[Bug 1804748] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2018-12-19 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From cborn...@de.ibm.com 2018-12-20 02:29 EDT---
You can have vt1-7 via virtio GPU. See IBM Bug 172541 launchpad 1799467 for a
feature tracker for that.

As soon as you have a vnc defition you can then redirect the sclp console to
vnc as well. You have to use "vc" instead of "pty2. Virsh console will no
longer work then as the sclp console is then available via vnc. You can then
switch with ctrl-alt-1/2 between virtio-gpu and sclptty in the vnc.
When in virtio-gpu you can witch with alt-f1/f2/f3 between the vt instances.

For reference my xml looks like:

@Stefan, maybe we should have a look if we can document this in a blog
entry?

[Bug 1809215] Re: intel wifi 8260 stopped working after bios upgrade

2018-12-19 Thread Martin Vysny
Hold on please. IT informed us that there is something broken with our
WPA2 Enterprise WiFi hotspots. A connection to an unencrypted WiFi works
correctly; the issue only starts to manifest when I try to connect to
our WPA2 Enterprise wifi.

Perhaps it's the hotspot which is actually broken, and not the wifi on
my machine; and maybe intel driver just reacts lousily to a broken
hotspot with crashes.

[Bug 1809217] Re: Image icons appear as black rectangles instead of previews

2018-12-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This might be related to your kernel starting in recovery mode with
"nomodeset":

[36.451] Kernel command line:
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-43-generic root=UUID=eb14491b-f949-4add-

Please try rebooting and as soon as the purple screen appears, hit Esc.
Now in the menus select a standard kernel that is not recovery mode.

** Summary changed:

[Bug 1809217] Re: Image icons appear as black rectangles instead of previews

2018-12-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Cela pourrait être lié au démarrage de votre noyau en mode de
récupération avec "nomodeset":

[ 36.451] Kernel command line:
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-43-generic root=UUID=eb14491b-f949-4add-
b1ee-9395094ec859 ro recovery nomodeset

S'il vous plaît essayez de redémarrer et dès que l'écran violet
apparaît, appuyez sur Echap. Maintenant, dans les menus, sélectionnez un
noyau standard qui n'est pas en mode de récupération ("recovery").

[Bug 1809217] [NEW] ???

2018-12-19 Thread duffaud
Public bug reported:

Sorry, but I'm a french guy and my english isn't fluent enough for telling you
what is happenning to me . So I must follow in french.
soit. Please !!!

[Bug 1809215] [NEW] intel wifi 8260 stopped working after bios upgrade

2018-12-19 Thread Martin Vysny
Public bug reported:

Good day, my wifi stopped connecting to WPA2 Enterprise, right after
I've upgraded BIOS. The BIOS upgrade could cause this; I was also
playing with bluetooth headphones which could be connected.

The Wifi works properly in Windows 10, so I assume it's not a hardware
bug.

The interesting line in dmesg:

[ 133.921138] iwlwifi :04:00.0: Microcode SW error detected.
Restarting 0x9200.

I thought the microcode file could be corrupted, so I've tried apt
install --reinstall linux-firmware and reboot, but that didn't work.

dmidecode -s bios-version says N1EET81W (1.54 ); dmesg says LENOVO
20EN0005MS/20EN0005MS, BIOS N1EET81W (1.54 ) 11/14/2018

Thank you for providing any pointers...

[Bug 1728244] Re: Touchpad stops working after reboot on Apollo Lake

2018-12-19 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Another Bionic back port here:
https://people.canonical.com/~khfeng/lp1728244/bionic/

Make sure the system gets coldboot (shutdown) before testing.

If this doesn't work, please file a new bug. Quite possibly the touchpad
is different.

** Description changed:

- On the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro (V4) laptop, using an Apollo Lake N3450
- processor, if you install Ubuntu 17.10 (or less) with isorespin and use
- rEFInd as bootloader (this is the only way to get linux booting on this
- laptop) everything works out of the box, but after a reboot or two the
- touchpad stops working. Both in Ubuntu and Windows 10. The only way to
- restore functionality is to boot from usb key ubuntu 17.10 respined, or
- disassemble laptop and detach-reattach battery cable. This is mesg |
- grep i2c_hid:
+ ===SRU Justification===
+ Hantick touchpad stops working after reboot.

+ [Fix]
+ Disable runtime power management for the touchpad.
+
+ [Test]
+ User confirmed it fixed the issue.
+ Some users reported it doesn't work for them, I'll ask them to file new
+ bugs for different touchpads.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Low. Disable runtime power management doesn't affect devivce's
+ funtionality. In general desktop usage the graphical session opens the
+ touchpad HID device so the touchpad never get runtime suspended, so it
+ won't hurt power in this case.
