[Bug 1704052] [NEW] Tasque Crashes When Clicking Window Close Button Rather Than Closing To Tray

2017-07-12 Thread Chris Boyle
Public bug reported:

After launching Tasque, the main window displays and the applet in the
tray shows - all as expected. Standard usage works with no issues.
However, clicking the Close window button crashes Tasque completely
rather than hiding the window and keeping the applet in the tray. As a
workaround, you can click the applet in the tray and choose "Toggle Task
Window" to make it work as expected.

Details:

1) Ubuntu Release:
Description:Ubuntu 17.04
Release:17.04

2) Package Version:
tasque:
  Installed: 0.1.12-4.1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.1.12-4.1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.1.12-4.1ubuntu1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu zesty/universe amd64 Packages
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu zesty/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) Expected:
-Open Tasque
-Use as Normal
-When Finished, Click Close on Window and Applet in Tray Remains for Easy Access

4) Happened:
-Open Tasque
-Use as Normal
-When Finished, Click Close on Window and Entire Program Crashes with Error
(See Attachment)

Note that I'm using "Local File" for Task List, rather than Remember the
Milk. So, this shouldn't be related to the Remember the Milk stability
issues.

[Bug 1700373] Re: intel-microcode is out of date, version 20170511 fixes errata on 6th and 7th generation platforms

2017-07-12 Thread Dave Chiluk
Testing done.
X + 4.10 + Sandybridge-E + sig=0x206d6, pf=0x4, revision=0x619 => 0x619
X + 4.4 + Ivy + sig=0x306a9, pf=0x10, revision=0x1c => 0x1c
Y + 4.8 + Ivy + sig=0x306a9, pf=0x10, revision=0x1c => 0x1c
Z + 4.10 + Ivy + sig=0x306a9, pf=0x10, revision=0x1c => 0x1c
Z + 4.10 + Skylake + sig=0x406e3 pf=0x80 revision=0xba => 0xba
X + 4.10 + Kabylake + sig=0x906e9 pf=0x20 revision=0x5e => 0x5e
A + 4.11 + Lynnfield sig=0x106e5, pf=0x20, revision=0x5 => 0x5

So it's a lot of the same compared to previous microcode levels on my
mostly old hardware *(which was expected). Also my only Kabylake machine
is at a sufficiently new bios revision that microcode 0x5e is already
present. I'd appreciate anyone with skylake or kabylake that hasn't yet
upgrade firmware to please test out the packages in my ppa. Thanks in
advance.

@rbasak, yes according to the changelogs for 20170707, it contains the
fixes for Kabylake and skylake-E/X.

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  * A security fix has been made available as part of intel-microcode
  * It is advisable to apply it
  * Thus an SRU of the latest intel-microcode is desirable for all stable
releases

  [Test Case]

  * Upgrade intel-microcode package, if it is already installed / one is
  running on Intel CPUs

  * Reboot and verify no averse results, and/or that microcode for your
  cpu was loaded as expected.

  [Test case reporting]
  * Please paste the output of:

  dpkg-query -W intel-microcode
  grep -E 'model|stepping' /proc/cpuinfo | sort -u
  journalctl -k | grep microcode

  [Regression Potential]
Microcode are proprietary blobs, and can cause any number of new errors and
regressions. Microcode bugs have been reported before, therefore longer than
usual phasing and monitoring of intel-microcode bugs should be done with extra
care.

  * I did not backport the full debian/changelog, as some of the changes
were ommitted for SRU purposes, and I don't like the idea of modifying
  the changelog of others.

- * I did not backport this below change but I feel as though the SRU team
should evaluate including it. I left it out due to the change as little as
possible guidance from the SRU team. Additionally the microcode version that
included this change was somewhere around 20111205. More information here

[Bug 1704046] [NEW] Force sync 0.6.4-2 from Debian Sid

2017-07-12 Thread Simon Quigley
Public bug reported:

Please force sync relatorio 0.6.4-2 from Debian Sid. The delta exists
because Michael Hudson-Doyle fixed an FTBFS introduced with the Python
3.6 transition, which, as you can see below, has been applied in
Debian's packaging.

Changelog entries since current artful version 0.6.4-1ubuntu1:

relatorio (0.6.4-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Change the maintainer address to tryton-deb...@lists.alioth.debian.org
(Closes: #865109).
  * Use the default Python version instead of requesting XS-Python-Version
(Closes: #867773).

[Bug 1697829] Re: Upgrade Redpine WLAN/BT driver to ver. 1.2 (production release)

2017-07-12 Thread Shrirang Bagul
** Description changed:

Upgrade the Redpine WLAN/BT RS9113 driver in Ubuntu Xenial kernel to
ver. 1.2. This version is supposed to be a production release.

