thanks for your reply.

A first question, through the test kernel comes the Update Manager
confused and shows me that although the kernel 4.15.0-43 is installed
the kernel 4.15.0-43 can be installed. Could I reinstall the standard
kernel and then make the corection in "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf"
and insert "options snd-hda-intel model=mute-led-gpio"?

But I have one more question, you say: "I need time to fix the F11 LED at the
moment." Is this problem also being addressed in this topic, or do I have to
send a new Bug-Report?

And then you say: "I will send the proper fix to upstream so that you no
longer need to modify /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf." Does that mean
that this fix will later be included in all kernels or does it concern a
specific fix for alsa?

Thanks again for your support and have a nice weekend.
Best Regards
Helmut

[Bug 1748565]

2019-01-18 Thread johan.hedberg
The "last event is not cmd complete" is in most/all cases a red herring,
so please don't focus on that. There's a patch in mainline that will
remove it for all valid situations (i.e. when the command completed with
command status instead of command complete):
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=1629db9c75342325868243d6bca5853017d91cf8

It seems like this issue has probably lots of different bugs mixed into
it, all incorrectly attributing themselves to this misleading warning
message, when in fact there's something unrelated going wrong. Those
that are experiencing issues even after applying the patch I referred
to, please open new issues, especially if the "last event is not cmd
complete" message goes away for you with the patch. This one can
probably be closed since the misleading message should now be gone.

[Bug 1812469] [NEW] Xorg freeze (fail to get in the desktop during boot with black screen blocking)

2019-01-18 Thread Benjamin Li
Public bug reported:

I have this issue since quite a long time ago. But none of the system
upgrades had my problem solved! And I can only use Ubuntu under the
recovery mode, which is so inconvenient!

So, my problem is just as the title stated. I can't get in the system
unless I use recovery mode!

And I have tried the latest kernel or the normal kernel before I install
Ubuntu 18.04, which I think is my device's hardware incompatibility with
the desktop, the Gnome desktop.

And I guess it's because there's lack of certain drive for my device,
which is so uncommon, a 2-in-1 model.

Please help, I use Ubuntu so much that I don't just switch it! And
Ubuntu is so useful when I am learning Computer science stuff!

Thanks in advance!

2019-01-18 Thread d a i s y
I've changed #WaylandEnable=false to WaylandEnable=false and reboot the system,
after splash there is nothing so I entered into VT with Ctrl+Alt+F2,
it shows a message, 'a start job is running for hold until boot process
finishes up.'

I reviewed this bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1779476 and
installed haveged but does not solve the issue

[Bug 1791427] Re: Touchpad and/or trackpoint stop working after S3 suspend on Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th

2019-01-18 Thread AaronMa
Changelog:
1, Fix trackpoint (red stick on the keyboard) lost after resume, verified;
2, force enable nosleep mode of RMI;
I didn't reproduce touchpad lost after resume, this change tries to fix
it.
3, add more debug info;

Notes:
1, i2c-i801 module should be loaded. touchpad/trackpoint should work at smbus
mode (intertouch=1).
2, If touchpad lost is still reproduced, please do the following steps and
upload the log below:
1) please add "rmi_core.debug_flags=0x7" in kernel parameter;
2) when touchpad lost after resume,
$ cat /proc/interrupts |grep rmi > rmi_irq.log
   move mouse curse with touchpad even it is not moving.
$ cat /proc/interrupts |grep rmi >> rmi_irq.log

Then upload "journalctl -b 0 -k" and rmi_irq.log file.

Thanks for testing.

[Bug 1812466] [NEW] netboot: failed to parse DNS settings set by dhclient

2019-01-18 Thread cuihao
Public bug reported:

I am setting up diskless netboot for Ubuntu LiveCDs, with following
kernel arguments:

```
boot=casper netboot=nfs nfsroot=192.168.89.10:/extracted/livecd toram
```

I have noticed the following strange error messages after dhcp (also see
the attachment):

```
/init: /run/net-ens3.conf: line 8: 202.38.64.56: not found
/init: /run/net-ens3.conf: line 8: 202.38.64.56: not found
/init: /run/net-ens3.conf: line 8: 202.38.64.56: not found
no search or nameservers found in /run/net-ens3.conf /run/net-ens3.conf
/run/net6-*.conf
/init: /run/net-ens3.conf: line 8: 202.38.64.56: not found
/init: /run/net-ens3.conf: line 8: 202.38.64.56: not found
```

