *) /usr/share/man/man3/MetaInit::Parse.3.gz, or more appropriately a
man5/metainit file format man page
*) a See Also section in the set of man pages that reference each other

[Bug 1377653] Re: HDMI sound output not detected / NVIDIA optimus laptop

2017-04-10 Thread petersaints
I also have Skylake laptop (ASUS GL502VM) with a GTX 1060 which is
always in Discrete mode (I can't use it in hybrid mode at all) and I
have the same or similar problem (HDMI video: Ok / HDMI audio: Doesn't
work). In my case "lspci -H1" doesn't even list the NVIDIA Audio device.

Any idea of how to fix this?

[Bug 1681470] [NEW] libvirt-daemon-system package post scriptlet of Ubuntu-Cloud Occata for Xenial breaks /etc/group

2017-04-10 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

== Comment: #0 - Carsten Jacobi - 2017-04-10 05:35:09 ==
---Problem Description---
Post installation scriptlet of package libvirt-daemon-system renders /etc/group
database inconsistent, the identical group id is assigned to two different names

Machine Type = IBM zSeries 2827 (EC12)

---Steps to Reproduce---
The addressed package is part of the Ubuntu-Cloud update repository for Occata
on xenial:

APT-Sources: http://ubuntu-cloud.archive.canonical.com/ubuntu xenial-
updates/ocata/main s390x Packages

In case version 1.3.3 of libvirt-daemon-system was installed on the
system and you install version 2.5.0 from the Occata-Repository over it,
the Post-Installation scriptlet will create a setup like this in
/etc/group

root@compzfw1:~# getent group | grep :121:
libvirtd:x:121:
libvirt:x:121:ubuntu,nova

This is not a valid configuration, for example IBM internal tools detect those
setups and mark the corresponding server "non-compliant".
The post-scriptlet in question looks like this:

[...]
add_users_groups()
{
if ! getent group libvirt >/dev/null; then
if getent group libvirtd >/dev/null; then
gid=`getent group libvirtd | getent group libvirtd  | cut -d: -f3`
groupadd --system --non-unique --gid "$gid" libvirt
[...]

If a new group with an existing GID is added, the group which previously was
assigned to that GID must be consequently remove beforehand!

[Bug 1674307] Re: Neutron v9 jumbo frames support

2017-04-10 Thread James Page
I've just redeployed a cloud onto Xenial/Ocata in a similar
configuration; the instances running on the cloud all get the higher MTU
as configured by neutron, irrespective of the MTU on the tunnel bridge.

I've confirmed this using iperf to assess performance between units
including mismatched MTU configurations/reality.

In terms of charm configuration using:

juju config neutron-api network-device-mtu=9000
juju config neutron-gateway instance-mtu=8500

should not be required any longer; if you just set global-physnet-
mtu=9000 neutron will do the maths to figure out overlay overheads and
drop MTU's for network segments as appropriate.

Just as a side note; the versions referenced in the original bug report
are Newton versions, not Ocata versions - maybe there is a different in
function between the two releases.

[Bug 1679184] Re: LVM configuration cannot be removed when volume groups with the same name are found during installation

2017-04-10 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
we could document this corner case better in the docs; and we can
mention this in the release notes as a known issue.

I am wondering that maybe partman-lvm could be enchanced to handle this
usecase by passing (usually redudandatly the vg_uuid parameter).

In practice, there are many corner cases with lvm: e.g. in the past
people have tried to use volume groups with clash with device names in
/dev or clash with hostname received from DHCP; all of these scenarios
lead to LVM installs failing. This is just one more variation on the
above.

If one uses automated lvm install we try to use a uniquish volume group
name, but it is not guaranteed to work given that there are currently no
checks on clashing and trying some other name.

I have an idea to fix this easily; I'll try it out now, and if it works
that will maybe squeeze in to zesty.

[Bug 1680853] Re: Debian installer will not take a no for the timezone question

2017-04-10 Thread Stefan Bader
Additionally tested Xenial/16.04 and Yakkety/16.10 isos and while Xenial
will ask for the timezone after declining auto-detection, Yakkety does
not. So not a new regression in Zesty but one between Xenial and
Yakkety.