This is the latest version of the driver provided by Redpine. For now,
this driver is enabled only on x86, x86_64 architectures. The impact is
  restricted to { SDIO_DEVICE(0x041B, 0x9330) } for SDIO based WiFi-BT
modules and on USB bus, this driver binds only to RS9113, lets upstream
kernel driver handle other RSI chipsets.

[Bug 1700373] Re: intel-microcode is out of date, version 20170511 fixes errata on 6th and 7th generation platforms

2017-07-12 Thread Dave Chiluk
I have packaged up 20170707 for testing in my ppa available

https://launchpad.net/~chiluk/+archive/ubuntu/1700373

These are versioned as

Z=3.20170511.1~ubuntu17.04.0+lp1700373
Y=3.20160714.1+lp1700373b2
X=3.20151106.1+lp1700373b2

I'd appreciate some help testing these before I push on the SRU.

I've also uploaded correctly versioned packages for x, y, z to their
appropriate queues.

[Bug 1703490] Re: Unable to mount network volume on 17.10 Samba server

Use sec=ntlmssp and it will work again.

On the server the default for "ntlm auth" changed from yes to no.
So it will only accept ntlmv2 via ntlmssp anymore.

[Bug 1646784] Re: /usr/lib/snapd-glib/snapd-login-service:11:read_data:read_from_snapd:read_cb:socket_source_dispatch:g_main_dispatch

2017-07-12 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello errors.ubuntu.com, or anyone else affected,

Accepted snapd-glib into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd-
glib/1.13-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1699005] Re: Update to 1.13

2017-07-12 Thread Robert Ancell
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
Older versions of Ubuntu are running older versions of snapd-glib. There have
since been bug fixes and support for newer API that was added to snapd since
release.

  [Test Case]
- 1. Attempt to use new API in snapd-glib
+ 1. Delete existing Snap credentials by deleting keys
com.ubuntu.UbuntuOne.GnomeSoftware in Seahorse.
+ 2. Start GNOME Software
+ 3. Install a snap (e.g. moon-buggy)

  Expected result:
- New API is available
+ User is prompted for Ubuntu credentials and is able to install snap.

  Observed result:
- New API is not available
+ Works as expected (i.e. only looking for regressions).

  [Regression Potential]
There is a risk of breaking existing use cases. This is reduced by the
regression tests in the package and the newer versions of snapd-glib working in
newer releases.

[Bug 1699005] Re: Update to 1.13

2017-07-12 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Robert, or anyone else affected,

Accepted snapd-glib into zesty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd-
glib/1.13-0ubuntu0.17.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-zesty to verification-done-zesty. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-zesty. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1703490] Re: Unable to mount network volume on 17.10 Samba server

2017-07-12 Thread Patrick Dunford
OK here is a fstab from one of my PCs running 17.10 and it tries to
mount shares from two different computers:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
#
# / was on /dev/sdb1 during installation
UUID=0887068e-fc83-4a98-a90f-ccbfdecd8728 /   ext4
errors=remount-ro 0   1
# /home was on /dev/sdc1 during installation
UUID=b6c98b89-941b-4e36-b91b-f011633ae70d /home   ext4
defaults0 2
/swapfile noneswap
sw 0 0
//192.168.1.173/media /mnt/share/mediapc/media cifs
credentials=/home/patrick/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,sec=ntlm 0   0
//192.168.1.116/maps /mnt/share/mainpc/maps cifs
credentials=/home/patrick/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,sec=ntlm 0   0

so mediapc is acting as a Samba server running 16.04 and this one mounts
just fine, mainpc is acting as a Samba server running 17.10 and it
always fails with error 13 permission denied.

Both servers have exactly the same credentials needed so they use the
same credentials file to provide those credentials to mount.cifs through
the mount command. So it fails regardless of whether I let it do it at
startup or if I type sudo mount -a to mount at any time of my choosing.

I have yet to try out any of the other things we have tried with this
computer so that will be my next step and based on so far it will
probably succeed.

On 13/07/17 04:53, Andreas Hasenack wrote:

** Description changed:

I have a computer with a new 17.10 installation, and I have network
resources on it that I want to share to other computers on my network,
using Samba. I set it up the same way with Samba as I did with the old
16.04 installation, but all the other computers on the network that are
running Xubuntu can't connect to it like they did before.

The following are the user experiences of different computers in my
network connecting to shared SMB resources on other computers:

16.04 client mount.cifs to 16.04 server: full access
16.04 client path run/user/1000/gvfs to 16.04 server: full access
17.10 client mount.cifs to 16.04 server: full access

16.04 client mount.cifs to 17.10 server: access denied error
- 17.10 client mount.cifs to 16.04 server: access denied error
+ 17.10 client mount.cifs to 17.10 server: access denied error
16.04 client path run/user/1000/gvfs to 17.10 server: read only access
Windows 10 client explorer map drive to 17.10 server: full access

the server used to run 16.04 and is now running 17.10. It is the same
computer and has the same network resources shared on it that it had
  when it was running 16.04.

