After logging to unity, Open terminal and run

unity-settings-daemon --debug -r

Check if you can still reproduce and report back terminal output to

[Bug 1739372] [NEW] Merge xdg-utils 1.1.2-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2017-12-19 Thread Amr Ibrahim
Public bug reported:

Please merge xdg-utils 1.1.2-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

I cannot work on this merge myself. This is only a reference.

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta:
  * debian/patches/prefer-gio.patch: switch to preferring gio commands over
gvfs ones. (LP: #1721948)
  * debian/xdg-utils.links:
- Symlink /usr/bin/xdg-open to /usr/bin/browse (LP: #1624022)
  * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- debian/patches/xdg-email-mutt-detect.diff
- debian/patches/xdg-screensaver-restore-timeout.diff
- debian/patches/lp779156-lubuntu.diff
Removed patches because upstream implements:
- xdg-email-envvar.diff
- xdg-open-browser-multiword.diff
- xdg-open-printf.diff
- xdg-screensaver-new-gnome.diff
- no-X.diff
- fix-bashism-use-of-echo.patch
- gnome-3.0.diff
- filenames-with-spaces.patch
  * debian/patches/mimeappslist-file-location: "xdg-mime default"
only set old deprecated mimeapps location. "xdg-mime query default"
retrieved, but nothing could set. (LP: #1518053)
---

Changelog entries since current bionic version 1.1.1-1ubuntu3:

xdg-utils (1.1.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Nicholas Guriev ]
  * New maintainer, Debian freedesktop.org group. Closes: #876401.
  * New upstream release. Closes: #865210.
  * Bump Standards Version, no modifications for this.
  * Remove gvfs-bin package from dependencies. Closes: #877747.

  [ Per Olofsson ]
  * Update Description.
- Correctly indent the list of commands.
- Remove mention of the Portland project. (xdg-utils is the only
  surviving product from Portland.)
- gvfs-bin is also needed in MATE and Cinnamon.
  * Add bug-script that reports the value of $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP.
  * Add bug-presubj asking for 'sh -x' output.

  [ Emilio Pozuelo Monfort ]
  * Remove Fathi from Uploaders. Thanks for your previous work!

[Bug 1735678] Re: Suggestion to produce a sound when increasing or lowering the volume

2017-12-19 Thread Robert Orzanna
Thanks, Kev,

Let me attempt to clear my case.

Coming from Ubuntu with Unity/GNOME, I got used to audio feedback.

The volume without headphones and headphones is not the same. Once I
plug in my headphones, I noticed that it uses a different volume setting

The other day, I was on a Hangouts call. I didn't hear the other person.
I wasn't sure if the problem was on his side or if I had broken
headphones.

Having audio feedback when changing the volume while on headphones is an
easy and simple way to confirm that your audio settings are fine and
that your headphones are working.

I have sent a patch upstream. It depends on another upstream change, so
integration could take a little longer, still, feature should be available in

2017-12-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package lxd - 2.21-0ubuntu1

---
lxd (2.21-0ubuntu1) bionic; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release (2.21)
- The lxc start/stop/restart/pause commands now accept a new --all flag.
  (LP: #1735718)

  configuration keys.
- A new boot.stop.priority configuration key can be used to control
container shutdown order when LXD is brought down.
- LXD users that use MAAS to manage their networks can now have LXD
directly drive MAAS, recording all containers in MAAS and setting up
static allocations in MAAS managed subnets.
This is controlled with the maas.api.url and maas.api.key
daemon keys as well as the maas.subnet.ipv4 and maas.subnet.ipv6
  network interface configuration keys.

[Bug 1738153] Re: need backport the new scancode of dell-wmi for Microphone mute hotkey to xenial

2017-12-19 Thread Alex Tu
This issue happens to all xenial, zesty dell platform users who updated
kernel to the one after 4.8.0. Because the root cause is the change of
dell-wmi kernel module [1]

And this is a cert blocking issue for OEM projects.
How long will this kind SRU be in your experience ?

[Bug 1691032] Re: Some PCs still turn off the backlight by zero brightness even when the maximum brightness level is less than 100

2017-12-19 Thread Yuan-Chen Cheng
** Description changed:

+ Need to have fix in Bionic, better to have it in xenial.
+
The minimum brightness of the laptop screen panel may not be realistic
sometimes especially when having a problematic screen panel.

For example, Dell Precision 5720 AIO only has 9 levels in
  /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/max_brightness because the wrong
settings in VBIOS. It is an all-in-one desktop PC and there is no
brightness hotkey to control the backlight. When we set 0 to
  /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness, it turns off the
panel's backlight and there is no way to brightness up the backlight
again so we can only avoid using 0 as the minimum backlight level.

[Bug 1739335] [NEW] Decimal to fractions conversion not always correct.

2017-12-19 Thread rjs1943
Public bug reported:

Example: In Libre office calc: If I put in a decimal number like .5 in
A1 and format B1 a fraction (# ??/??) and then put formula =A1 it shows
1/2. But if I put in .75 in A1, B1 then shows a 1 and should be 3/4. It
does this error on some decimals, not all. Is there a fix for this
soon. I don't have this problem in Excel or WPS Spreadsheet
applications.

[Bug 1739022] Re: Wayland session does not start any more when bash is the default shell

2017-12-19 Thread Owais Lone
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected bionic third-party-packages wayland-
session

** Description changed:

It appears the wayland session does not start on my XPS 13 on Ubuntu
17.10 and 18.04 if I use bash as my default shell. It only works if I
switch my default shell to fish.

  How I discovered the issue:

I've used fish for a few years now. Recently I realized that snap apps
don't show up in Gnome shell dash. Turns out `/var/lib/snapd/desktop/`
was not part of `$XDG_DATA_DIRS`. Turns out it is set by one of the
scripts in `/etc/profile.d/` and since I've set fish as my default
shell, this never runs. I solved this by adding this manually in my fish
  configuration. That solved the issue.

However, I was worried that /etc/profile.d might contain more important
scripts and new apps might add more scrpts there that I don't want to
miss out on, so I switched back to bash to try it out. To my surprise
the wayland session stopped working. GDM logged me in to a black screen
with white cursor in the center. The cursor does not move and nothing
  happens.

I thought this might be because one of the scripts in /etc/profile.d/ so
I removed them all. Also removed /etc/bash.bashrc. However this did not
fix the issue at all. I removed the bashrc related files in my home
  directory as well.

So for me, wayland session does not start when bash is my default shell.
  Only works with fish.

It might be related to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
  /gnome-shell/+bug/1739019

- However, I cannot prove that X11 fails because of the same reason
- because it never runs irrespective of whether I use bash or fish as my
- default shell.

[Bug 1739309] Re: package bluez 5.37-0ubuntu5.1 failed to install/upgrade: package bluez is already installed and configured

2017-12-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That's a strange one. It sounds like the error is that bluez failed to
installed because it's already installed. So not an error at all.

Do you experience any other problems at all?
