[Bug 1784065] Re: upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 fails due to `interest-await' in trigger

2018-07-28 Thread Dave Butcher
This workaround doesn't work for me...
I have i386 architecture, so I changed the commands as follows:

wget
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/2.48.2-0ubuntu3/+build/15131276/+files/libglib2.0-0_2.48.2-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
wget
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/d/dpkg/dpkg_1.18.4ubuntu1_i386.deb
ar -x dpkg_1.18.4ubuntu1_i386.deb
tar -xzf data.tar.gz
sudo ./usr/bin/dpkg -i libglib2.0-0_2.48.2-0ubuntu3_i386.deb

everything appeared to process correctly, but when I run
sudo apt-get -f install
it fails with the same "interest-await" error as before.

rcu_cbs, radio, amdgpu) it looped on boot. just like back in 4.15.

[Bug 1753510] Re: Cannot boot/install AMD Ryzen 2400G

2018-07-28 Thread Peter Silva
did a series of boots with 4.18.rc6, rcu=0-3, rcu=0-7, from power off,
from reset (behaviour is always different from power on versus when
starting from a reset.) applied the radion and amdgpu options above, no
success. The behaviour varies (sometimes hang, sometimes crash,
sometimes loop infinitely, once in a while get to initramfs prompt.)

[Bug 1784198] [NEW] lubuntu bash preferences too big

2018-07-28 Thread vmc
Public bug reported:

lubuntu 18.10
LXQt version 0.13.0

When I open bash and select Preferences. The Terminal Settings is much
taller than the screen size. I can't see the OK-Cancel-Apply buttons. I
need to use the mouse from the top of screen and reduce the size
manually.

I expect the settings size to be within the parameters so the bottom of
the settings screen show.

See attachment.

[Bug 1777345] Re: Sound card not working in Ubuntu new kernel version except reinstall some packages

2018-07-28 Thread nimnull
Hello

I would like to join to this issue, because I am also experiencing pulse
sound problem since 4.4.0-128 kernel

4.4.0-128 + amd64-microcode:amd64 3.20180524.1 made my sound card disappeared
at all
I revert to previous amd64-microcode 2.20160316.1 and 4.4.0-127 and got my
sound card and sound back

Then I tried 4.4.0-130, 4.4.0-131 with amd64-microcode 2.20160316.1, the
result is sound does exist, card does exist, but I can not change the
volume via pavucontrol. It always the same level

I use Xubuntu 16.04
Lenovo Thinkpad T480
Intel processor i7

00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Device 9d71 (rev 21)
 Subsystem: Lenovo Device 225d
...
 Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel

I do not have any problem only with 4.4.0-127 + amd64-microcode 2.20160316.1
And do not have any ideas why amd64-microcode affects on my intel system

Thank you

This assumption can be invalid when another request is performed on another
thread before the XShmAttach() reads |request| from the display.

An |attached| sequence number that is too old means that
_cairo_xlib_shm_pool_cleanup() can call _cairo_xlib_display_shm_pool_destroy()
and so shmdt() before the server processes the ShmAttach request, resulting in
BadAccess errors.

Similarly _cairo_xlib_shm_surface_mark_active() is called and uses
XNextRequest() before the corresponding request, leading to similar races
affecting _cairo_xlib_shm_surface_flush() and get_compositor() and
_cairo_xlib_shm_info_cleanup().  I assume _cairo_xlib_shm_surface_get_obdata()
has similar issues.

I wonder whether the fix of setting the pool->attached = XNextRequest(dpy)

what that is, but as long as there is one (ahem, that might be a bit of an
assumption; could we just add a dummy?) then it should complete. Not got a

It would then have a sequence number either equal to that of the XShmAttach
request or to that of a subsequent request, if there was one.

So... this bug is about _cairo_xlib_shm_pool_create() getting the sequence
number for pool->attached wrong, resulting in cairo possibly destroying the
shared memory segment to early. The discussion concluded that setting
pool->attached = XNextRequest(dpy)-1 after the request is the right fix.

[Bug 1784191] [NEW] smartd sends mail before network is up on boot

2018-07-28 Thread Barry Kolts
Public bug reported:

 lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release:18.04

apt-cache policy smartmontools
smartmontools:
  Installed: 6.5+svn4324-1
  Candidate: 6.5+svn4324-1
  Version table:
 *** 6.5+svn4324-1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expected behavior:
smartd sends a test email on boot.

What happens:
No mail is recieved. sSMTP logs "Unable to locate Mail server" and "cannot open
mailserver:25". I'm using the same smartd.conf and my script smartd calls that
I used on 14.04, which worked flawlessly.

