[Bug 1760545] Re: [18.04] GLK hang after a while
Hi Guys, This might be a very noob question but, if I'm running Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS, how do I install this fix? I noted that the fix is done in linux- oem package but a "sudo apt list --installed" seems to suggest this isn't currently an installed package on my installation? Is it simply a case of either (A) running "sudo apt-get install linux- oem" or (B) Waiting for this to be fixed in 18.04.1 LTS and available via the standard apt-get update / apt-get upgrade mechanism? If this is still to be fixed/released in 18.04.1 LTS, is there a timeline for when the fix would be available? [Bug 1799851] Re: Software Boutique window suddenly shows Welcome window and looses all the apps I queued to install
Dear Luke, After reinstalling Ubuntu MATE 18.04 I needed to reinstall the apps I use from the Software Boutique. I selected Menu->Administration->Software Boutique. The Software Boutique opened. I then selected each category tab and clicked the "Install" button for each of the apps I use. There are approximately 27 apps I use. During this process suddenly the Boutique Window displayed the welcome window and lost all the apps I queued for installation. I was only using the app. I am not a Linux guru (yet). I was not debugging the app. Obviously something is wrong in the source code for the app to show this behaviour. I am only reporting the bug so that the developers can have all the information I possess in order to fix their code. I believe that comments should be focused on the app and its behaviour. I've upgraded my drivers so that I can use the new Steam compatibility layer so that I can run Windows games on Linux. I upgraded to 410.48 and began seeing this issue. Based on https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Requirements you need drivers >= 396, so this solution that we should install driver 390 doesn't seem like the proper solution to me. [Bug 1799180] Re: Ubuntu 18.10 / Linux 4.19 -rc7/8/Final - System slows / stops
apport information ** Description changed: Hi there folks sorry if it's inappropriate to report a bug in an upstream release candidate kernel, but as a suggested test / fix for https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1796743 I was told to install an upstream kernel, which I did. When I run with that kernel for any length of time, or do anything involving high CPU (like run Firefox for instance) the system fan begins to whine and the system slows down to the point where it finally hangs. I tried to run 'ubuntu-bug linux' from the terminal, but when I do I get the error seen in the screenshot (attached). I'll go back to running 4.18 for now because not being able to sleep the laptop isn't a show stopper, but it's definitely something I consider important for a fully fledged operating system / work environment :) Thanks and please let me know if there's anything I can do to provide more data / help with testing / etc. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu13 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.10 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-10-07 (14 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.10 "Cosmic Cuttlefish" - Beta amd64 (20180927) Package: linux (not installed) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash Tags: cosmic Uname: Linux 4.19.0-041900rc8-generic x86_64 UnreportableReason: The running kernel is not an Ubuntu kernel UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True + --- + ProblemType: Bug + ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu13 + Architecture: amd64 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.10 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-10-07 (20 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.10 "Cosmic Cuttlefish" - Beta amd64 (20180927) + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcEnviron: + TERM=xterm-256color + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + Tags: cosmic + Uname: Linux 4.19.0-041900-generic x86_64 + UnreportableReason: The running kernel is not an Ubuntu kernel + UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + UserGroups: + + _MarkForUpload: True ** Attachment added: "ProcCpuinfoMinimal.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1799180/+attachment/5206407/+files/ProcCpuinfoMinimal.txt ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1799180 Title: Ubuntu 18.10 / Linux 4.19 -rc7/8/Final - System slows / stops To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1799180/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