I manually broke the init process, and found line 8 of /run/net-
ens3.conf is:

```
IPV4DNS0=192.168.88.1 202.38.64.56 202.38.64.17
```

The problematic code is in the `netinfo_to_resolv_conf` function of
`scripts/functions`. It sources `/run/net-ens3.conf` (which is obviously
not in correct shell syntax due to the space inserted between multiple
DNS servers) to get network settings:

```
. "$f" || { echo "WARN: failed '. \"$f\"'" 1>&2; return 1; }
```

The bug is introduced by commit a77729e9, which replaced IP-config with
dhclient. While IP-config seems to write each DNS in `IPV4DNS0`,
`IPV4DNS1`, etc., dhclient write all DNS in `IPV4DNS0`, which is not
expected by `netinfo_to_resolv_conf`.

I can confirm 18.10 LiveCDs are affected.

  `IPV4DNS1`, etc., dhclient write all DNS in `IPV4DNS0`, which is not
  expected by `netinfo_to_resolv_conf`.

  I can confirm 18.10 LiveCDs are affected.

[Bug 1812466] Re: netboot: failed to parse DNS settings set by dhclient

2019-01-18 Thread cuihao
Another reasonable solution is to ask isc-dhcp packagers to change the
dhclient hook script `/etc/initramfs-tools/lib/etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-
hooks.d/config`.

Currently it writes all DNS in IPV4DNS0:
```
echo "IPV4DNS0=$new_domain_name_servers" >> /run/net-$interface.conf
```

[Bug 1812467] [NEW] Missing .libretro file for Nestopia

2019-01-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Impact
==
The Nestopia "libretro core" can't be used in the GNOME Games app without a
specially formatted .libretro metadata file.

Test Case
=
Ensure that /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libretro/nestopia.libretro is installed.

Optional Test Case 2

Visit
https://gitlab.gnome.org/aplazas/retro-test-data/tree/master/testsuite240p

Download 240pee-0.08.2.zip

Save the contained file named 240pee.nes to the root of your home
directory.

GNOME Games should be able to open it.

Note that GNOME Games requires tracker to be installed. You must log out
and log back in after installing tracker if it was not already
installed.

Regression Potential

The only change here is the installation of a file that was accidentally
dropped from the .install file in the 1.47-2ubuntu3 update.

[Bug 1682863] Re: gnome-games-app doesn't pick up libretro cores due to missing descriptor files

2019-01-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm marking libretro-snes9x invalid because it duplicates the
functionality of libretro-bsnes-mercury and the GNOME Games app doesn't
yet offer a way to handle duplication. I'm marking libretro-mupen64plus
invalid because GNOME Games doesn't support that package.

All the rest should have working AppStream metadata and .libretro files
in Ubuntu 19.04 which will be released in April.

I intend to work on adding those files to Ubuntu 18.04 LTS to fix this
issue there, but I will file individual bugs since it's not very easy to
track so many packages with only one Launchpad bug.

[Bug 1812464] [NEW] Emailed PDF shows blank in atril but AR is fine

2019-01-18 Thread MR Zenwiz
Public bug reported:

I received a PDF file in email and downloaded it to my Xubuntu 18.04
desktop host. When I tried to read the document in atril, it came up
blank.

I downloaded it to my Google drive and was able to read it there, but
even downloading that copy showed blank in atril.

I viewed the document in my Windows VM with Acrobat Reader and it reads
just fine.

Atril seems to be the problem.

1. 19:56 [admar@marbase:~] $ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release:18.04

2) 19:57 [admar@marbase:~] $ apt-cache policy atril
atril:
  Installed: 1.20.1-2ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1.20.1-2ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1.20.1-2ubuntu2 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) I expected to see the contents of the PDF document.

4) I saw a blank page.

In addition to the listed attachment, I have two screenshots to follow.
1) Screenshot of Atril's window (blank).
2) Screenshot of AR's window (populated).

** Affects: atril (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: atril blank pdf

** Attachment added: "Original PDF that shows blank in Atril."