Work around:
I had my script sleep 5 seconds before sending the mail. This worked fine
leading me to believe smartd is calling my script before networking is up. But
this is not an elegant solution. So I copied /lib/systemd/system/smartd.service
to /etc/systemd/system/smartd.service and add the line
"After=network-online.target"This worked fine. So the full smartd.sevice unit
is:
[Unit]
Description=Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology (SMART) Daemon
Documentation=man:smartd(8) man:smartd.conf(5)
After=network-online.target

[Service]
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/smartmontools
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/smartd -n $smartd_opts
ExecReload=/bin/kill -HUP $MAINPID
StandardOutput=syslog

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

I haven't got any other machines to test this on. So I hope the report
will help some one else

Re: [Bug 1773704] Re: Typo at line 184 in xhci-pci.c makes trouble for Renesas USB chipset in Bionic 18.04

2018-07-28 Thread Jeffrey Miller
I wasn't able to test the kernel you provided, dpkg -i complained of
conflicting packages. I suspect because the kernel was down-rev relative to the
running kernel. But I don't reslly know, I'm relatively new to compilling and
installing kernels.
However, I was able to compile and install my own kernel on the target machine.
Once again, all I did was change line 184 to be identical to like 187 and it
worked like a charm: no more errors.
So my suggestion was that if you made the exact same change, your test jernel
_should_ work. But I can understand if that's just not the way it's done around
here, and I'll be happy to test your kernel if I can get around the error
message. Is there an option I can give to dpkg to force the installation?

[Bug 1770742] Re: Cannot find -lGL

2018-07-28 Thread DeathByDenim via ubuntu-bugs
Oh, sorry. I'm really late to reply to this. Yeah, I do have the
proprietary nVidia drivers installed. Those drivers came from the
default Ubuntu repositories.

[Bug 1205384] Re: Lock can be circumvented by switching to console

2018-07-28 Thread Jarno Suni
If you have light-locker running, and do the steps in the description,
session will remain locked, but it will show desktop for short time.
This is in Xubuntu 16.04, which does not have lxsession installed. I do
not see how lxsession is affected.

By the way, the midisport-firmware rule file lies in
/etc/udev/rules.d/42-midisport-firmware.rules still works.

[Bug 517750] Re: udev rules under /etc have incorrect path to firmware files

2018-07-28 Thread Munou
I was using M-Audio Oxygen Keyboard in udev v237, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

According to lots of the changes in udev since v136,
the rules configuration of this package (from sourceforge) is out of date.

The newest fix I can find is in following repo:
https://github.com/oeai/m-audio-usb-midi-fw/

I have to change all the rules 'SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device"' to 'SUBSYSTEM=="usb"'
before installing it,
However, it finally works for my keyboard.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 1784168] [NEW] gscan2pdf 2.1.3 not sends E-Mail (regression)

2018-07-28 Thread Thomas Mayer
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded gscan2pdf 1.3.9 to the ppa version 2.1.3, still using
ubuntu 16.04.

After the upgrade, sending pdf via email no longer works whereas it
worked before with 1.3.9 (regression). As a mail program, I'm using
thunderbird as before.

Attached is the dialog box: When pressing OK, nothing happens and the
dialog box also does not disappear unless I cancel the operation.

[Bug 1766555] Re: openscad package missing from 18.04

2018-07-28 Thread Bo Lundberg
When I installed Bionic in April there where several problems, among openscad
whas one. This and other information about the future of Ubuntu made me to
leave Ubuntu for my work, after 10 years, in favor of Debian.
Is Mark Shuttleworth doing a "Red Hat"? In any case its nice to get rid of
commercial considerations.

[Bug 1784165] [NEW] Upgrader leaves proposed pocket enabled

2018-07-28 Thread Robie Basak
Public bug reported:

I just updated from Artful to Bionic using the usual GUI. Before
upgrade, I had artful-proposed in sources.list, with a
/etc/apt/preferences.d/proposed-updates pin as follows:

Package: *
Pin: release a=artful-proposed
Pin-Priority: 400

This pin is recommended in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed.

I forgot I had this here. I've ended up with Bionic installed, but fully
upgraded up to proposed. The preferences file wasn't touched, and since
it is release-specific, it now has no effect.

Could you perhaps detect if the proposed pocket appears in sources.list
or sources.list.d and disable it like you do PPAs before upgrade?

** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1784161] Re: Mouse inoperative in other apps while Shotwell is uploading to Flickr

2018-07-28 Thread Nate B
Adding some detail here: Switching back to xorg reproduces the bug 100%.
I can click on the launcher, it seems to be the only thing that'll
receive my clicks while the bug is active, but new apps launched while
the bug is active are also unable to see mouse clicks.

Kernel is 4.15.0-29-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 17 15:39:52 UTC 2018
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

shotwell is 0.28.2 that came preinstalled, I've done nothing to it other
than import a folder of photos and authenticate with Flickr for my
upload key.
