Known, the locale data is taken from a fixed set and can be influenced only

The LC_CTYPE locale if present determines the general locale data setting.
The LC_MESSAGES locale if present determines the UI language.

For paper configuration, if the LibreOffice locale under
Tools->Options->LanguageSettings->Languages is set to Default then the
libpaper paperconf utility is probed (which itself takes several sources
into account, see man paperconf), if that is not available or the paper
can't be determined from it then LC_PAPER width and height should be
taken.

However, this nicely fits bug 46448 for which some presets of the
configurable locale data should be taken of LC_* settings if available.
Adding as related.

I wouldn't mind testing, but I'm not sure how :)

I'm on 18.04 LTS

If you can give me some commands to try (as well as a command to
revert), I have no problem trying.

Thanks!

[Bug 1778379] [NEW] install of 18.04 on Gigabyte 970A-DS3P motherboard with an AMDfx8320 chip

Said something about a boot loader problem. Loading from a USB onto a Kingston
120 GB SSD as / directory, and setting /home on a 2TB magnetic drive and a
third drive as 1TB magnetic drive.
Used a 4GB USB v2 plugged into a USB 3 slot.

Motherboard is new.
chip from another board
SSD new
2TB drive already has the home directory information from another installation
1TB drive as a full boot and home drive in a previous installation and was not
reformatted for this installation. It was to be reformatted afterwards.

System recognizes only half of the actual RAM available. This has
occurred on four motherboards that Ubuntu has been installed with:
versions 16.04 to 18.04. Makes not differenced what combinations of
slots or memory chips are used: half of four sticks, half of two sticks
and half of one stick, no matter what slot combination are used.

[Bug 1441603] Re: The "CURLY LOGICAL OR/AND" glyphs across all Nanum fonts are swapped over.

2018-06-23 Thread Changwoo Ryu
Don't expect this issue be fixed.

FYI, only the upstream (Naver Corp) can fix it, because "fixing" it by
others without changing the font name is a clear violation of SIL OFL
license. And Naver doesn't care about this font and is focusing on other
"BarunGothic" font.

[Bug 1778375] Re: All snap loops are being output for lsblk, blkid, and fdisk -l.

2018-06-23 Thread Anthony
** Description changed:

Running lsblk, blkid, and fdisf-l results in long lists of output as
every installed snap loop is listed, 2-3 times each. A new and default
Ubuntu 18.04 installation alone (without manually installing any snaps)
outputs 16 snaps for lsblk, and the list grows with each additional snap
installed. The results of fdisk -l are several pages long because of
these snaps, creating a lot of unwanted clutter when seeking drive
  device information.

Meanwhile, gnome-disk-utility shows nothing at all for snaps, only
showing my HDD, USB flash drives, and optical drive, the desired output.

Parted -l also functions as desired, only listing the relevant drive

[Bug 1758684] Re: LP only imported a fraction of the snappy translation template

2018-06-23 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
2.33.1+18.04:

Imported: 118 strings

Didn't find any build which generated a plausible number of strings,
i.e. amd64 isn't reliable either. I uploaded the amd64 POT for
2.32.9+18.04 (again) manually. (Not sure that was an excellent measure,
though.)

[Bug 1777449] Re: [18.04] unneeded gui components in dependency

2018-06-23 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Surely, it's still a question for me, that ovirt-guest-agent really can
work without the GUI-oriented usermode package. I've created a "fake"
usermode package just to provide the dependency and everything seems to
work OK though there are minor odd things (ie, check-new-release always
hogs the CPU I guess run by some guest agent routine here but I am not
so much sure ...). I really wish an expert in this area can review how
this problem can be solved nicely, ie using ovirt-guest-agent without
any X11 related thing installed otherwise. Thanks.

[Bug 1770809] Re: [bionic SRU] Port libjsyntaxpane-java 0.9.6~r156-7 java9 crash to bionic

2018-06-23 Thread Simon Quigley
Uploaded to the Bionic queue, after putting the SRU template in the bug
description (where the SRU team prefers to see it).

I also made a few minor tweaks, simply because they aren't generally
things that justify an SRU. I reverted the Vcs-* update and the addition
of your name to Uploaders (the former isn't SRUable in my opinion and
the latter isn't something done in Ubuntu).

I also changed the distribution to only be "bionic"; Launchpad will
automatically DTRT once accepted.

Thanks for your work, and for your patience on getting this sponsored.

+build without maven) is simple and well tested on Debian unstable
+and Debian testing
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Install 'freeplane', add a node with content "\latex $x_2=3$"
+(without quotes), and edit the node with Alt+Enter. Without the fix
+(-6), there will be a popup with an exception. With the fix
+(-6ubuntu1), an editor with syntax highlighting will pop up.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * In theory, the editor could still not work with the new (-6ubuntu1)
+ version (unlikely, because the fix is well-tested). There is no risk
+ since the current version of libjsyntaxpane-java is completely broken.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
Please sync libjsyntaxpane-java 0.9.6~r156-7 (universe) from Debian
  unstable (main)

[Bug 1775999] Re: Cannot set vino preferences in Lubuntu 18.04

2018-06-23 Thread Coeur Noir via ubuntu-bugs
Xubuntu 18.04 :

utilisateur@ordinateur:~$ vino-preferences
vino-preferences : commande introuvable

Without that, how to enable desktop sharing, how to set a vnc password ?

I'm trying x11vnc but its thousands options are not easy to deal with.

And I just discovered Tigervnc is now available in Ubuntu-repository but
am not sure how to make it autostart with session in my quite simple
user-case…

Vino was rather simple and efficient for my little usage.

