[Bug 1804408] Re: [19.04 FEAT] LUKS2 support for pam_mount

2019-02-13 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
FYI - before you go testing this - the builders currently have some issues.
So while the source is in -proposed the package isn't fully built yet.
Be sure when testing to actually have the new code in place.

TL;DR - probably better wait one day to start testing

[Bug 1783499] Re: systemd: Failed to send signal

2019-02-13 Thread Attila
We sent all the logs and captures data to HPE and they asked to update
the BIOS to the latest one. We already using the latest firmware, 4
months past the recommended firmware. Also, we have 200 servers with
Windows 10 doing same test - reboot after each test and there are no
hangs. HPE stated that they do not have any other reports of hangs on
reboots or shutdowns for this hardware.

Any other suggestion from your side?

Meanwhile I'll do a dist-upgrade from 16.04 to 18 and do the reboot
test.

[Bug 1719545] Re: [P9][LTCTest][Opal][FW910] cpupower monitor shows multiple stop Idle_Stats

2019-02-13 Thread Khaled El Mously
@PAVAMAN: Is there a reason that you installed the modules and modules-extra
packages using 'dpkg -i' and then tried to install the kernel using 'apt-get
install'? It doesn't look like you installed the right kernel there.
I think the third command should have been 'dpkg -i
linux-image-unsigned-4.15.0-45-generic_4.15.0-45.48~16.04.1_ppc64el.deb'

Please try to install the kernel that way and retry the test. Thanks

[Bug 1815665] Re: New upstream microreleases 9.5.16, 10.7 and 11.2

2019-02-13 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
While we will discuss with the SRU Team which way (revert or break) we as
Ubuntu want to go I analyzed the test results with the reverts as they are in
the MPs.
This shall ensure that there are no more lingering errors.

Xenial [1]:
- bareos, orafce, pgfincore, pgpool2, postgresql-multicorn, postgresql-plproxy
- already a force-badtest
- gearmand @ armhf is known to be flaky
- libdbd-pg-perl was hit by random unrelated error and is good on retry
- skytools3 is good now

Bionic [2]:
- diaspora-installer-armhf/libvreoffice-i386/postgresql-10-armhf known to be
flaky
- pglogical already a force-badtest
- postgresql-plproxy, postgresql-rum, pg-repack are all fixed now

Cosmic [3]:
- pglogical already a force-badtest
- postgresql-plproxy, postgresql-rum, pg-repack are all fixed now

To me that looks much better from a "new regression" POV.

I could not read the "compiling bla-bla-bla" part in the summery, so on
a second thought it might correspond to a recently (1/2019) reported bug
in nvidia driver compilation.

[Bug 1815808] Re: Thunderbolt Ethernet high-traffic exception

2019-02-13 Thread Anthony Wong
This bug looks like similar to previous bugs such as bug 1729674, bug
1785780 and bug 1792574.

Gene, can you try running `sudo ethtool --offload rx
off` and see if you can reproduce the issue? If so, could you attach the
output from 'lsusb -v'? Perhaps we can build a kernel for you to test.

[Bug 1815857] Re: linux-firmware is missing ctefx-sbz.bin for snd_hda_codec_ca0132

2019-02-13 Thread Ben A
I just noticed that the source code also calls for a "ctefx-r3di.bin"
that's needed for a "Recon3Di" (apparently a Dell proprietary variant?)
and the -sbz file was renamed "ctefx-desktop.bin" in 4.20.

[Bug 1803600] Re: Elantech - Touchpad not working after upgrading to 18.10 from 18.04

2019-02-13 Thread Brian Moyles
I'm using a Thinkpad T480s and while my Elantech touchpad was mostly
functional upon moving to 18.10 two-finger right-click and three-finger
middle-click stopped working. `libinput list-devices` showed 'none' for
a couple of features like 'Click methods.'

The same fixes above worked for me (both the kernel command line as well
as the sysfs protocol tweak).

[Bug 1815854] [NEW] Hugin (et al.) vertically squeezes my long panorama

2019-02-13 Thread Scott Cowles Jacobs
Public bug reported:

I have a long horizontal panorama (16 photos), that I took with a
tripod.

