Re: [Bug 1708922] Re: uvcvideo module does not work with Dell XPS 12 webcam

2017-08-12 Thread emk2203
I researched the issue some time ago. My webcam and several others like HP
are affected by a faulty driver for this webcam, which should be the kernel
uvcvideo module. This is the reason why it happens in several progs, like
guvcview and cheese.

vlc does it's own thing and does not rely on the kernel driver. This is the
reason why it's unaffected.

While I'd like to see them removed from unstable too (or ported away

  Other Info
  ==
I think the most difficult one on this list for some people is gnucash.
Fedora 27 (due ~November) is actually bundling webkit1 inside the gnucash
packaging. There will be a beta version of gnucash ported to gtk3 available
later this year. Hard to say whether it's better to offer a beta or just remove
it entirely.

The other hard one is empathy. It has been ported to webkit2 in git, but
nobody at GNOME cares enough or has enough confidence in it to release a
new version from git master. Fedora might handle this one.

monodevelop may be useful to some people but I don't think Mono ever got
around to releasing a stable gtk3 version of Mono.

Arch Linux has already completely removed webkit1.

2017-08-12 Thread Anders Kaseorg
This sync is being held back due to an autopkgtest “regression” on armhf
and s390x. The log makes it clear that’s because the test is being run
in a chroot, which makes no sense for a test that involves building and
loading a kernel module with dkms.

[Bug 1710424] [NEW] Apply some patches to codeblocks to make it less crash

2017-08-12 Thread Teodor Petrov
Public bug reported:

Hello, I'm one of the developers of codeblocks.

I've pushed some fixes to the release-16.xx patch that affect distributions
building codeblocks against wx3.x.
The revisions in question are 11140 to 11144
You can find the commit log here
https://sourceforge.net/p/codeblocks/code/11144/log/

These fix two common problems, which are pretty bad:
https://sourceforge.net/p/codeblocks/tickets/225/ (more of a workaround for now)
https://sourceforge.net/p/codeblocks/tickets/524/

I'll be happy if you can apply them to the 16.01 packages.

Best regards,
Teodor

[Bug 1690671] Re: Pointer clicks and hovering fail to have effect at the very left and top borders of screen

2017-08-12 Thread Douglas H. Silva
** Description changed:

  THE ISSUE:
The pointer (happens with mouse, but it's worse with touchpad) fails to click
or highlight any object at the very last pixel of the left and top borders of
the screen. If there is a menu at the top, for instance, the highlighting that
should appear on top of it starts to flicker on and off. If the icon
highlights, I can click. If it doesn't, clicking such menu icon doesn't have
any effect. It happens at the last pixel of the screen. Moving the pointer just
one pixel away from the border restores the desired effect.

This affects any desktop environment made with gtk+3, such as MATE,
- Pantheon, parts of Xfce, Budgie and probably others. GNOME is not
- affected. Any DE still using gtk2 works fine. I tested 3 different
+ Pantheon, parts of Xfce, Budgie and probably others. GNOME and Unity are
+ not affected. Any DE still using gtk2 works fine. I tested 3 different
computers with Intel Graphics and they were all displaying the same
  glitch.

It can always be reproduced. I can record a video of the issue if
  needed.

[Bug 1710309] Re: Backup does not recognize gpg 2 option and fails

2017-08-12 Thread Vej
Hello Mats,

thanks for your output.

I was able to reproduce your bug and will add reproduction steps based
on these lines of your log:

DUPLICITY: . gpg: unknown trust model `tofu+pgp'
DUPLICITY: . gpg: /home/lynx/.gnupg/gpg.conf:89: invalid option

This indicates, that this might be a problem with the backend duplicity,
so I will set this project as affected and forward to both upstreams.

Best

Vej

** Description changed:

Attempting to create a full backup to a SMB NAS, succeeds if backup is
set to unencrypted. Fails if password is specified.

Symptom: deja-dup loops endlessly through "scanning" -> "encryption
password needed" -> "require password?" and round and round.

