[Bug 1711337] Re: Firefox crashes at start on armv7L after 55.0.1 update

2018-03-18 Thread Chituc Georgian
But there is a big hope the build for trusty with "-march=armv7-a
-mfloat-abi=hard -mfpu=vfpv3-d16" will not crash .Builing on xenial
did nto worked but a build in trusty have great chances to work .

[Bug 1711337] Re: Firefox crashes at start on armv7L after 55.0.1 update

2018-03-18 Thread Chituc Georgian
Ok , I did not tried firefox 59 but my firefox 58.02armhf build with
this options "-march=armv7-a -mfloat-abi=hard -mfpu=vfpv3-d16"  was
compiled fine by gcc under Ubuntu 16.04 and there was still a crash .

You can read the crah cause I post earlier . Is not the skia crash , is another
one that happens before it reach skia .
So just compiling with "-march=armv7-a -mfloat-abi=hard -mfpu=vfpv3-d16" may
not be sufficient, at lest for me was not .

[Bug 1752733] Re: xiterm+thai is installed and set to x-terminal-emulator

2018-03-18 Thread Simon Quigley
So the reason this was pulled in is because the Debian maintainer
adjusted the update-alternatives priority from 40 to 20 for the change
to 11.8.3, which now states "They should also register themselves as an
alternative for /usr/bin/x-terminal-emulator, with a priority of 20."
The Debian Policy manual defines the usage of "should" as the following:
"Non-conformance with guidelines denoted by should (or recommended) will
generally be considered a bug, but will not necessarily render a package
unsuitable for distribution."

Other options can be explored, but the best option at this time in my
opinion is to go against the recommended value and revert back to 40.
This will make lxterminal the default again.

As to why xiterm+thai is installed is irrelevant. I have no clue.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: [Bug 1574278] Re: AbiWord text cursor starts to flicker after adding some text

2018-03-18 Thread James Cameron
Thanks for the offer. Sorry, I don't have a backport of my patch for
abiword 3.0.1, and haven't estimated the effort. Would you consider
moving Xenial to abiword 3.0.2?

At One Laptop per Child for our derivative build of Ubuntu with the
Sugar desktop, we've worked around the flickering by setting
GTK_THEME to adwaita in the package sugar-write-activity. This
perturbs the timing just enough to prevent the problem on our
supported hardware.

For our upcoming Bionic build, the abiword 3.0.2-6 package doesn't
show the problem.

[Bug 1756785] [NEW] lxcfs startup failues because fuse directory not empty

2018-03-18 Thread Jon Watte
Public bug reported:

During start-up, I get about 8 complaints that LXCFS is starting and
stopping, until it goes red and says it failed.

The lxcfs.service unit journal contains a number of these:

Mar 18 21:12:36 ripper systemd[1]: lxcfs.service: Unit entered failed state.
Mar 18 21:12:36 ripper systemd[1]: lxcfs.service: Failed with result
'exit-code'.
Mar 18 21:12:36 ripper systemd[1]: lxcfs.service: Service hold-off time over,
scheduling restart.
Mar 18 21:12:36 ripper systemd[1]: Stopped FUSE filesystem for LXC.

Mar 18 21:12:37 ripper lxcfs[1539]: fuse: mountpoint is not empty
Mar 18 21:12:37 ripper lxcfs[1539]: fuse: if you are sure this is safe, use the
'nonempty' mount option
Mar 18 21:12:37 ripper systemd[1]: lxcfs.service: Main process exited,
code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Mar 18 21:12:37 ripper fusermount[1580]: /bin/fusermount: failed to unmount
/var/lib/lxcfs: Invalid argument
Mar 18 21:12:37 ripper systemd[1]: lxcfs.service: Unit entered failed state.

Looking at /var/lib/lxcfs, it does, in fact, contain two directories "cgroup"
and "proc"
So, either:
1) This should only start once, but it's started multiple times, or
2) This directory should be empty but the script fails to make it so

ls -l /var/lib/lxcfs shows:

[21:26] jwatte@ripper:~$ ls -la /var/lib/lxcfs/
total 16
drwxr-xr-x  4 root root 4096 Aug 26  2017 ./
drwxr-xr-x 69 root root 4096 Mar 18 21:10 ../
drwxr-xr-x 13 root root 4096 Aug 26  2017 cgroup/
dr-xr-xr-x  2 root root 4096 Aug 26  2017 proc/

So, something somewhere made this directory non-empty, and now it fails
every time on start. (I sure didn't put anything here!) August 26
matches when I first installed this system, at the time running 17.04.