I opened the images, and told Hugin to align them

I used the Move/Drag tab to slightly rotate the image to be more
horizontal.

I used the Crop tab to approximately match the top/bottom/right/left
edges (the pictures being so little, it is almost impossible to see
whether I am enclosing any areas outside the image - but I can fix that
in GIMP with cropping or Heal Selection later).

I tell Hugin to Create Panorama.

As it is printing its output to the progress window, I suddenly notice
that the bounding box of the crop is extending at least 100% below the
line where I had set it.

When I looked at the image, there was a large area of black below the
image,

My images are 4000 wide by 3000 tall. Taken on a tripod, I would expect the
height of the resultant panorama to be somewhere around 3000.
Indeed, in GIMP, the total height of the image is 3013 (even closer to 3000
than I expected). However, that includes the area of black at the bottom. The
actual height of the image is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1700. Thus
Hugin has reduced the height of my image to about half.
The image itself does not appear to be flattened, and it appears to be
complete, so I suppose that it also has been reduced the same amount
horizontally. 16 images times 4000 pixels means that the upper bounds for the
width would be 64000 pixels, and the actual width is 3.
If we assume that I overlapped by an average of 25%, I would expect it to be
about 48000.
I am sure I did not overlap by over 50% (3/64000 = ~.47).
"Downscale final pano" 100 "percent of max. width"

I have tried to find out where the log files for the stitching are, but have
been unable to do so so far. The clipboard only shows the alignment log.
Perhaps there are command-line options to enblend/enfuse that will let me
direct the log output to a file of my choosing, but a quick check of the docs
(too quick, likely...) does not appear to show options for that. I don't know
if one can use re-direct (">") output on the "executable" or "default
arguments" lines in the preferences, but I can try that...
I could also perhaps start Hugin from the terminal, and capture output that
way...

If anyone has suggestions, either how to stop Hugin from shrinking my
panorama, or how to see the output to better debug the problem, please
let me know.

I don't know yet, if enblend/enfuse are messing with the image

[Bug 1815847] Re: 16.04 install would get "can't install busybox-initramfs" error with Chinese Language for install

2019-02-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1815847/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1815852] [NEW] squid FATAL: check failed: ios[0].iov_len == sizeof(data)#012 exception location: TypedMsgHdr.cc(70) sync#012

2019-02-13 Thread Haw Loeung
Public bug reported:

Hi,

It seems squid fails when configured with SMP. Steps I took to
reproduce:

  * spin up a fresh cosmic instance

  * add 'workers 5' to /etc/squid/squid.conf

  * sudo service squid restart

Logging shows this:

[Bug 1731938] Re: Invalid results with OpenMPI because of --enable-heterogeneous

2019-02-13 Thread Adrian Croucher
I am using Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic) and am trying to work around this bug
by rebuilding the source package for openmpi, according to these
instructions for Ubuntu 17.10:

https://github.com/firedrakeproject/firedrake/issues/1153

The recipe for rebuilding there is:

# Download openmpi source and install build dependencies
sudo apt-get -y build-dep openmpi
apt-get source openmpi
cd openmpi-*

# Fix compile flag that is broken on 17.10
sed -i '/enable-heterogeneous/d' debian/rules

# Build newly fixed package
debuild -uc -us -b

# Install the newly built package
sudo debi

However the build step is failing with the following error:

dh_auto_configure: ./configure --build=x86_64-linux-gnu --prefix=/usr
--includedir=\${prefix}/include --mandir=\${prefix}/share/man
--infodir=\${prefix}/share/info --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var

--includedir=\${prefix}/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/openmpi/include returned exit code

Should I be using a different process in Ubuntu 18.04 to rebuild this
package?

And has there been any progress in getting this bug fixed in the
repositories?

[Bug 1815775] Re: libnautilus-fileroller.so fails on .deb archives

2019-02-13 Thread Doug McMahon
I tracked it down, seems an interesting nautilus extension I was testing (3rd
party provided) somehow caused this even though it worked fine and there were
no apparent bad effects other than this.
(- a mediainfo extension exposed thru properties menu.

