[Bug 1773200] Re: package postfix (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: new postfix package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
Ok, so it was a flaky one off issue. Thanks for reporting back after the fix. I'll close the bug as "invalid" then as it is not a bug to be fixed in an Ubuntu package. ** Changed in: postfix (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773200 Title: package postfix (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: new postfix package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix/+bug/1773200/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1772542] Re: after waking from sleep i get text radeon error message then return login screen
Thanks Christopher (penalvch) for reply 1) update - sorry I can't accurately or reliably answer 2) crash-files - done, no bug report numbers were given 3) caffeine removed; I updated & rebooted. some testing; no issue. re-installed caffeine & i wasn't asked for any password after resume but the issue of this bug did NOT occur (5 times). Rebooted & I was once again asked for password on resumes; no issues. test 5 sleeps - no issue!! i continued with q5, then q4 & returned to testing. this bug's issue did NOT appear once 5) looking at hibernate & noted SWAP was off! it wasn't using my swap partition, entry added to /etc/fstab then it was.. on hibernate (number of tries) machine appeared to hibernate but it'd boot as if first-boot & didn't continue.. if interested you'll have to examine my longer blog (it includes syslog entries etc). I didn't get any radeon messages on screen & return to greeter that matched my bug report; as i didn't get hibernate to work - ie. different issue I'm assuming... my testing of 5 was a failure sorry ! 4) gnome desktop - reproducible - NOPE - three tries; no issues. all SLEEP-tries were very short, but *NOT* once did it radeon error & return me to lock-screen/greeter which is this bug's issue - hence I couldn't recreate today. // As this comment will only let me upload one file; I'll upload my log of today's testing... ** Tags added: sts-sru-needed ** Patch added: "lp1748147_xenial.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/debhelper/+bug/1748147/+attachment/5144099/+files/lp1748147_xenial.debdiff ** Changed in: debhelper (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Seyeong Kim (xtrusia) ** Description changed: [Impact] /var/log's Permission is going back to 755 after upgrading systemd if there are rsyslog's configuration on /var/lib/tmpfiles.d/ + + Affected X, A, B, C [Test Case] 1. deploy 16.04 vm 2. check ll /var (775) 3. apt install --reinstall systemd 4. check ll /var (755) [Regression Potential] This changes debhelper's override process. so if the other pkgs are using same technic like rsyslog pkg do, It should be changed like rsyslog [Others] For this issue, need to fix below pkgs debhelper systemd ( rebuilding with new debhelper is needed ) rsyslog ( 00rsyslog.conf to var.conf and location should be /etc/tmpfiles.d, to support override supported by debhelper ) [Original description] Upgrading or reinstalling the systemd package when using rsyslogd results in bad permissions (0755 instead of 0775) being set on /var/log/. As a consequence of this, rsyslogd can no longer create new files within this directory, resulting in lost log messages. The default configuration of rsyslogd provided by Ubuntu runs the daemon as syslog:syslog and sets ownership of /var/log to syslog:adm with mode 0775. Systemd's default tmpfiles configuration sets /var/log to 0755 in /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/var.conf, however this is overridden in /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/00rsyslog.conf which is provided by package rsyslog. It looks as though an upgrade of the systemd package fails to take /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/00rsyslog.conf into account, as demonstrated below. This results in /var/log receiving mode 0755 instead of the expected 0775: nick @ log2.be1.ams1:~ $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 1773164] Re: package texstudio (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/texstudio/tabletemplate_fullyframed_firstBold.js', which is also in package texstudio-doc
Hi, This does not seem to be a bug in the Debian/Ubuntu TeXstudio package and will therefore not be fixed. It seems that you are trying to install a package that is not part of and therefore not maintained by Debian/Ubuntu. The file you've downloaded does not seem to be suitable for a smooth upgrade. There is a current TeXstudio version (2.12.8+debian-1) in Ubuntu. Which repositories did you set to get the 2.12.8-1+18.1 package? If you really intend to switch to this foreign package you need to deinstall every "official" texstudio package before installing this package. [Bug 1773299] [NEW] Dell systems crash when disabling Nvidia dGPU
Public bug reported: Some Dell systems crash when disabling Nvidia dGPU with I+N configurations As NV Linux driver doesn't now support RTD3, BIOS removed the code to prevent system crashes as a short-term solution This is for Linux as Nvidia's Windows driver supports RTD3. [Bug 1745646] Re: Battery drains when laptop is off (shutdown)
** Description changed: == SRU Justification == A regression was introduced in 4.13-rc1 and newer kernels. This regression caused battery drain during system suspend, hibernation or shutdown for some PCI devices that are not allowed by user space to wake up the system from sleep (or power off). This fix has been submitted upstream and cc'd to stable. However, it has not landed in linux-next or mainline yet, so it is being sent as SAUCE. == Fix == UBUNTU: SAUCE: PCI / PM: Check device_may_wakeup() in pci_enable_wake() == Regression Potential == Medium. Commit fixes a current regresssion, but affects PCI power management. It will also be submitted to upstream stable and have additional review. The commit is a clean cherry pick, builds successfully and was confirmed to resolve regression. == Test Case == A test kernel was built with this patch and tested by the original bug reporter. The bug reporter states the test kernel resolved the bug. - == Original Bug Description == I am using hp AY008tx laptop , and many other laptop users (HP) are also facing the same issue . The problem don't occur when i install windows 10 . Now, only ubuntu is installed. i am using latest bios insyde20 rev 5.(latest) WOL disabled and no usb device connected checked my battery . it don't happen when i remove battery and plug it again after shutdown. tried laptop_mode_tools and tpl too ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: linux-image-4.13.0-31-generic 4.13.0-31.34~16.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-31.34~16.04.1-generic 4.13.13 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-31-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.15 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Jan 26 22:50:53 2018 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-01-25 (1 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20170801) SourcePackage: linux-hwe UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) --- ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.15 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: gopal 2391 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=0bf03973-049c-480e-9e14-7596bf68d994 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-01-25 (1 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20170801) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04f2:b56c Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0a5c:216d Broadcom Corp.
