[Bug 1721237] [NEW] Transparent gap under title bar when maximized

2017-10-04 Thread Bogdan Harjoc
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded to 17.10 beta 2. When maximizing any window, a 2-pixel
transparent gap appears between title bar and window content below.
Unmaximizing the window gets rid of the transparent bar.

I am using gnome-session-compiz. This bug appeared after the upgrade. I
didn't see it in 16.04.

I'd check with the flavours it's seeded on:

libsdl2-2.0-0 (from libsdl2) is seeded in:
kubuntu: supported
lubuntu-next: daily-live
lubuntu: daily, daily-live
ubuntu-budgie: daily-live
ubuntu-gnome: supported
ubuntu-mate: supported
ubuntukylin: daily-live
ubuntustudio: dvd
xubuntu: supported
libsdl2-dev (from libsdl2) is seeded in:
kubuntu: supported
lubuntu: supported
ubuntu-budgie: supported
ubuntukylin: supported
libsdl2-doc (from libsdl2) is seeded in:
kubuntu: supported
lubuntu: supported
ubuntu-budgie: supported
ubuntukylin: supported

Otherwise sure.

This looks like a reasonable approach I think. It sucks a bit that then
you can't see it even if you want to, so I think the right approach long
term is to convince the maintainer to split the packaging.

I golfed your diff a little bit, and made the ubuntu-xorg desktop files
a symlink to the ubuntu ones to save a bit of space. See the packaging
VCS (lp:~ubuntu-desktop/+junk/ubuntu-settings) and feel free to upload
if it still works for you.

Re: [Bug 1720908] Re: Firefox cannot load Flash because of libxul broken dependency

2017-10-04 Thread ard
Hi muzi
on my 32 bit still no success

on my 64 bit notebook, Flash kept working normal while FF upgraded to
version 56

on the Ubuntu17.10 beta artful with FF55, I had also problems getting Flash
installed.
But I found a nice site that lists all available Ubuntu packages, called
https://packages.ubuntu.com
selected the artful packages and found flash installer.
downloaded that package via the local ubuntu distribution site, that
offered me a deb package which installed without a problem and made Flash
working corrrectly.

I'm assuming you don't plan to add any dependencies on this in this

[Bug 1718446] Re: Ensure wayland -> xorg fallback to the corresponding session

2017-10-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I can reliably reproduce in an up-to-date artful VM. In my default
session, GDMSESSION=ubuntu. If I then uncomment WaylandEnable=false in
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf and reboot, the session selected by default is
gnome-xorg instead of being ubuntu-xorg.

[Bug 1721223] [NEW] Networkd fail to set ip address between leases if ip address changes on UbuntuCore

2017-10-04 Thread Nicolino Curalli
Public bug reported:

Hi there,
we found a replicable issue that involves the Ubuntu Core networking and causes
complete loss of connectivity.
We run a custom board with ubuntu core: the architecure is amrhf.
We replicated this issue with an official Ubuntu Core image on a Raspberry Pi:
other platform was been tested.
It shows that it is a snap core problem which interests networkd: we use the
default network stack based on networkd + netplan.

Below steps to replicate the issue.

1)Setup a dhcp server for lease of about some minutes (i.e 10 minutes).
2)Boot the board and wait for get an ip from dhcp server
3)Before the lease expires, set a reservation for a different ip address

Depending on lease duration before the lease expires( for 10 minute we have 2
minutes before ), networkd configure the new address in addition to the
previous one.
When the lease expire both ip address ( the prevoius and the new one )
disappear from the interested network interface.
Depending on lease duration before the second lease expires ( for 10 minure we
have 2 minutes before ) networkd configure only the new ip address on the
network interface and the ping toward an outside host work properly.

During the test the dhcp server records correctly leases and their
duration.

We check directly from console the network interface setting with the
tool ip, checking continuously the value for ip address and valid_lft
fields for the interested network interface.

Please note that if the ip address setting are the same between leases
the problem doesn’t jump out.

Please note that if the ip address setting are different between lease
the problem jumps out and it is very bad:

Typically the lease time on consumer router are about some day, then a
board that change ip between lease loses the network connectivity for
some day without a direct action.

Please, after a confirmation from your side of the issue, could you fix
the problem or escalate the issue at the upstream project?

We are available for further testing.