The journalctl -f message at point of 'hang' was
g_file_resolve_relative_path: assertion 'relative_path != NULL' failed

So marking invalid, sorry about that..

option as:
1. Create new KVM VM with BIOS
2. Boot Ubuntu 16.04.5 server ISO to begin install
3. Select "Chinese Language" in the first screen (grub menu)
4. Continue as normal install process
5. After partition was finished, it would show "can't install

[Bug 1815837] Re: Lubuntu daily image now includes gnome-shell

2019-02-13 Thread Chris Guiver
QA-TEST of Lubuntu 19.04 (live) -- following are copy/pasted from my QA-
test notes (part anyway)

booted on my d960 (my main system) & it's blue background (both
displays) with activities top left, clock middle of top panel & right
looks like gnome.

ctrl+alt+T to open term & it reports DE is GNOME 3,30.2

I noted a bug-report on ML earlier today from Jeremy.Bicha so will use
that lp.bug.report.

My intention was to test looking for issues on dual-screens today I've
reported earlier, but can't do that given this. I didn't notice this
problem on yesterday's QA-tests (though different boxes) so I believe
this issue is NEW.

[Bug 1815839] [NEW] System detected an application problem at startup

2019-02-13 Thread Edson José dos Santos
Public bug reported:

Hello guys

System detected an application problem at startup, but WHAT? Should not
the system report?

By clicking on "report problem" we do not see generate a report and we
do not know if the supposed error message was actually sent.

Attached is the image of the error message when the system has already
started.

Another thing:

Due to the lack of an option to place an application shortcut on the
desktop, it is not possible to send bug reports through the "ubuntu-bug
-w" of the application in question.

This command asks you to close a window then click on the application
that is supposed to be in error, but it happens that clicking on the
application in question suggests something other than the marked
application. Attached is the image of the event.

I see that the icon marked for upload was the gnome-control-center and
not the plank as seen in the attached images.

imagem do ocorrido.

Vejo que o ícone marcado para envio foi o gnome-control-center e não o
plank conforme pode ser visto nas imagens em anexo.

Re: [Bug 1815808] Re: Thunderbolt Ethernet high-traffic exception

2019-02-13 Thread Gene Olson
Not a duplicate. The previous bug was a problem with the display which
first appeared in linux -44, which was duplicated and confirmed fixed in
-45. This is a new problem caused by excessive Ethernet traffic. This is
a different problem that existed in -43 and still remains in -45. It
should not be marked as a duplicate.

These two bugs manifest on the same hardware, but they are different
bugs.

[Bug 1679327] Re: Missing dep8 tests

2019-02-13 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Joshua, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libpam-mount into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libpam-
mount/2.16-5ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-cosmic to verification-done-cosmic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Changed in: libpam-mount (Ubuntu Cosmic)
   Status: Triaged => Fix Committed

[Bug 1815741] Re: Probable regression after rssh security update

2019-02-13 Thread Iyyappa Murugandi
Sorry ignore the previous comment. It was meant for the rssh mailing
list.

Anyways, libssh2 send scp request as "scp -pf ". But rssh has
added new validation function which expects the commands to be specified
as "-p -f" instead of "-pf". Since it is a regression, I have requested
rssh maintainer to fix the issue and provide the patch.

For the future, libssh2 should send those options individually than
combined as preferred by rssh.

[Bug 1815775] Re: libnautilus-fileroller.so fails on .deb archives

2019-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, the 'extract here' option is directly
handled by nautilus which uses libarchive, the bug doesn't seem to
happen here on a random .deb tested. Could you share one that trigger
the problem for you? (does it still happen after a nautilus restart? do
you have any error in your journalctl log?)

[Bug 1812474] Re: /usr/lib/evolution/evolution-addressbook-factory regularly takes 100% CPU and 100% RAM for a while, making all the system unresponsive

2019-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Deleting seems only required if the migration fail. We are going to
update ews, maybe you can keep your system is the buggy state and test
if that update resolves the problem for you?
