A bit more testing shows completely random results each time the second
configuration is applied. For example this picture shows the problems
now occurring on the Sony screen rather than the Dell screen.

The biggest effect seen on the Sony screen in this instance included
mouse position offset where the mouse is registering in a different
place from where the pointer is.

As soon as I was able to restore the original configuration everything
works fine.

Attachment showing the messed up display. The computer had just been
restarted and there were no programs running, so the stuff displayed in
the top section of the screen was not from any running applications.

Done some more playing and swapped the screens ports around on the card
to make it detect in the same order as I want them on the screen. It
basically doesn't cope with screens that have different resolutions
vertically. Attached picture of the supported positioning of the two
screens.

And here is the configuration that doesn't work. If I apply this the
Dell screen will have a part of it that is duplicated from the Sony
screen, the taskbar and even the mouse position will be offset from this
duplicate part (will try to get a screenshot of it)

I have a Dell 1280x1024 19" screen and Sony 1366x768 32" screen. Due to
the ports they are connected to on the video card they appear by default
in xfce-display-settings in the reverse to their physical layout.

On previous versions of Xubuntu there has not been any problem with
rearranging the display order. On artful I can only get things to work
properly if I leave the display order to the default.

If I try to rearrange the display order on artful all sorts of weird
things happen. The 19" screen only uses two thirds of its vertical
height to display the picture, the rest is drawn as white. The taskbar
disappears completely. The mouse has to be on the opposite screen to the
one where you are working in order to be able to click on anything.

I am using a Aten KVM switch CS1794 hooked on my computer.
It allows the switching for USB, HDMI, and audio.

I run a Ubuntu 17.04 system.

I experience a very long boot time, having done an analysis it appears
that the main problem is the kernel boot time and more specifically the
time it takes to start its USB subsystem.

when you look at the dsmg output you can clearly see a gap between 4-78s
and 79-91s, all in the USB sub-process.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 16.10: the mouse cursor movements became
absolute (similar to Wacom tablets, but unable to reach the edges or
corners of the screen), rather than relative to where my finger was
initially placed on the touchpad. My laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 310, but

happening on a Dell laptop.

Manually installing xserver-xorg-input-all resolved the issue, which
indicates that the decision to switch to xserver-xorg-hwe by default was
severely premature.

Yeah.  There are two  efficient ways to support/protect workers and
ultimately boost the middle  class and economy.  Government  regulation
and unions. America kinda fucked the unions,  and the bad  unions fucked
the good  ones  that  were  left. So  we are  left  with government
regulations. Otherwise history  shows  us clearly that enough businesses
will abuse  their workers  to where it has a significant impact on the
masses and the economy as a whole. It also leaves the good, honest
business people at  a disadvantage.  This  is actually why a majority of
small business  owners  support raising the minimum  wage and other such
propositions.

Well  I'm assuming the dead ones don't just disappear and eventually the
elephants movements will be  limited and they'll all  keep trying to
bite on different parts climbing all over each other. I'm not even
factoring in the biting because  I assume it's  a waste  of time  except
maybe the  ears. While it'd be  more  hilarious for it to die by
crushing it'd likely be long dead from  exhaustion  and  lack of
nourishment first.

[Bug 1704603] [NEW] Juniper/Pulse VPN (SSL VPN) not configurable

While the OpenConnect CLI version available in Ubuntu 16.04.2 supports
connecting to (older but not current firmware versions of) Juniper/Pulse
VPN (SSL VPN) (using the --pulse option), the NM GUI does not allow for
configuring this type of VPN. You can choose to configure an OpenConnect
VPN, but it lacks the option to connect using the specific Juniper
Network Connect / Pulse Secure SSL VPN protocol.

Newer versions of network-manager-openconnect-gnome do, however, allow
for configuring this protocol and work with the openconnect '--protocol
pulse' option of the updated openconnect CLI.

Since Xenial is going to stay, and is the most likely target for
companies which make use of this VPN technology, please do consider to
support this protocol in Xenial by means of a SRU or backport.

The version of both openconnect and, moreover, the NM GUI, is most
likely not usable for any ompany running current VPN access servers
(with current software versions).

If a process binds 127.0.1.1:53 and the network-manager ist started, it
tries to use this port (dnsmasq). It waits until the port is available.
That means no interaction with the network-manager is possible. So
unity-control-center stucks if "Network" is clicked or the nm-applet
does not respond if the user tries to change connection settings.

I think there should be a message that explains the problem: "network-
manager tries to set up dnsmasq on 127.0.1.1:53, but this port is
already in use. Retrying ..." and the associated GUI components should
stay responsive, but only the blocked options should be shown as blocked
by the problem.

You can verify the bug with the provieded script.

Driver: Nvidia 304.135

With Nvidia's legacy driver opening the dash over a maximized window
results in a freeze of X. X can be restarted through Ctrl + Alt +
Backspace. Switching to nouveau solves the problem.

As long as a window remains unmaximized, there's no problem, even if it
fills the entire screen.

Disabling the blur or reverting to Mesa 12 solves the problem.

I have a problem with my sound suddenly stopping working (I'm on Mint
18.2 based on xenial, asus x555l). The work around is to reboot.

Another work around without rebooting: disable pulseaudio, first by
turning off autorespawn https://askubuntu.com/questions/8425/how-to-
temporarily-disable-pulseaudio and then pulseaudio --kill

Then sudo alsa reload

alsactl init

aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav

This responsed (with no audio playback):

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1029:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
aplay: main:722: audio open error: No such file or directory

However, this works: aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
--device=plughw:CARD=PCH,DEV=0

Then "pulseaudio --start" and my audio is back and working!

It appears you have installed the nvidia drivers but were not prompted
to disable secureboot on your system due to bug #1679784.  As a result
the nvidia drivers will not be loaded by the kernel due to the security
policy for signed kernel modules.

This bug has been fixed in later versions of the software-properties-
common package.

To recover your system, you should be able to run 'sudo update-
secureboot-policy --disable' from the console and follow the prompts.

  Adter so many tries to solve this issue we were unable to find a

I have my own server (where I'm running Apache/2.4.27), and today I
realized that from (Brave and Google Chrome - different computers) I'm
getting from my websites this error;

This site can’t provide a secure connection

mywebsite.com sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

And the strange thing is that I'm getting this error every fifth click
on my website.

I discovered that mouse-button-modifier was set to Alt.