For reference : https://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=2027493

[Bug 1778366] [NEW] apt.package.Version.raw_description doesn’t work

2018-06-23 Thread Ben Bethge
Public bug reported:

The raw_description property of apt.package.Version returns the summary
rather than the long description. This is because it accesses
self._records instead of self._translated_records, and the long
description is located only in the translated records.

I am also using Ubuntu 18.04 with latest updates.
Files(Nautilus) version 3.26.3. Actions taken: same as described by reporter.
Expected result is to open Files.
Actual result is an error window as described.
Click *ok* on the error window and Files window is open in an empty folder

[Bug 1774739] Re: Running Qt apps inside a 18.04 container crashes

2018-06-23 Thread Andrew Hayzen
@mitya57, Thanks for having a look at this. I have tried starting dbus
and dbus-daemon as you have described before running QtCreator - but it
still fails in the same way :-/

I have also tried installing dbus-x11 and executing $ export $(dbus-
launch)to set the env vars, but this still results in the same :-/

Interesting that Debian sid doesn't appear to be affected.

[Bug 1777258] Re: Qualcomm QCA6174 [168c:003e] (rev 32) on Ubuntu Bionic fresh install has flakey wifi and no BT Bluetooth

2018-06-23 Thread josh
Linux darkle90210 4.18.0-041800rc1-generic #201806162031 SMP Sun Jun 17
00:34:22 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I have updated to 4.18 and the problem persists.

** Description changed:

On fresh install on Yoga920 of Bionic Beaver 18, wifi and bluetooth
work. Then they degrade with BT not working withing a day or five, and
wifi is consistently inconsistent. On the bluetooth gui, user is unable
to turn bt on or off and the CLI shows no blocking on bt but it doesn't
  work.

I think this has to do with the Qualcomm QCA6174 [168c:003e] (rev 32) on
Ubuntu Bionic and the ath10k_pci driver but Qualcomm nor Lenovo have
  answers.

[Bug 1777258] Re: Qualcomm QCA6174 [168c:003e] (rev 32) on Ubuntu Bionic fresh install has flakey wifi and no BT Bluetooth

2018-06-23 Thread josh

** Description changed:

On fresh install on Yoga920 of Bionic Beaver 18, wifi and bluetooth
work. Then they degrade with BT not working withing a day or five, and
wifi is consistently inconsistent. On the bluetooth gui, user is unable
to turn bt on or off and the CLI shows no blocking on bt but it doesn't
  work.

I think this has to do with the Qualcomm QCA6174 [168c:003e] (rev 32) on
Ubuntu Bionic and the ath10k_pci driver but Qualcomm nor Lenovo have
  answers.

[Bug 1778233] Re: Xorg crash when using mouse

2018-06-23 Thread Ville Haapala
Seems that sometimes pScreen pointer in miPointerSetPosition() is null.

In the attached crash report, the crash is happening here:
current_x = MIPOINTER(pDev)->x - pScreen->x;

#0 0x56353930d2af in miPointerSetPosition (pDev=pDev@entry=0x56353a9d0960,
mode=mode@entry=0, screenx=screenx@entry=0x7f4a11cd25c0,
screeny=screeny@entry=0x7f4a11cd25c8, nevents=nevents@entry=0x7f4a11cd25bc,
events=events@entry=0x7f4a20145050) at ../../../../mi/mipointer.c:629

(gdb) x pScreen
0x56353a660470: 0x

But I have seen it also happening a few lines earlier here:
switch_screen = !point_on_screen(pScreen, x, y);

I don't know how it is possible to get the crash on line 629.
The pScreen pointer is accessed before that, and I would expect the crash
already there.

And I have absolutely no idea why I'm seeing that null pointer anyway.

[Bug 1778362] [NEW] thymiovpl and asebastudio are missing from aseba package

2018-06-23 Thread Mossroy
Public bug reported:

The aseba package distributed by Ubuntu (version 1.6.0-3.1~build1 for 18.04
Bionic, any architecture) is missing a few binaries.
In particular, the thymiovpl and asebastudio binaries are not there, which
provide the capability to program a Thymio device.
I noticed that the corresponding desktop and icon files are in the package :
only the binaries are missing.

The same issue is in the Debian package (version 1.6.0-4)
If you compare with the package distributed on the thymio website
(https://www.thymio.org/en:linuxinstall, version 1.6.0-2 for 17.10 Artful,
provided by the PPA
https://launchpad.net/~stephane.magnenat/+archive/ubuntu/artful/+files/aseba_1.6.0-2_amd64.deb),

[Bug 1778225] Re: Can't switch UI language for single users, only system-wide

Unfortunately I can't make sense of the information you have provided so
far. The locale configuration is screwed up somehow, but none of the two
files where such configuration is normally saved seems to be involved.
You reported that "Apply System-Wide" makes a difference, and that
precludes quite a few candidate files.

I don't know how to reproduce the behavior you describe, and so far I
see no confirmed bug in any of the packages which are involved in
language/locale settings. Can you add anything else to shed some light
on it?

Possibly you simply need help with cleaning up the configuration of your
system, and then some support forum such as is
the place to go.

[Bug 1759942] Re: [HdmiLpeAudio - Intel HDMI/DP LPE Audio, playback] No sound at all

2018-06-23 Thread Keith Gaughan
I believe I'm hitting the same issue, albeit with a Lenovo Miix 310,
which previously to upgrading to Bionic had working audio.

Attached is a log of what I get when I attempt to start pulseaudio with
"pulseaudio -vv", and the list of devices and PCMs given by "aplay -l"
and "aplay -L" respectively.

** Attachment added: "Archive of log files."

[Bug 1778011] Re: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

2018-06-23 Thread fargoth
Can we have an option to switch to the iGPU, but keep the nvidia card
powered and its modules loaded so that it can be used for CUDA
calculations?
