[Bug 1661876] Re: [Asus UX360UA] battery status in unity-panel is not changing when battery is being charged

2018-03-25 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Well, after you enable -proposed, you can get the new kernel package via
"sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade".

Reboot, and choose 4.13.0.38.57 from Grub menu to boot.

[Bug 1758545] Re: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Uncorrected (Non-Fatal), type=Transaction Layer

2018-03-25 Thread Ven
Thanks Kai-Heng, I think the error comes from Wifi card and NVME ssd
drive, both of them installed on PCIE slot. Anyway, do you mean there is
no hope except Lenovo will issue a firmware? That's sad. My laptop is
not supported by official,really sad.

[Bug 1758563] Re: Blocked at gdm login screen on 18.04 if user password has a circumflex accent

2018-03-25 Thread Xavier Guillot via ubuntu-bugs
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1716159 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716159

Hi, I'm not sure this is an exact duplicte of bug 1716159 (I saw it
before reporting here). It's right, today I checked, if I enter û in the
gdm login field, it writes u, but :

- this was also the case since early alpha testing of Ubuntu 17.10, I
already had the same password, only since update of 10th March 2018 it
is refused. And when I chose it, on the live USB installation, was the
French alternative keyboard selected, so I'm sure it was with the accent
(I checked again, typing one with û and one with u gets an error on 2
passwords not matching).

- In this case, modifying the password in recovery session should have
allowed me to login again (which I could in terminal only the very first
time I had this bug, so modification was successful, after ,I have no
access to console), but not...

Something specifically changed between mid-February and 10th March
making login impossible with my "û" containing password and forcing me
to reinstall...

[Bug 1750707] Re: LibreOffice says permission was denied to open a file in a NTFS partition, even with it having permission

2018-03-25 Thread Leonardo Müller
Yes, the bug was resolved to me. I reported it when LibreOffice was at
version 5.4.4-0ubuntu5. When updated to 6.0, the bug no longer happened.

I've asked Simon to close this bug on IRC as LibreOffice was working
correctly for some time and its status had never changed.

[Bug 1758545] Re: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Uncorrected (Non-Fatal), type=Transaction Layer

2018-03-25 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
The error is from your wifi cards. That said, it's more like to be a
compatibility issue between your Ryzen PCH and Intel 8265. Generally this
should get fixed by system firmware (i.e. BIOS).
Please contact Lenovo for their support.

[Bug 1755800] Re: Greeter/lockscreen fails to authenicate in an endless loop

2018-03-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Come to think of it, some code might be returning ENOSPC ("No space left
on device") for a RAM-based operation.

So please also check how much RAM your system has before and after the
problem (run 'free -m'), and check 'ps' to see if any process is
unusually large.

[Bug 1758771] Re: install goes to black screen

2018-03-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1758771/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1755800] Re: Greeter/lockscreen fails to authenicate in an endless loop

2018-03-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
"No space left on device" is coming up way too often in your log. I
can't explain that but it is still possibly relevant since a lot of
things are failing with that message.

Please monitor your disk usage carefully, before and after the problem
occurs again. And when it occurs again, please send us a fresh log file
as well as more 'df -h' output.

[Bug 1758805] [NEW] Program hack in bsdgames-2.17.25 core dumps when you enter 'i' after restoring a saved game

2018-03-25 Thread Richard Henschel
Public bug reported:

The following patch fixes the problem. Cut and paste may have converted tabs
to spaces (sorry).
I sent this to lists.debian.org as well, but not sure if that is the right
place.
I am running Ubuntu 17.10 and package lists as bsdgames-2.17-25, but this fix
was done in source listed as bsdgames-2,17-26build1, so that version is also
broken.

[Bug 1758525] Re: Elantech Touchpad - theres no automatic stop while tipping after changing to xorg

2018-03-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1757299] Re: [Dell OptiPlex 755] Intermittently GUI hangs with high xorg CPU% after launching applications

2018-03-25 Thread gregrwm
just had a lockup watching a youtube video in firefox-esr. i did
something extremely simple, i think it was push the pavucontrol window
behind the firefox-esr window, which did so, but immediately thereafter
the video image froze, the mouse could still move the cursor but the
mouse and keyboard were otherwise unable to get any response, not even
to ctl-alt-Fn, nothing visible would be expected from ctl-alt-
PrintScreen-s, saw no response to ctl-alt-PrintScreen-e either, nor,
surprisingly, to ctl-alt-PrintScreen-k. The sound played on via
pusleaudio and bluetooth into my headphones for 2 more minutes, then it
fell silent. After 10 minutes it all remained thus. i tried to login
via ssh but unfortunately my phone was connected to mobile data but not
wifi so i presumed ubuntu was not responding via ssh either, heck it
likely would have if the phone's wifi radio was enabled. well this
occurrence does serve the purpose of verifying that the problem does
occur in bionic either while playing video or not playing video. the
system did respond to ctl-alt-PrintScreen-b and booted up normally.

in /var/crash all i found was a file named .lock, zero length, dated
3-22 12:42:30pm. dunno what that's from, curious, no bash history
survived from that day, this is what i found from around then in syslog:

[Bug 1758771] [NEW] install goes to black screen

2018-03-25 Thread Zane Hitchcox
Public bug reported:

I have created a live usb, trying 17.04 and 16.04.

After clicking "Try Ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu", the screen goes blank.

It is a Lenovo Yoga (full details attached).

Also, I disabled secure boot and tried "nomodeset" instead of "quiet
splash"
