[Bug 1781015] Re: Calamares fails in UEFI mode after external command in Lubuntu Cosmic
I can add - There is a working DVD drive in my Toshiba laptop. But it is empty (no disk inserted) during these tests. - This is still tested with the daily iso file dated July 11 2018 (zsynced yesterday). - I cloned the iso file to a USB pendrive. There is no problem to run it live in my Toshiba; it works in UEFI mode as well as in BIOS mode. [Bug 1781038] Re: KVM guest hash page table failed to allocate contiguous memory (CMA)
Hi, This came up in the context of a customer issue. I have asked them if we can share anonymised data here, and I will pass on any response. >From my analysis of the code while working the case, it would seem that you could reproduce this by spinning up and tearing down VMs of varying memory sizes in order to fragment the CMA. It looks like PCI pass- through would exacerbate the issue, although I don't believe this was a factor in this instance. I wonder if this is fully 'solvable' per se - with memory overcommit it should be easy to simply run out of CMA space - but it should be possible to at least print much more helpful information either from the kernel or from qemu. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1781309/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1779793] Re: open VM tools DKMS fails to build mostly due to multiply defined preprocessor symbols [error: implicit declaration of function 'init_timer_deferrable']
Aw, heck, probably not. All I use VirtualBox for is once in a while tinkering with old Windows installations, like Windows XP and Windows 98. It probably doesn't need this legacy vmxnet module. The builds went fine with 4.13.0-45-generic and less. I noticed you were building for 4.4. This was a problem with the DKMS build for 4.15.0-24-generic. I think that's the latest installed for linux-image- generic-hwe-16.04, where previously it was something in the 4.13 series (aptitude shows 4.13.0.45.64). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1779793 Title: open VM tools DKMS fails to build mostly due to multiply defined preprocessor symbols [error: implicit declaration of function 'init_timer_deferrable'] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1779793/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1773597] Re: USB flash drive won't mount
I booted the Dell Studio XPS machine from a USB drive loaded with Ubuntu 16.04. I inserted multiple USB drives (one holding the OS was already there) and two others. They mounted within seconds and Nautilus displayed their contents when the drive was clicked on. This did not happen in Ubuntu 18.04. A drive would not come up for 4+ minutes. And would not mount multiple USB drives. HOWEVER, something hinky did happen. When multiple drives were mounted, the USB mouse would not function. So there is something wrong with the USB subsystem in that machine. But, 16.04 definitely worked better than 18.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773597 Title: USB flash drive won't mount To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1773597/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1781271] Re: Gnome shell crashing after login
It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. Please: 1. Apply the workaround from bug 994921. 2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash and tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the contents of the /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id file on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on the machine? If so then please send them to us. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1781271 Title: Gnome shell crashing after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1781271/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello Karl, Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird. You made this bug report in 2015 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then. Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug? If you are, could you run the following (only once): apport-collect 1439084 and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.
