[Bug 1577110] Re: Lockscreen problems in Ubuntu 16.04

2017-08-02 Thread roemer2201
I have the same problem as well. I'm using two screens, but I think
running a virtual machine (virtual box for me) where the mouse cursor is
caught inside, might also be related to the problems.

[Bug 1472598] Re: Deja-dup should not propose ssh as storage location when python-paramiko is not installed

2017-08-02 Thread Michael Terry
Did you actually experience an issue with SSH? Deja Dup doesn't use
duplicity's normal ssh backend, it connects to ssh servers through its
gio backend. So python-paramiko isn't used in the normal cases.

I'll mark this as invalid, but if I'm wrong, please re-open.

** Changed in: deja-dup

This report seems to be a duplicate of 1442892 and 1502837. But can't be
marked as duplicate because of:

Bug 1502837 is already a duplicate of bug 1442892. You can only mark a
bug report as duplicate of one that isnt a duplicate itself.

[Bug 1708348] [NEW] error occured during install.

2017-08-02 Thread Jannu Sudhakar
Public bug reported:

error occured during install, while playing around I discovered that the
bios version(legacy) installs grub correctly (but ofc is of no use
because I cannot tell the computer to load ubuntu installed for bios on
a uefi system). Maybe the grub implementation for uefi has a problem
going to try older version.

Honestly, I don't know. Maybe. But if it works (And for what it's
worth, still hasn't crashed) then that's fine by me.
I have installed chess, VLC, and other minor packages with no problem.
But more importantly, this bug is from 2015, and hasn't been patched?!
Why not? And how do I tell that this bug is the problem?

Re: Ubuntu freezing inevitably and randomly

It finally crashed again! Guess this isn't much of a solution...
Anything else I can try?

For me setting max_cstate=1 didn't solve the bug. It improved the time
to freeze from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. But it is not a fully
and universally working workaround.

And it still is crashing upon boot occasionally! Argh...

[Bug 1070873] Re: kde-telepathy, impossible to connect to gmail accounts

2017-08-02 Thread Brandon Bell
This only started affecting me recently, but I rarely reboot or log out
so it could have just been waiting around.

I am running Kubuntu 17.04 with latest updates.

I've attached a number of log files. I don't know if it's the cause or
even related, but this sticks out to me:

Aug 2 19:18:34 COMPNAME com.nokia.singlesignonui[1506]:
QIODevice::read (QFile, "/home/USERNAME/.cache/signon-
ui/cookies/66.jar"): device not open

That file doesn't exist, and I setup an inotifywait on the
.cache/signon-ui/cookies folder while trying to create the Google account and
there were no changes to the folder at all during that time.

2017-08-02 Thread Steven Gilreath
Public bug reported:

System doesn't allow dkms, or virtual machines built upon dfsg. I'm not
interested in mesa or systems built on X.
Linux seems to be about hatred and negativity more than it is about letting go
of bad things from the past, but seems to revel in the negative and futile,
more than anything positive and hopeful.

There is a time, I suppose, that rubbing someones face in the past
nightmare's, has value in a limited way, but at some point, keeping a
good man down, lacks understanding, as is a maniacle, futile act, that
helps no one involved, despite there personal prejudice. The reality, is
just a tragic waste of human worth, and value, accomplishing nothing
good. In linux, new is effectivlly put away from observvatin, obviously
ignored and hidden.

[Bug 1133477] Re: cut-n-paste move files got stuck forever

2017-08-02 Thread levien
This is most probably caused by this upstream issue:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=757747

These patches to gvfs should greatly reduce the problem:
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gvfs/commit/?id=0e001c9
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gvfs/commit/?id=fe33512
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gvfs/commit/?id=1224147
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gvfs/commit/?id=57acc80

As I understand, gvfs >1.30.3 should include these patches,
so Ubuntu Zesty 17.04 should suffer much less from this issue.
Can someone verify this?

There are several similar bug reports that may be duplicates:

[Bug 1708307] [NEW] Broken printer icon in Printers applet

2017-08-02 Thread Alan Pope  濾
Public bug reported:

Clean install up to date of Artful. It found my HP networked printer.
However looking in the panel I see a broken icon next to the name of the
printer. I'm not sure what should be there, but expect a broken icon
isn't it :)

See screenshot.

[Bug 1707832] Re: package shim-signed 1.32~16.04.1+0.9+1474479173.6c180c6-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2017-08-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Thanks, the trace shows:

open("/boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/mach_kernel", O_RDWR) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
write(2, "grub-install: error:", 20)= 20
write(2, " ", 1)= 1
write(2, "Can't create file: No such file or directory", 44) = 44

I notice that your /boot/efi directory has a /boot/efi/EFI/Ubuntu
16.04.2 LTS/mach_kernel, but not a /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/mach_kernel
which is the directory that Ubuntu's GRUB expects to use.

If you copy /boot/efi/EFI/Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS/mach_kernel to
/boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/mach_kernel, does the package install then succeed?

Full disclosure, I have no idea at all if this might make your system
unbootable. A successful grub-install may overwrite the Apple-specific
EFI boot variables with something other than what the system expects.

[Bug 1708306] [NEW] Middle click paste not working in terminal launched from context menu

2017-08-02 Thread Alan Pope  濾
Public bug reported:

On a clean up to date Artful system I noticed some odd behavior in the
terminal.

Steps to reproduce:-

1. Open a terminal by right clicking the desktop and Open Terminal.
2. Double click the command prompt
3. Middle click to paste

Expected behavior

Contents of terminal appears pasted

Actual behavior

Nothing

Oddly, terminals launched from the activities menu or by pressing
CTRL+ALT+T don't exhibit this behavior. In addition, sometimes it works
if you copy from a terminal launched in the two mentioned ways, and try
to paste into the one launched from the desktop.

https://youtu.be/aKfb9DCfPUI

Video showing me launching a terminal from the activities menu where
middle click paste works. Launching a terminal from the desktop context
menu and middle click paste not working. Then launching gedit where also
I can't paste what I have highlighted in the terminal, but can copy from
gedit to terminal via middle click paste.

[Bug 1708305] [NEW] Realtime feature mlockall: Cannot allocate memory

mlockall: Cannot allocate memory

2017-08-02T20:25:37.732772Z qemu-system-x86_64: locking memory failed
2017-08-02 20:25:37.811+: shutting down

This seems to be due to the setrlimit for RLIMIT_MEMLOCK is too low for
mlockall
to work given the large amount of memory.

There is a libvirt upstream patch that enforces the existence of the
hard_limit stanza when using with in the memory backing settings.

https://github.com/libvirt/libvirt/commit/c2e60ad0e5124482942164e5fec088157f5e716a

Memory locking can only work properly if the memory locking limit
for the QEMU process has been raised appropriately: the default one
is extremely low, so there's no way the guest will fit in there.
