[Bug 1764853] Re: winbind returns PAM_AUTHINFO_UNAVAIL on first login after reboot
1) Yes, it is a desktop system, but not a wireless system, so network is available (NetworkManager). I've checked that with ssh-ing into this machine with a local account. Both wbinfo -p and wbinfo -P showed everything is online. But also in this case the first domain login failes. 2) It is a upgrade installation (without netplan) 3) Quick question: is there a documentation how to manually migrate to netplan in a desktop system? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764853 Title: winbind returns PAM_AUTHINFO_UNAVAIL on first login after reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1764853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1641099] Re: PCManFM & Nautilus crash immediately after opening
I also had this segfault, and deleting the named socket also fixed it. The only difference I could observe is that the initial connect() call to the socket produced -1 ECONNREFUSED on a failed run (where it already existed), and on a successful run (where it did not already exist) the connect() call produced -1 ENOENT. Everything subsequent looked identical until the crash. Could it just be bogus error handling when a defunct named socket is left around due to a system crash, resume failure, etc? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1641099 Title: PCManFM & Nautilus crash immediately after opening To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm/+bug/1641099/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1764935] [NEW] kernel 4.13.0 not backwards compatible with virtualbox 5.0.18
Public bug reported: Due to the latest changes in VirtualBox kernel 4.13.0 is not compatible with VirtualBox 5.1.34 and kernel 4.4.0 is not compatible with VirtualBox 5.1.34 due to the latest changes in the kernel kernel 4.13.0 not backwards compatible with VirtualBox 5.0.18 but kernel 4.4.0 is compatible with VirtualBox 5.0.18 The incompatibility of VirtualBox 5.1.34 is caused by Oracle phasing out support for running in 'raw mode' so that system without VT-x can no longer run VMs. The lack of backwards compatibility of kernel 4.13.0 is not known to me (being a non-expert). I have requested Oracle to provide (and support) a 'heritage' version (see: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7=87387). However, the fact that VirtualBox 5.0.18 is in the repositories (i.e. listed in Synaptic) means that kernel 4.13.0 is deemed to be compatible with VirtualBox 5.0.18. [Bug 1764932] Re: Xubuntu 18.04 i386 beta 2: After splash screen, installation hangs on black screen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1764932/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. There seems to be no reason for https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /util-linux/2.27.1-6ubuntu3.5 to fix this bug, since that is a targeted bugfix; and I understand your bug report to be asking if it's reproducible with this version, rather than telling that it is not. Why would you want to install both libjpeg-progs and libjpeg-turbo-progs? "apt-cache depends libjpeg-progs" tells they conflict and replace each other. [Bug 1764932] [NEW] Xubuntu 18.04 i386 beta 2: After splash screen, installation hangs on black screen
Public bug reported: Downloaded Xubuntu 18.04 i386 beta 2, checked sha256sum, created bootable USB via a known-working ubuntu machine. The first thing that appeared was an error message "gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R image", but I pressed tab, typed "live" and hit enter, and the installation proceeded. Xubuntu splash screen appeared with loading animation. Once this disappeared, I saw a line of text flash up at the top of the screen (too quick for me to read), then the installation hangs on a black screen, with a grey bar faintly visible across the top of the screen. I tried the install process again, but got the same result. Now, a few footnotes: 1) the error message "gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R image" is the same one I reported on a daily build of Lubuntu 18.04 back in February under Bug #1747329, with two important differences: a) in that case but not this one, the installation proceeded fine after pressing tab then typing "live", and b) as noted on that bug report, that error message is no longer apparent as of Lubuntu 18.04 beta 2. 2) The machine I tried this install on is a 2005-era Dell Latitude D610 laptop, 1GB RAM, and I've successfully installed several *buntus on this machine before, including 18.04 daily builds & betas for Lubuntu and Ubuntu Budgie. I haven't been able to run apport on under Xubuntu (obviously), but have attached apport logs to this ticket taken from that machine during earlier bug reports. [Bug 1764928] [NEW] Please document apt-daily
Public bug reported: The following systemd services are installed along with apt: /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily.timer /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily-upgrade.timer /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily-upgrade.service /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily.service By default, these run the equivalent of "apt update", and "apt upgrade" at specified times. However, this behavior is documented nowhere in the man pages or /usr/share/doc. Furthermore, they run the command /usr/lib/apt/apt.systemd.daily, which is also undocumented, nor does it respond to a --help option. A non- savvy Linux user will not be able to determine that this is a shell script and find out what it does. Or worse, a partially-savvy Linux user will be able to determine that this is a shell script, and will read it imperfectly (usage is also not described in script comments) ending up with a wrong idea of what it does. The idea is to keep the system updates. That is a GOOD THING (tm). But it relies on undocumented behavior. That is a BAD THING (tm). [Bug 1761554] Re: [bionic] Extended characters in GNOME screen keyboard don't get entered
Did some testing on bionic. It appears to me as if the feature is designed solely for Wayland. Yes, on Wayland with GTK_IM_MODULE unset it seems to work without issues. On Wayland with GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus I can reproduce the issues as described above. On Xorg the feature works very poorly irrespective of the value of GTK_IM_MODULE. Basically you can only type the characters you see on the first instance of the screen keyboard (which depends on the effective XKB layout). Capitalized letters get typed as small letters, and most extended characters don't result in anything or some wrong character. Considering that Xorg will be default in 18.04, would it be worth the regression risk to stop im-config from setting GTK_IM_MODULE this late in the cycle in order to fix the feature on Wayland? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761554 Title: [bionic] Extended characters in GNOME screen keyboard don't get entered To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1761554/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1764596] Re: vanilla-gnome-desktop dependencies too strict
Hey Tim, I'd be happy to take a look at it. I haven't done anything with seeds before, but from having a quick look at the wiki it looks like that seed is what generates the vanilla-gnome-desktop package - is that right? If I wanted to try to split up the two packages would I need to produce a second seed? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764596 Title: vanilla-gnome-desktop dependencies too strict To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-gnome-meta/+bug/1764596/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