The server installation of 17.10 was a clean install but the home folder
was existing on a different volume and was remounted after the install.

As you can see a Windows 10 computer is the only computer in the network
that can connect to the Samba share with full access and no apparent
  difference in the user experience.

[Bug 1686393] Re: [MIR] gdm3

2017-07-12 Thread Seth Arnold
I reviewed gdm3 version 3.24.2-1ubuntu2 as checked into artful. This
should not be considered a full security audit but a quick gauge of
maintainability.

UCT has two CVEs: first, holding esc key allowed bypassing the lock screen.
Second, one REJECTed CVE that was assigned for the usual "desktop visible
shortly after suspend" issue that for some reason everyone is affected by
all the time. (It may not be user-friendly but locking before suspending
is the usual Linux way to make sure it's locked when re-waking.)

- gdm3 is a login/lock display manager
- Build-Depends: gnome-pkg-tools, debhelper, dconf-cli, intltool,
  libdbus-glib-1-dev, libglib2.0-dev, libgtk-3-dev, libpango1.0-dev,
  libcanberra-gtk3-dev, libfontconfig1-dev, libaccountsservice-dev,
  gnome-settings-daemon-dev, gnome-settings-daemon, libnss3-dev,
  libxcb1-dev, libx11-dev, libxau-dev, libxt-dev, libxext-dev, check,
  libgirepository1.0-dev, gobject-introspection, libpam0g-dev,
  libkeyutils-dev, libxdmcp-dev, libwrap0-dev, libxft-dev, libxi-dev,
  libxinerama-dev, libplymouth-dev plymouth-dev, yelp-tools,
  libselinux1-dev, libattr1-dev, iso-codes, libaudit-dev, docbook-xml,
  gsettings-desktop-schemas, libsystemd-dev, xserver-xorg-dev
- Does not itself do encryption
- Appears it still supports xdmcp
- pre-inst file deletes /etc/pam.d/gdm-launch-environment if upgrading
  from 3.10.0.1-3~ or earlier
- pre-rm file has very involved script to manage debconf and systemd
  service files
- post-inst file has involved script to add gdm group and user, manage
debconf, systemd service files, convert gsettings to gconf, and restart
  gdm3 via invoke-rc.d
- post-rm file removes init scripts, /etc files, /var/*/gdm3 directories,
gdm user, gdm group, and manages debconf
- initscript starts systemd logind, rebuilds configuration, uses
  start-stop-daemon to run gdm3
- systemd unit checks with /etc/X11/default-display-manager before
running, loads in the environment from /etc/default/locale
- Fairly complicated dbus interfaces
- No setuid executables
- gdm-screenshot gdm3 and gdmflexiserver executables in the PATH
- No sudo fragments
- No udev rules

- Processes spawned extensively via glib wrappers. I didn't see any cases
of unsafe data being mishandled but the amount of extra overhead in each
  execution is surprising.
- Memory management looked careful if wasteful.
- File management may suffer from leaky abstractions: e.g.
create_auth_file() uses g_open() on the results of g_build_filename(),
  g_mkdir_with_parents(), and g_get_user_runtime_dir(), which doesn't have
any error checking on most of these calls. (There's also no O_EXCL,
  O_NONBLOCK, O_NOCTTY, O_NOFOLLOW; I don't know if any of these would fit
in the threat model of the application so they may not be security
issues, but O_EXCL may be important for reliability.)

Errors here appear to percolate to a NULL pointer added to an array in
spawn_x_server() which will hopefully cause X to fail with an error
("expected argument" for the -auth parameter), but may have other
  consequences.
- Extensive logging, looked safe.
- Uses WAYLAND_DISPLAY RUNNING_UNDER_GDM GTK_MODULES DISPLAY XAUTHORITY
  GDM_SESSION_DBUS_ADDRESS GDM_SESSION_FOR_REAUTH XDG_VTNR WINDOWPATH PATH
  variables
- Sets GTK_MODULES XORG_RUN_AS_USER_OK DISPLAY XAUTHORITY
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS WINDOWPATH WINDOWPATH PATH LOGNAME USER
  USERNAME HOME SHELL variables
- Privileged operations sometimes do not check return errors
- No cryptography
- Temporary files appear to be created safely
- No WebKit
- Clean cppcheck (three cppcheck errors)
- I didn't see polkit use

Here's some notes I took while reading the source code:

- 88 cases of "deprecation warning"
- chown and chmod errors in the build logs (below)
- chmod/chown in debian/: WARNING:
  debian/gdm3.postinst:chown -R gdm:gdm /var/lib/gdm3
- /bin/sh as shell in debian/: WARNING:

No response 48 days later. (Also, wow, I'm sorry this review took 48

- gdm_get_script_environment() comment claims to populate the hash with

the call to remove MAIL can be removed.