Possibly related to recent gnupg options changes? Creating a GPG key
pair for enigmail to use was the last major change i made to my set-up
since the last time these back-ups succeeded. If that's the cause, i'll
be darned if i can work out what to revert where.

  Release:Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
  deja-dup34.2-0ubuntu1.1
  duplicity 0.7.06-2ubuntu2
+
+ Reproduction Steps:
+
+ * Add the line "trust-model tofu+pgp" to the end of your gpg.conf (probably
~/.gnupg/gpg.conf)
+ * Try an encrypted backup of any data to any destination.

I had same problem few months ago with Linux Mint 18.1 KDE and VLC daily

back on Mint 18.2 (IIRC not immediately after update to 18.2). Again
related to VLC:

Następujące działania rozwiążą problemy z zależnościami:

 Usunięcie następujących pakietów:

It is always (same as previous time) proposing uninstall VLC and mesa. I'm
pressing "n" so it propose to keep old version and this is how I keep my distro
updated, always keeping old version.

[Bug 1710421] [NEW] Keyboard accelerators for window menus aren't implemented

2017-08-12 Thread Alan Pope  濾
Public bug reported:

Other desktop systems including Microsoft Windows and Unity have
accelerator keys in the window menu. This is typically accessible via
ALT_Space on any window, then pressing a key to initiate the desired
function.

Typically Alt_Space can be used to bring up the menu, then use x to
maximise a window, n to minimise a window, etc. GNOME Shell does not
implement these accelerator keys, which seems inconsistent with other
desktops, and internally inconsistent, as other menus in GNOME
applications _do_ have accelerator keys.

It would be great for people coming to GNOME Shell should be able to use
the familiar keyboard shortcuts they're used to.

As far as I can test (as far back as 16.04) this has always been the
case.

[Bug 1522675] Re: Warning messages about unsandboxed downloads

2017-08-12 Thread Ads20000
Martin, if you want to get this bug fixed please click on the link
Julian gave in #89 and rewrite the bug so it can be fixed in Ubuntu
16.04 and 17.04. It won't be fixed until that happens (and, ideally,
would be good if you could check it's working in 17.10, where it's
already been patched, as well). We know it's a problem but someone needs
to do the work to get it fixed (I don't feel able to sorry).

[Bug 1574120] Re: Notebook doesn't suspend when lid is closed after update to 16.04

2017-08-12 Thread Bill Duetschler
Looks like I misspoke, adding "HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend" didn't
work. I took the laptop offsite after closing the lid and when I
arrived at my destination the laptop was still warm and there had been
significant battery drain, as if it had been running full-blast all
along.

ultimately unrecoverable even when booting to a Live USB stick to
continue the upgrade.

[Bug 1710397] [NEW] Unable to identify package based on windows for some applications

2017-08-12 Thread Donald Pellegrino
Public bug reported:

When running ubuntu-bug -w the following message is output to terminal:

Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is
discouraged.

Clicking on windows from GNOME Terminal or Backups has not effect.
Clicking on a Firefox window however, will trigger the expected
behavior. It seems ubuntu-bug -w is only recognizing some windows.

[Bug 1710051] Re: xorg crash/freeze when Chrome uses WebGL, caused by: GPU HANG: ... chrome ... reason: Hang on render ring, action: reset

2017-08-12 Thread Andrew Montalenti
Also, a couple of days later, I experienced another full system hang. I
was using GPU-accelerated Chrome at the time, but it was when a new page
was loading. So, the newer PPA may not have totally corrected this
issue, perhaps it just moved it around somehow.

[Bug 1710392] [NEW] Additional initializer needed to recognize trackpad on Lenovo Yoga 720 laptop

2017-08-12 Thread Mike Schwartz
Public bug reported:

There's just a 1 line patch required, to add an initializer to array of
structs scanned to match up the device ID with driver.

The PR is here:

https://github.com/torvalds/linux/pull/444#discussion_r131229815

I've applied the patch and created and booted from a custom kernel and
it works great.

The laptop is wonderful running Ubuntu: I7 7700HQ, 16G RAM, 500G SSD,
4K touch screen, decent I/O ports.
