Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck! [This is an automated message. [Bug 1682711] [NEW] PCIe ASPM disabled even when enabled in FADT and pcie_aspm=force / setpci used
Public bug reported: This is somewhat similar in issue to lp#1377596. I have a "Lenovo ThinkCentre m900 Tiny" with an "Intel 600p" NVMe drive in it. As far as I can tell from dissembling the FADT PCIe ASPM is not set to disabled but the ports are not enabled in UEFI during boot. I also notice that the PCIe ASPM debug files are not in sysfs like they normally are ie: link_state I tried running the following manually but I think it must not be enough as the NVMe drive does not run any cooler as it does in a system with known working ASPM. setpci -s 00:1b.0 0x50.B=0x3 setpci -s 00:1c.0 0x50.B=0x3 setpci -s 01:00.0 0x80.B=0x3 setpci -s 02:00.0 0x50.B=0x3 I noticed via lspci that the root ports say ASPM not supported even though the FADT doesn't have them disabled. Is that the reason its still not working and how do I work around that issue? Also is there something specific I can tell Lenovo to do to fix this issue on their end, if it can't be worked around in Linux? I have an open case with them via the UEFI engineering team but so far its been slow going since I don't have anything concrete to tell them to fix. === 00:1b.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-H PCI Root Port #17 (rev f1) (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: [40] Express (v2) Root Port (Slot+), MSI 00 DevCap: MaxPayload 256 bytes, PhantFunc 0 ExtTag- RBE+ DevCtl: Report errors: Correctable+ Non-Fatal+ Fatal+ Unsupported+ RlxdOrd- ExtTag- PhantFunc- AuxPwr- NoSnoop- MaxPayload 128 bytes, MaxReadReq 128 bytes DevSta: CorrErr- UncorrErr- FatalErr- UnsuppReq- AuxPwr+ TransPend- LnkCap: Port #17, Speed 8GT/s, Width x4, ASPM not supported, Exit Latency L0s <1us, L1 <16us ClockPM- Surprise- LLActRep+ BwNot+ ASPMOptComp+ LnkCtl: ASPM Disabled; RCB 64 bytes Disabled- CommClk+ ExtSynch- ClockPM- AutWidDis- BWInt- AutBWInt- LnkSta: Speed 8GT/s, Width x4, TrErr- Train- SlotClk+ DLActive+ BWMgmt+ ABWMgmt- SltCap: AttnBtn- PwrCtrl- MRL- AttnInd- PwrInd- HotPlug- Surprise- Slot #0, PowerLimit 25.000W; Interlock- NoCompl+ SltCtl: Enable: AttnBtn- PwrFlt- MRL- PresDet- CmdCplt- HPIrq- LinkChg- Control: AttnInd Unknown, PwrInd Unknown, Power- Interlock- SltSta: Status: AttnBtn- PowerFlt- MRL- CmdCplt- PresDet+ Interlock- Changed: MRL- PresDet- LinkState+ RootCtl: ErrCorrectable- ErrNon-Fatal- ErrFatal- PMEIntEna+ CRSVisible- RootCap: CRSVisible- RootSta: PME ReqID , PMEStatus- PMEPending- DevCap2: Completion Timeout: Range ABC, TimeoutDis+, LTR+, OBFF Not Supported ARIFwd+ DevCtl2: Completion Timeout: 50us to 50ms, TimeoutDis-, LTR+, OBFF Disabled ARIFwd- LnkCtl2: Target Link Speed: 8GT/s, EnterCompliance- SpeedDis- Transmit Margin: Normal Operating Range, EnterModifiedCompliance- ComplianceSOS- Compliance De-emphasis: -6dB LnkSta2: Current De-emphasis Level: -3.5dB, EqualizationComplete+, EqualizationPhase1+ EqualizationPhase2+, EqualizationPhase3+, LinkEqualizationRequest- Capabilities: [80] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit- Address: fee00218 Data: Capabilities: [90] Subsystem: Lenovo Sunrise Point-H PCI Root Port Capabilities: [a0] Power Management version 3 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0+,D1-,D2-,D3hot+,D3cold+) Status: D0 NoSoftRst- PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- Capabilities: [100 v1] Advanced Error Reporting UESta: DLP- SDES- TLP- FCP- CmpltTO- CmpltAbrt- UnxCmplt- RxOF- MalfTLP- ECRC- UnsupReq- ACSViol- UEMsk: DLP- SDES- TLP- FCP- CmpltTO- CmpltAbrt- UnxCmplt+ RxOF- MalfTLP- ECRC- UnsupReq- ACSViol- UESvrt: DLP+ SDES- TLP- FCP- CmpltTO- CmpltAbrt- UnxCmplt- RxOF+ MalfTLP+ ECRC- UnsupReq- ACSViol- CESta: RxErr- BadTLP- BadDLLP- Rollover- Timeout- NonFatalErr- CEMsk: RxErr- BadTLP- BadDLLP- Rollover- Timeout- NonFatalErr+ AERCap: First Error Pointer: 00, GenCap- CGenEn- ChkCap- ChkEn- Capabilities: [140 v1] Access Control Services ACSCap: SrcValid+ TransBlk+ ReqRedir+ CmpltRedir+ UpstreamFwd- EgressCtrl- DirectTrans- ACSCtl: SrcValid- TransBlk- ReqRedir-