Public bug reported:

This should allow writing scripts using #!/usr/bin/icon.

[Bug 1701434] Re: netplan apply always exits with status 0

2017-07-12 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Was there any config provided when you did this? Seems like there are
also all the service stop/start commands that should get attempted and
fail (and these do throw exceptions). I don't think failing to unbind
because of a missing file, for example, is critical enough to warrant to
completing the apply, but failing to restart NM or systemd would
definitely be.

I think this will at the very least need more information about the
configuration that was used for netplan.

[Bug 1704024] Re: stack trace on import with python3.6

The only blocker here is figuring out how to align the version number of

[Bug 1688018] Re: DNS server from vpn connection is not being used after network-manager upgrade to 1.2.6

2017-07-12 Thread NJ
Corrections to the above post.

(i) '[I]t its original' should be 'in its original'.

(ii) 'Inference from the conjunction of 1, 2 and 3' should be,
'Inference from the conjunction of 1, 2, 3 and 4' - because I found
another reason.

A facility to edit posts would be welcome (but perhaps that exists and I
overlook it somehow).

[Bug 1688018] Re: DNS server from vpn connection is not being used after network-manager upgrade to 1.2.6

2017-07-12 Thread NJ
1. It has been four months since this bug - it its original incarnation
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1671606)
- was reported.

2. The bug is critical: it breaks security software.

3. The bug has been reported to Ubuntu, which has paid employees.

4. The bug is a regression and hence presumably not especially hard to
fix.

Inference from the conjunction of 1, 2 and 3: *this bug should have been
fixed by now*. Yet, it has not. Nor has any explanation been provided as
to why not, at least not here. Not has there been a shortage of people
asking, politely, for a fix.

Perhaps then a slightly more strident question is in order. To wit: **what
gives?** This is the sort of unfixed major problem that drives people back to
Windows and Mac OS. (I know that https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1 is
closed, but still.)

Could you review what I put in the branches, please? That is: that the
backport contents are suitable in your opinion, and that I haven't
missed anything that might make it inappropriate for SRU - IOW, would
you be happy to sponsor these?

I don't think it's necessary for you to review that the branches were in
fact produced by my script, so I think it'd be sufficient for you to
examine just my scripts.

Note though that there are two branches not produced by my scripts
xenial-transitional for python-certbot and python-certbot-apache
(python-letsencrypt-apache repo). Please check these look good to you
too.

Thanks!

2017-07-12 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Since Tyler mentioned it requires a review anyway, assigning to the

python-bcrypt has lintian warnings on the binary package:

[Bug 1699371] Re: nplan autopkgtests are failing in artful (NM 1.8?)

2017-07-12 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
nplan was clearly not cleaning up after itself in the tests, and left
behind a br0 device that NM would try to manage (and just spin forever,
because there is no IP to be had there, and no DHCP server, etc).

There could still be a real regression in NM though; seems like it
really should not be managing bridges/bonds it didn't create. We filed a
bug upstream about that some time ago, maybe that changed back again?

Absolutely isn't broken, at least here with a hybrid(optimus) device.
To re-confirm just did fresh install from iso of a couple of days ago.
Updated that install fully today.
Installed nvidia drivers (375
rebooted
Enabled KMS via nvidia-graphics-drivers.conf
sudo update-initramfs -u
Rebooted to default session, works fine inc. the added bonus of PRIME
Synchronization: 1 on primary display.

And as mentioned any attempt to log in to a gnome-wayland session fails
with login loop.

[Bug 1690162] Re: [MIR] sbuild

2017-07-12 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Written in perl seems to me like a plus on the maintenance side, since
any perl modules it would need would be well-maintained, in general.

Seems like a straightforward thing indeed, sbuild is well "unofficially-
supported" already, and nothing looks off at a quick review of the
source package. MIR approved.

The logic of the scripts seems sound to me. Do you want me to do the

[Bug 1704013] Re: xenial myth and mate livefses fail to build due to libgles1-mesa

2017-07-12 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Adam, or anyone else affected,

Accepted livecd-rootfs into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-
rootfs/2.408.14 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 667798] Re: Cannot get about:mozilla easter egg

2017-07-12 Thread Gabriel Ramirez
Hi ss900. Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Unfortunately firefox
3.6 packaged by Ubuntu 10.10 has reached end of life.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

I've tried recreating this bug with your release and was unable to,
given the information you've provided. I highly suggest upgrading to the
latest release to retest. If the bug is still reproducible, please
increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate in case we missed
something on our end. Note, if you still can reproduce this I did find
this may potentially be caused by certain addons:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/923073 so I would recommend
disabling those if possible.

Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Regards,
Gabe
