[Bug 1717038] Re: name resolution fails in-target

2017-09-14 Thread Steve Langasek
Ah. I was using 'chroot /target ping www.google.com', not 'in-target'
since 'in-target' takes a lock and doesn't allow you to run it while
other commands are installing.

If I wait until the target setup has finished and then run 'in-target
ping www.google.com', I also see this name resolution failure.

It turns out that 'in-target' mounts a tmpfs on /run each time that it's
called, and unmounts it when it's done. But the stub resolv.conf target
is in the /run directory on the target filesystem, *not* on the tmpfs.

To fix this, we need:
 - /run to be mounted before packages start writing to it
 - /run to persist for the duration of the install process, so that files like
/run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf don't disappear after they've been set up.

It fails to start in unprivileged containers.

Wait for system to settle down and get to either running or degraded state,
then collect all metrics, and exit with an error if any of the tests failed.

[Bug 1550444] Re: Parole media player segfaults when seeking forward in a video file

2017-09-14 Thread Fixitman Arizona
Seems fixed in later version 0.9.1
I installed on Xubuntu 16.04.3 32-bit via .deb download and software center
(because I forgot I had
gdebi package manager)
You can install from links on following page OR ppa
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntuhandbook1/apps/ubuntu/pool/main/p/parole/?C=M;O=A

for Xubuntu or Ubuntu 16.10 or 17.04 version 0.9.2 is also available
Parole 0.9.2 requires GTK >= 3.20 Ubuntu 16.04 won’t be able to update to this
release with the default GTK+3 libraries.

See: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/?s=parole

In saying that, it is occurring in 3.22, which uses the new auth code.
There are significantly less reports though.

My guess is this might be being caused by our Ubuntu One dialog that is
run from inside our plugin. That would fit Richard's guess that we are
using cairo from the non-main thread (i.e. using the plugin thread).

The solution to that would be to backport the auth code into 3.20.

Crash reports are uploaded at some time after they happened. So a crash
file might sit on disk until a later date when you log in to MATE, and
then the upload of older crash reports might happen.

Really? I found it okay. Way better than McRitchie's Treetop Walk
route.

I walked from Vivo to Kent Ridge MRT, and the stairs ain't too bad
compared to McRitchie (walked from Upper Thomson, going to
TreeTopWalk, looping back toward Venus Drive). The only tiring part
was really the climb up Mt Faber, the stairs were kinda steep.

[Bug 1712925] Re: FFE: HAproxy dropping connections (RST) during config reload / support seamless reload

2017-09-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package haproxy - 1.7.9-1ubuntu1

---
haproxy (1.7.9-1ubuntu1) artful; urgency=medium

  * Backport of -x option from upstream haproxy to enable seamless
reloading of haproxy without dropping connections. This is enabled
by adding
" stats socket expose-fd listeners
  stats bind-process 1 "
to the global section of your haproxy config, and
setting HAPROXY_STATS_SOCKET in the haproxy.service unit file.
(LP: #1712925)

  * New upstream release
  * debian/control.in:
- Depend on language-selector-gnome >= 0.179
  * Backport 2 patches to fix double app menu when desktop doesn't handle
app menu (LP: #1717197)
- git_split-window-decorations.patch
- git_disable-menubar.patch
  * Add ubuntu-language-support.patch:

[Bug 1717404] Re: IPv6 support regresses with nplan transition

2017-09-14 Thread Stéphane Graber
The nplan.yaml which is included in our containers is:

root@artful:~# cat /etc/netplan/10-lxc.yaml
network:
  ethernets:
eth0: {dhcp4: true}
  version: 2

/etc/network/interfaces used to be:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Right now this seems to only affect the LXC images, not the one generated by
CPC as that one is still using ifupdown with a /etc/network/interfaces similar
to that above and without a netplan .yaml.

[Bug 1717404] [NEW] IPv6 support regresses with nplan transition

2017-09-14 Thread Stéphane Graber
Public bug reported:

Prior to the switch to nplan, systems (in my case containers) would DHCP
for IPv4 and let the kernel do IPv6 auto-configuration whenever a router
advertisement comes in.

That's the exact same behavior we see on every single other Linux
distribution, but ever since the switch to nplan by default in Ubuntu,
we're not getting an IPv6 address anymore when a RA reaches the
container.

This was spotted by a new Jenkins test we're running which ensures that
every single image we have for LXD will start and get a working IPv4
(through DHCP) and IPv6 address (through RA).

[Bug 1716503] Re: gnome-shell --wayland works only when --mode=initial-setup

2017-09-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can't seem to find "focusli" in the Ubuntu archive so assume you
installed it manually.

Glad to hear your figured it out, but that would make the bug invalid
for Ubuntu tasks at least.

[Bug 1717170] Re: Gnome-shell session crash after monitor switch-off/input change.

2017-09-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Have a look in your /var/crash/

If there are none there already then I'm not sure why, other than
dumping of core somehow failed, or less likely it's not "crashing" via
any of the normal fatal signals.

[Bug 1716068] Re: Gnome Shell crashes randomly

2017-09-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It looks like we won't be able to figure out the root cause of your
crash until the robots can analyse and retrace it. Please let us know
the new bug ID created in comment #3 if you know it.

P.S. What kind of terminal are you running "gnome-shell --replace" from?
That sounds like it should be impossible, or you are using a Xorg
session in which case you will have some basic windows to type in after
the shell/window manager crashed.
