I use Ubuntu 16.04 x64 with KDE instead of Unity, and this issue happens here as well, so in my opinion it shouldn't be linked to just unity or unity at all. Also, I don't use nVidia. Asus ZenBook UX305 IntelHD 515 with 3.0 Mesa 12.0.6 Workaround for me: System Settings -> Display and Monitor -> Compositor And here I have dropdown list with OpenGL3.1, OpenGL 2.0 and Xrender What I usually do is I just switch between two of OpenGL versions and it goes back to normal for some time. Just curious, does this happen when you are using most of the memory of your system? I recall this was the case with me (tens of browser windows open, general computer slowness + hours connected to the VPN = this bug). [Bug 1693968] [NEW] double free error when secure boot is enabled
Public bug reported: I just did an upgrade and rebooted, and upon loading the kernel grub presented me with a "double free" error. It was doing this no matter what kernel I tried to boot, including kernels which were booting fine before. Out of desperation I disabled secure boot in the bios and the kernel loaded and booted without error. When I turned secure boot back on the error came back. It's likely that none of kernels I have installed have a valid signature, since I generally install test builds before uploading kernels, so maybe that's related. Public bug reported: Ubuntu Version: 16.10 and 17.04 gnome-screensaver: 3.6.1-7ubuntu5 Expected Functionality: I expect to be able to interact with the top menu bar from the lock screen in a multi-screen setup. Current Functionality: In Ubuntu 16.10 and 17.04, when locking the screen either by letting the system idle or manually locking the screen, the ability to interact with the top menu bar becomes unresponsive. The ability to switch users, shutdown the system, check battery status, view calendar, etc is no longer accessible. This has been tested on two laptops running 16.10 and one after upgrading to 17.04. Both systems have a multi-screen setup. This only happens after changing focus from the initial locked screen to another screen. As long as the mouse cursor is not moved to another screen, you can access the top menu bar. Once focus changes to another screen, all top menu bar functionality is gone until you log in as the current user. We should include the -l parameter as suggested so that we stand a chance of seeing an error that doesn't occur in the first twenty characters of program output.
