[Bug 1749086] Re: 5 minute delay on booting to login screen
Ok, the problem no longer occurs. It seems, BIOS update did the trick after all. Strange thing is: even after the update the problem still manifested itself a few times but now it all seems good. Thank you, Christopher M. [Bug 1746807] Re: 18.04 daily installer fails missing kernel
TLDR: try rebuilding the iso downgrading the four packages /pool/main/a/apt/*.deb to 1.6~alpha 5? Note: I pasted the info backwards...it's 1.6~alpha 5 that's the good version. As a test...I tried manually downgrading apt*.deb on-the fly: I created a virtual machine with a second (empty) cdrom drive. Once I got the missing kernel: I switch to alternate terminal.. chroot /target "apt-cdrom add" gives same error... Mounted the GOOD 20180131 iso into the vm as the second cdrom. mkdir /blah mount /dev/sr1 /blah cd /blah/pool/main/a/apt dpkg -i *.deb cd / umount /blah i.e. force load previous apt and apt-cdrom packages. apt-cdrom This no longer gives the error. Just as a test... cd /media/cdrom/pool/main/a/apt <-- original bad cdrom dpkg -i *.deb i.e. force load bad apt/apt-cdrom packages from latest 20180216 apt-cdrom This gives the stat no such file or directory error. So...downgrading the four packages /pool/main/a/apt/*.deb should work around the issue? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1746807 Title: 18.04 daily installer fails missing kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1746807/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1707898] Re: systemd translations are not synced with upstream
Since moving polkit.{its, loc} would affect other packages, I made another effort to fix it within systemd, and I think I made it this time. Please see the attached patch (for Debian). It's new variant of xgettext() call, but this time it makes use of polkit.its from the systemd source. It's a bit ugly; the "|| true" is there to compensate for a segmentation fault, but that happens only after xgettext() has done its job, so systemd.pot actually gets updated. It's worth mentioning that the upstream source currently includes po/its/polkit.{its,loc}, but OTOH - as a result of the upstream issue I submitted - they are about to drop those files. So that's the reason why the patch adds polkit.its. ** Patch added: "0001-Extract-translatable-strings-from-policy-files.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1707898/+attachment/5057015/+files/0001-Extract-translatable-strings-from-policy-files.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1707898 Title: systemd translations are not synced with upstream To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/1707898/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1749722] Re: NTP: take into account systemd-timesyncd where present
Some further looking at the systemd side, Bionic no longer carries the override conf (disable-with-time-daemon.conf) in favor of updating each client's systemd unit to use: Conflicts=systemd-timesyncd.service Conflicts will ensure that the target service is stopped if the current unit is started. So, if ntp or chrony unit were to start, it would stop timesyncd. This is roughly equivalent, however, it does leave timesyncd unit enabled. This means that if something starts systemd-timesyncd.service, it would stop the ntp or chrony service. There may be additional work on each of the time packages to *disable* timesyncd unit when installed such that it won't start. This may not be possible to prevent users from starting timesyncd manually. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749722 Title: NTP: take into account systemd-timesyncd where present To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/1749722/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1740771] Re: the screen keeps locking while I watch video with mpv
As I mentioned elsewhere it's not solely a matter of mpv-0.28+, support for the protocol needs to be in mutter also. [Bug 1725861] Re: APT::AutoRemove::SuggestsImportant "false" should be the default
Unsupported and no longer available packages can be dealt with better by extending u-r-u, for example. They are not a valid argument for autoremoving packages still suggested by other packages. As I mentioned before, it seems reasonable to me that u-r-u would autoremove more than apt by setting SuggestsImportant to false. That solves (well, it improves, it's not an optimal solution) the problem of accumulated cruft during dist upgrades while at the same time not affecting operation on a running system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725861 Title: APT::AutoRemove::SuggestsImportant "false" should be the default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1725861/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