Hi Brian and G.M., > until comment #17 is investigated further. IMHO, comment #17 is other bug and not affect this patch. * The original bug is reproducible by description way. * Already confirmed that the original bag is fixed with this patch. * comment #17 isn't reproducible at least on Brian's and my environment. * Not known whether comment #17 is reproducible with old version. Additionally to this, the original bug and patch is mainly affect wrapped line with wide characters. However sample text on comment #17 has a line with wide character, and it seems that the line isn't wrapped why is very short. > G.M. [Bug 1680513] Re: Migrating KSM page causes the VM lock up as the KSM page merging list is too large
** Description changed: + [Impact] After numad is enabled and there are several VMs running on the same host machine(host kernel version: 4.4.0-72-generic #93), the softlockup messages can be observed inside the VMs' dmesg. First, the crashdump was captured when the symptom was observed. At the first glance, it looks like an IPI lost issue. The numad process initiates a migration of memory, and as part of this, needs to flush the TLB cache of another CPU. When the crash dump was taken, that - other CPU has the TLB flush pending, but not executed. + other CPU has the TLB flush pending, but not executed. The numad kernel task is holding a semaphore lock mmap_sem(for the VM's memory) to do the migration, and the tasks that actually end up being blocked are other virtual CPUs for the same VM. These tasks need to access or make changes to the memory map for the VM because of the VM page fault, but cannot acquire the semaphore lock. However, the original thoughts on the root cause (unhandled IPI or csd lock issue) are incorrect. - We originally suspected an issue with a lost IPI (inter processor interrupt) that performs remote CPU cache flushes during page migration, or a known issue with the "csd" lock used to synchronize the remote CPU cache flush. A lost IPI would be a function of the system firmware or chipset (it is not a CPU issue), but the known csd - issue is hardware independent. + issue is hardware independent. Gavin created the hotfix kernel with changes in the csd_lock_wait function that would time out if the unlock never happens (the end result of either cause), and print messages to the console when that - timeout occurred. The messages look like: + timeout occurred. The messages look like: csd_lock_wait called %d times csd: Detected non-responsive CSD lock (#%d) on CPU#%02d, waiting %Ld.%03Ld secs for CPU#%02d However, the VMs are still experiencing the hangs, but the csd_lock_wait timeout is not happening. This suggests that the csd lock / lost IPI is not the actual cause. In the crash dump, the numad task has induced a migration, and the - stack is as follows: + stack is as follows: - #1 [885f8fb4fb78] smp_call_function_many - #2 [885f8fb4fbc0] native_flush_tlb_others - #3 [885f8fb4fc08] flush_tlb_page - #4 [885f8fb4fc30] ptep_clear_flush - #5 [885f8fb4fc60] try_to_unmap_one - #6 [885f8fb4fcd0] rmap_walk_ksm - #7 [885f8fb4fd28] rmap_walk - #8 [885f8fb4fd80] try_to_unmap - #9 [885f8fb4fdc8] migrate_pages - #10 [885f8fb4fe80] do_migrate_pages - + #1 [885f8fb4fb78] smp_call_function_many + #2 [885f8fb4fbc0] native_flush_tlb_others + #3 [885f8fb4fc08] flush_tlb_page + #4 [885f8fb4fc30] ptep_clear_flush + #5 [885f8fb4fc60] try_to_unmap_one + #6 [885f8fb4fcd0] rmap_walk_ksm + #7 [885f8fb4fd28] rmap_walk + #8 [885f8fb4fd80] try_to_unmap + #9 [885f8fb4fdc8] migrate_pages + #10 [885f8fb4fe80] do_migrate_pages The frame #1 is actually in the csd_lock_wait function mentioned above, but the compiler has optimized that call and it does not appear - in the stack. + in the stack. What happens here is that do_migrate_pages (frame #10) acquires the semaphore that everything else is waiting for (and that eventually produce the hang warnings), and it holds that semaphore for the duration of the page migration. This strongly suggests that this single do_migrate_pages call is taking in excess of 10 seconds, and if the csd lock is not stuck, then something else within its call path is - not functioning correctly. + not functioning correctly. We originally suspected that the lost IPI/csd lock hang was responsible for the hung task timeouts, but in the absence of the csd - warning messages, the cause presumably lies elsewhere. + warning messages, the cause presumably lies elsewhere. [Bug 1682701] [NEW] Fails To Connect To WPA2 WiFi
Public bug reported: The task-bar applet showing network connection will not connect to the DSL modem wireless, as it used to do in prior releases. I tried three different wireless dongles, all with the same result. I'm running the live 17.04 system, and I tried it on three different machines as well. Other than the machine I submitted the bug report on (which also has ethernet connectivity), all of my other machines depend on wireless, so 17.04 is not usable. I tried both Lubuntu 17.04 and Xubuntu 17.04, and both live-systems have the same problem. 