Below syslog annotated with ip address state:

In 36.2 one has to enter the protocol and server but the path in a different
location (see screenshots).

I have tried a simple Python script to connect to my server and it works
fine (so I don't think it is an issue with Gnome but rather an issue in
the new selection box).

Today the gnome gvfs package came in updated. The issue still persists.

If you want I can have a look at the source code and see if I can be of
assistance.

Currently after every upgrade I revert to 34.4 as the last working
solution.

[Bug 1721211] [NEW] wrong location for matplotlib example data

2017-10-04 Thread zebul666
Public bug reported:

I tried running a demo for matplotlib
(https://matplotlib.org/mpl_examples/api/date_demo.py) and I got an
error:

IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'/usr/share/matplotlib
/mpl-data/sample_data/goog.npy'

I did not investigate thoroughly but for me, the files are in the wrong
location.

/usr/share/matplotlib/sample_data should be located in
/usr/share/matplotlib/mpl_data/sample_data.

At least this is where matplotlib.cbook.get_sample_data() function will
for its files not in /usr/share/matplotlib/sample_data

I don't know why it's the wrong location on ubuntu ???

For a quick fix, I made a symbolic link for sample_date in mpl_data
directory.

[Bug 1701222] Re: [Hyper-V] LIS daemons fail to start after disable/re-enable VM integration services

2017-10-04 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
The unit entered a failed state, and thus would not automatically started until
failed state clears.
Why does bouncing of the services result in the daemon exiting with an error
condition? Should that particular exit code result in a graceful shutdown of
the service, such that the unit can be restarted again?
What userspace events should be causing the start of this unit? a udev event /
udev rule? a .path unit monitoring sysfs or some such?

Is it possible to reproduce this on e.g. azure for me to investigate?

I'm going to remove per-series tasks from systemd, until this issue is
trianged. per-series tasks on the src:systemd package are used to track
fixes/patches which have been developed and are ready for inclusion in
the distribution.

Thanks Gunnar, good find.

I wonder what this is telling us - you end up with multiple copies of
iBus running or something? Or the order matters and somehow the
basic.target one starts up early enough and the other one doesn't?

>From looking at that 21_ibus.rc script, it doesn't look like it's
crucial that im-config is the thing to actually execute iBus, right? If
that's the case, this is probably good. If it tests out, feel free to
upload.

[Bug 1721204] [NEW] timesyncd has redundant condition conflict with ntp and others

2017-10-04 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

Cherrypick

Drop systemd-timesyncd.service.d/disable-with-time-daemon.conf

All major NTP implementations ship a native service file nowadays with a
Conflicts=systemd-timesyncd.service so this drop-in is no longer
necessary.

Closes: #873185

This should resolve the current issue in Ubuntu, where when both ntpd
and timesyncd are installed, both are enabled yet neither run.

[Bug 1721203] [NEW] systemd armhf autopkgtest test-copy fails in artful

2017-10-04 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

systemd armhf autopkgtest test-copy fails in artful

test-copy uses itself as the source to test copies. The test suite tries
to test cases where maximum requested copy is below and above the
internal buffer size. However, that fails when the maximum requested
copy bytes is more than the source binary... as started to be the case
with uber optimised artful toolchain on armhf, and after debug symbols
stripped. Specifically test-copy started to be less than 32000 bytes.

Awaiting improvement to the test suite upstream, simply keep test-copy
unstripped such that systemd-tests can be used in adt tests without
failures.

[Bug 1720953] Re: libwxgtk-webview3.0-dev unmet dependencies in artful

2017-10-04 Thread slodki
I'm talking about stable Debian and stable Ubuntu - I expect Debian
stable with this change be published in 2019 and there is time to
rebuild this library or switch to another one by applications authors.

This bug report is about change in Ubuntu artful, expected to be
released as stable in next 2 weeks. I don't understand why this change
is implemented few days before release without chance to rewrite
applications using this library.

Ubuntu should follow this Debian change with similar schedule with
ability to deliver compatible library version or to update depended
applications.

MMEX application have artful packages already prepared and published but
they are broken with unmet dependencies now.

2017-10-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Confirmed on a ThinkPad too. The bug didn't occur on my desktop though.

WORKAROUND:
1. Put the PS4 controller upside down (buttons down).
2. Open the panel menu and click the second circle button (rotation lock).