I recommend making the startup script simply nuke the contents of this
directory.

still a bug". It does not mean the issue does not exist, only that it's
not a bug originating from the Ubuntu archive.

We have to use Invalid only because no better status exists in
Launchpad.

[Bug 1756783] [NEW] Problems at display the second monitor

2018-03-18 Thread Marco
Public bug reported:

I had a problem where my monitor connected to the Display Port didn't
work but the monitor at the DVI Port was working fine.

The only way I manage to get the Display Monitor working was to boot
with only this monitor connected and after the Desktop was loaded I
could connect the DVI Port and it would work fine.

[Bug 1728347] Re: Akregator corrupts the opml file and crashes, always.

2018-03-18 Thread Simon Quigley
Uploaded.

** Changed in: akregator (Ubuntu Bionic)
   Importance: Medium => Critical

** Changed in: akregator (Ubuntu Artful)
   Importance: Medium => Critical

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ Without this fix, Akregator can start crashing on initialization and
+ corrupt data. Without a backup, this means data loss, and it also means
+ a non-working Akregator.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ 1. Launch Akregator and create a handful of feeds.
+ 2. Restart Akregator several times.
+
+ Nothing should happen, but it will crash sometimes.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ Little to none. The contents of the if (app.isSessionRestored())
+ conditional is the same with the exception of the window being
+ initialized before Akregator is restored.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
  I noticed that Akregator started to crash on initialization. Then I
  noticed that it had corrupted to a small size my RSS feed file.

[Bug 1746340] Re: Samsung SSD corruption (fsck needed)

2018-03-18 Thread Lucas Zanella
The error just happened again inside the VM, and upon VM reboot it said
that something was trying to access outside the disk hd0 or hd1, don't
remember. Then I noted that the host machine had the error too.

This already happened before and I mentioned in commet #75

Somehow the virtual machine errors and the host machine errors are
related. However, the error happens even without virtual machine usage.

Well... It doesn't sound like it's fixed & certainly not invalid.

If it still doesn't work when using updated versions of packages
available in those PPA's, it's not really fixed.

Is there a way to mark it as duplicate instead?

[Bug 1756779] [NEW] germinate-update-metapackage should run in parallel

At the moment, germinate-update-metapackage takes quite a bit of time to

[Bug 1574278] Re: AbiWord text cursor starts to flicker after adding some text

2018-03-18 Thread Simon Quigley
So after attempting to apply this patch, it seems like the code here is
totally different.

James, do you have a patch that can cleanly apply to the abiword in
Xenial?

For now, I'll reassign this to you. If you aren't willing to do this,
that's perfectly fine, just unassign it. :)

If you get a fix that cleanly applies to Xenial, you can reassign to me.

Thanks!

[Bug 1752772] Re: r8169 ethernet card don't work after returning from suspension

2018-03-18 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Can you do a kernel bisection?

First, find the last good -rc kernel and the first bad -rc kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Then,
$ sudo apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good v4.15-rc4
$ git bisect bad v4.15-rc6
$ make localmodconfig
$ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg
Install the newly built kernel.
If the issue still happens,
$ git bisect bad
Otherwise,
$ git bisect good
Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the commit that causes the
regression.

[Bug 1754425] Re: Lots of pcieport and nvme kernel errors - system non-responsive

2018-03-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes there have been a few kernel updates in the past few days that might
have improved the situation. Still, bug incomplete pending more testing
on kernel 4.15 and if that doesn't suffice, then with 4.16 too.

There's no need to send all those attachments again.

[Bug 1756439] Re: gnome-shell causes high CPU load with dual monitors

2018-03-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt

The good and the bad news is that this crash is still not common enough
to show up in the top 100 gnome-shell crashes on errors.ubuntu.com. Not
even in the top 100 gnome-shell crashes of 16.04.

But it sounds like the duplicates here contain more useful information,
thanks John.

[Bug 1756767] [NEW] It crashed during installation. Could not install GRUB

2018-03-18 Thread Marco Pereira via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:

This is a Windows 10 running in one hard drive and Ubuntu being
installed in another. I thought I wouldn't even need GRUB, I would just
choose which HD to start with.

In any event it crashed, I suppose it is because it wouldn't install
grub on the Windows HD and didn't want to install in the Ubuntu side.

I don't understand the problem properly.

[Bug 1756508] Re: Gnome-shell cpu load dramatically high and stuck high with Eclipse

2018-03-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I thought the issue with Firefox was resolved by a Firefox update (bug
1696305).

Regardless, let's keep one bug per problem. Make this bug about Eclipse
only right now.