1) lubuntu@lubuntu:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 17.04 Release:17.04 2) lubuntu@lubuntu:~$ sudo apt-cache policy network-manager-applet N: Unable to locate package network-manager-applet 3) I expected the wireless to connect, as it has always done in prior releases. 4) It tried connecting for a period of time, then gave up. [Bug 1682696] [NEW] apcupsd installer silently overwrites apcupsd.conf
Public bug reported: I upgraded to 17.04 tonight, and when the install finished I started getting reports that apcupsd could no longer communicate with my UPS. @Marc Singer. The new 4.10.3 kernel seems to work ok in my Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3. No need for acpi=off, and all 16 cores show up in the system monitor. Is there anything specific that I can test? [Bug 1540692] Re: Enable the VirtIO GPU 3D (Virgil)
Thanks! That's helpful information. So after learning that mesa isn't the problem, I searched a bit more and found this related Debian bug report: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=839695 The submitter reports the same issue that I'm seeing, namely "GTK support is disabled" seen when attempting to using the "-display gtk" command. The submitter requests that an alternate version of QEMU be built (using the "enable-gtk" option) and be made available in the repository under a distinct package name, such as qemu-gtk or similar. As you can see from the report, the request seems to have been firmly rejected for the time being. So I imagine that the we'll see the same outcome here. When I get a chance, I'll try to build QEMU using the "enable-gtk" option. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #839695 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=839695 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1540692 Title: Enable the VirtIO GPU 3D (Virgil) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1540692/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1680224] Re: auto.smb fails on Windows administrative shares
The two autofs patches Mark has attached aren't yet available on kernel.org but I will (eventually) commit them to the autofs repo. and upload them. The change will be included in autofs-5.1.3. The only difference between what will be upstream and what has been posted will be a single line description added to the autofs CHANGELOG (since there hopefully won't be any further changes needed) and a Signed-off-by line in the description. The first patch is not strictly needed but the use of alloca() can be unreliable in stack overflow conditions as (I believe) it never returns a failure. So since it was used in the area that needed to be changed I thought it best to fix it as part of the change. The patch descriptions hopefully provide enough information for others to understand what the problem was and why the change fixes the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1680224 Title: auto.smb fails on Windows administrative shares To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1680224/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1682690] [NEW] install, remove, install same version: nsswitch.conf bad
Public bug reported: if i install libnss-mdns (via avahi-daemon via cups, say), then *deinstall* it, then *reinstall* it, /etc/nsswitch.conf's host: line doesn't get the mdns entry added (back). (or, so it appears to me.) i'm guessing that on the second add, libnss-mdns.postinst is being called with "configure 0.10-7", or some such, which causes the postinst script to decide it's being re-installed and doesn't need to modify /etc/nsswitch.conf. unfortunately, the intervening remove removed that initial changes to /etc/nsswitch.conf. the symptoms, in my case was CUPS complaining "Unable to locate printer "BRN-015165.local". [Bug 1674038] Re: Complete freeze, Firefox with 3 tabs open
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. Next time, we'd be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1674038 Title: Complete freeze, Firefox with 3 tabs open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1674038/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
