[Bug 1757388] Re: bridge device is missing

2018-03-26 Thread Timur Nitt
I've installed a new Ubuntu 18.04 system with the bridge-utils on 2018-03-27,
based on mini.iso, located here:
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso
(ISO file release date 2018-03-15). The difference of my workstation
installation before (Mate system), I used the KDE Plasma desktop now. The
script located in the attachment shows the installation flow of my favourite
system.
Now the bridge is working. I don't know the actual background of this behavior
why this didn't work before. Maybe there's another (or a new) package which
handles the bridge interface control additionally.

We ran with the apache2 package from xenial-proposed on one of the main
Ubuntu Archive servers. It's quite high traffic and what we saw was that
there's quite a lot of processes being killed off (mixture of both
SIGTERM and SIGKILL).

Unfortunately, it was quite user noticeable and we've had to revert.

See error logs for that time period -

[Bug 1759117] [NEW] Wording of saved panel layout

2018-03-26 Thread Kev Bowring
Public bug reported:

After changing the panel layout and then saving it - the new saved panel
config is labelled as a copy of the current configuration - which of
course it isn't - as I've just changed it.

[Bug 1759118] [NEW] apt attempts to connect to IPv6 addresses even when there is no IPv6 route

2018-03-26 Thread Paul
Public bug reported:

Configure internet connectivity without IPv6, e.g. via DHCP on a router
that supports only IPv4. The active interface should have only a link-
local IPv6 address. (Link-local addresses are not routable.)

Run apt update. You may see output like the following:

Here, apt has correctly used IPv4 for ddebs and security, but continues
to try IPv6 for au.archive, despite having no valid IPv6 address from
which to reach the internet.

apt should be more clever about this, and only attempt to use a protocol
if there is a non-zero chance of success.

[Bug 1725921] Re: [regression] Combobox menus have gray text on gray background

2018-03-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can't comment about bug 1758841 right now but I assume the same will
happen to xenial. Any comments about that bug should be made in bug
1758841.

I certainly can't find any such regressions in other apps.

[Bug 1758841] Re: virt-manager: Light grey menu items on light grey background are barely readable

2018-03-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Setting to Medium. I think only virt-manager is affected.

GTK2 combos in other apps are correctly showing as dark grey menus with
light text. And GTK3 combos in other apps are correctly showing as light
grey menus with dark text.

This problem seems to be confined to virt-manager so far.

[Bug 1758917] Re: Can see and interact with dock on lock screen

2018-03-26 Thread Stuart
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1724630 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724630

@Daniel - thanks, again. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both
gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock and gnome-shell-extension-dashtodock.
Neither fixed it.

But rather, now, when I lock the screen, the screen turns black and
turns off and re-awakens on keyboard/mouse movement.

[Bug 1759115] [NEW] openvassd creates Unix socket /tmp/redis.sock, whereas other openvas services expect /var/run/openvassd.sock

2018-03-26 Thread Konstantin Boyandin
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 17.10 64-bit, standard repositories used
openvas packages installed:

openvas 9.0.0
openvas-cli 1.4.5-1
openvas-manager 7.0.2-1
openvas-manager-common 7.0.2-1
openvas-scanner 5.1.1-2

When being run openvas-scanenr.servcie (openvassd) creates Unix sockeet
as

/tmp/redis.sock

whereas other openavs servics/Web GUI expect the socket at

/var/run/openvassd.sock

Quick solution looks like this

sudo ln -s /tmp/redis.sock /var/run/openvassd.sock

but creating correct Unix socket could help much more. Also, ther's no
documented setting that specifies Unix socket path.

[Bug 1759114] [NEW] Non-existing script called during openvas-setup

2018-03-26 Thread Konstantin Boyandin
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 17.10 64-bit, standard repositories used.
openvas packages installed:

openvas 9.0.0
openvas-cli 1.4.5-1
openvas-manager 7.0.2-1
openvas-manager-common 7.0.2-1
openvas-scanner 5.1.1-2

When running openvas-setup, script 'openvas-mkcert-client' is attempted
to run. Since no such script exists, openvas CA isn't generated, setup
fails and services do not start.

I managed to handle that by manually running

openvas-manage-certs -a

and re-running openvas-setup.

[Bug 1758636] Re: openjdk-10 and -11 should only be released in the 18.04 LTS updates pocket

2018-03-26 Thread Matthias Klose
The *binary* package names are default-jre*, default-jdk* and so on.
Packages should not depend on particular openjdk versions anyway. I am
more concerned to change a packaging schema having the major in the
binary name for more than a decade just a few weeks before an LTS
release. So no, I don't think that having the binary name change changed
that short before release makes any sense.

With the proposal here you have binary packages with the expected name
in the release (either in the release pocket for 8 and 9), or in the
updates pocket (10 and 11). In the end the 10 packages can go away
because we are able to remove them from the updates pocket. The 9 binary
packages are not built from source anymore, and could be replaced by
dummy (empty) packages in the updates pocket.

2018-03-26 Thread Seyeong Kim
Confirmed that removing Require-openvswitch-switch.server line in
neutron-ovs-cleanup.service file solve regression and this order issue.

but as I mentioned just before, if there are a lot of (1000) ports
there, 14 alarm clock error when running neutron-ovs-cleanup

and this[1] is pop up (this one I could see in the beginning sometimes)
also adding ExecPre= line solve it as well. ( in xenial )

[Bug 1754871] Re: qemu-bridge-helper incorrectly installed

2018-03-26 Thread Toni Spets
Reading the original Debian thread I don't really disagree with the
packager but there should at least be a better way to permanently enable
the setuid bit and have a correct apparmor profile so it would be
possible to use it.

I qemu://session as a regular user with virt-manager because it helps
managing images as I don't need to change the owner of anything from my
own user. I would even say this would be the preferred way many would do
"desktop virtualization" if they knew it existed.

Please elaborate about how step 3 failed. Please also try it again with
a very simple password.

[Bug 1756092] Re: Screen freeze for some time when unlocking

2018-03-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please:

(1) Only use the ubuntu-bug command to upload crash files:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_usr_bin_Xwayland.1000.crash
Attaching crash files to existing bugs doesn't help us, and is a security risk
for you.

(2) Update your system today, as an important fix to apport was released
today to help us stop *losing* crash files that should be created from
gnome-shell.

(3) Reboot and reproduce the issue, then run ubuntu-bug on any crash
files you find.

(4) Tell us here the IDs of all newly-created bugs from running 'ubuntu-
bug'.

[Bug 1755800] Re: Greeter/lockscreen fails to authenicate in an endless loop

2018-03-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can confirm the default swapfile behaviour in 18.04 looks weird, but I
don't know what the intention there is. Please log a separate bug for
that if you think it's a problem that needs fixing.
