[Bug 1781846] Re: libgdal-dev won't install if libmariadbclinet-dev is installed

2018-07-15 Thread Bas Couwenberg
GDAL is not actively maintained in Ubuntu, your issue is unlikely to be
fixed.

default-libmysqlclient-dev on Ubuntu should depend on libmysqlclient-dev
where MySQL is still the default.

In Debian MariaDB is the default and it works as expected.

Uninstall the libmariadbclient-dev to resolve the conflict and/or
disable all 3rd party repositories/PPAs that may be providing
conflicting packages.

[Bug 1779237] Re: package python3 3.6.5-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: installed python3 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 4

2018-07-15 Thread Steve Langasek
Removing the regression-update tag. This is certainly not a regression
introduced in the update of the python3-defaults package, and there have
been similar reports against the version of python3-defaults in the
bionic release pocket. The bug is triggered by the configuration of
python3-defaults, but that is probably not where the bug lies.

For the users who are seeing this bug: what is the output of 'dpkg -l
hplip-data' on these systems?

2018-07-15 Thread Wes Newell
Has to be the right shift key on my 18.04lts system, but I've always
just used tapping the Esc key immediately after post until the grub menu
comes up. I explained earlier how to remove the .24 kernel. But don't
try to remove the one you are running at the time. Not sure what would
happen then.

[Bug 1026046] Re: Missing support for thumb resting on bottom of clickpad

2018-07-15 Thread JulioHM
Thanks @Bob (caltinay) for the libinput insight.

I'm using Linux Mint 19, a Bionic based distro, and was suffering from
the same issue.

libinput, in fact, was already installed. All I had to do is change the
driver to libinput creating a file called
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-libinput.conf with the following contents:

##
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "libinput touchpad catchall"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"

Clickpad now works exactly as it should. Touch sensitivity at the bottom
area (where the buttons are located) is now correctly disabled.

Thanks!

[Bug 1781826] Re: System logout when turn off the screen or suspend Ubuntu 18.04

2018-07-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Firstly, please run this command to send us more information from the
machine:

  apport-collect 1781826

Secondly, it sounds like some part of the system has crashed. Please:

1. Apply the workaround from bug 994921.

2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
 ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
and tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the contents of the /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id file on the
machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on the machine? If so
then please send them to us.

[Bug 1692079] Re: Can't grab message list scrollbar

2018-07-15 Thread Mark Crompton
Cannot drag vertical scroll bars in main window of Thunderbird.
Note: problem only occurs when Today Pane is open. If Today Pane is not
displayed, scroll bars work properly.
Scroll bar also works properly in Write Message window. Only main window is
affected.

[Bug 1672297] Re: gnome-shell uses lots of memory, and grows over time

2018-07-15 Thread waffen
Well for this bug I need to install Xubuntu and lightdm, run very fast
with no issues, BUT looks like Firefox is eating a lot of RAM in both
desktops, for my job I need FF to be opened all the time, so the time to
time I need to close it and relaunch it, if not FF freezing my desktop,
now even Chrome eats a lower portion of RAM than FF... are you have
similar problems with FF + ubuntu?

[Bug 1781125] Re: Display drivers are not Avaialble

2018-07-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK.

Deleting xorg.conf.failsafe was just the first step required. I think it
was a leftover from before you installed the most recent driver(s).

You might next need to create a new file:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/390.48/README/editxconfig.html

You might also be able to fix it by removing your nvidia drivers and
then reinstalling only ONE of them.

2018-07-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for doing this.

If the lockup is in gnome-shell then the only slightly suspicious
information I can see relates to:

target_method_name = 0x7fd923379223 "QueryFilesystemInfo"
target_interface_name = 0x55ddc48f43e0 "org.gtk.vfs.Mount"

so something might be stuck querying your home directory. Does it exist
on a special/remote drive? Or with an unusual filesystem?

[Bug 1781846] [NEW] libgdal-dev won't install if libmariadbclinet-dev is installed

2018-07-15 Thread Russell Almond
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to install version 2.2.3+dfsg-2 of libgdal-dev in Ubuntu
18.04 LTS.

ralmond@Cherry:~$ sudo apt-get install libgdal-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgdal-dev : Depends: default-libmysqlclient-dev but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

There don't appear to be broken packages.

ralmond@Cherry:~$ sudo apt-get -f install
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

I suspect what is going on is that there is a conflict with between
default-libmysqlclient-dev and libmariadbclient-dev (I have version
1:10.1.29-6 installed).

I'm reporting this as a bug because I suspect it is a dependency error
in the packaging. I think the dependency can be satisfied with either
MariaDB or MySQL, but the package is only configured to take the one.

[Bug 1215524] Re: Thunderbird deletes messages rather than move them to Deleted

2018-07-15 Thread gf
Hi John,
I have created an "upstream" bug report at the Thunderbird/Mozilla bug report
site called Bugzilla. And I have linked that bug report to this one.

Here is the link to the other report:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1475900

This is as far as I can go on this ticket. I hope they action it or provide a
workaround soon.

[Bug 1766020] Re: package python3 3.6.5-3 failed to install/upgrade: installed python3 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 4

2018-07-15 Thread Daniel Ayers
I have just struck this bug on 18.04LTS - not when installing hplip (it
has been installed & working for weeks) but when doing an "apt -y
upgrade".

The problem was caused by an error in the python3 rtupdate hook hplip-
data.

I am running hplip 3.18.5. Failed update transaction is attached.
