[Bug 1818647] Please test proposed package

2019-03-08 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Matthias, or anyone else affected,

Accepted maven-resolver into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maven-
resolver/1.3.1-1~18.04 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1767648] Re: Top bar and shell dialogs are not displayed properly when zoom is enabled

2019-03-08 Thread Christopher Millsap
Thanks. I did install the .debs and now the fix is working for me. I
will note that after installing the .debs and rebooting my machine, the
GUI would not come up. This was resolved by reinstalling the desktop
from the CLI. In any event, the fix is working and I appreciate the
help. If you need any information from me, please let me know.

[Bug 1813071] Re: virtualbox 5.2.24-dfsg-4build1 ADT test failure with linux 5.0.0-1.2

2019-03-08 Thread Seth Forshee
I mistakenly attached the patch based on the tip of the upstream
virtualbox repo rather than one based on the 6.0.4-dfsg package source.
It applied okay, but with fuzz, so here's a version which applies
cleanly to the package source.

[Bug 1813071] Re: virtualbox 5.2.24-dfsg-4build1 ADT test failure with linux 5.0.0-1.2

2019-03-08 Thread Seth Forshee
Attaching a patch to fix vboxvideo with 5.0. Tested both vboxvideo and
vboxsf with this patch and the fix from comment #10 applied. Shared
folders worked. vboxvideo builds and loads fine but couldn't really
determine how to test it -- I'm unable to change the resolution with a
standard Ubuntu 19.04 desktop install with any version of the vboxvideo
driver I tried.

[Bug 1804554] Re: 18.10: lubuntu sddm crashes with openbox session

2019-03-08 Thread Dan Simmons
I can also confirm that this happens on both an 18.10 live system and an
installed system on physical hardware. I also tested a 19.04 installed system
on physical hardware and it too was affected. My 18.10 install on KVM was not
affected. The openbox session started as I would expect, a black background and
the right click menu performed as I would expect.
I did find that on the installs that did not paint the screen correctly
starting compton from the right-click menu caused the screen to begin to
refresh properly.

Hello Matthias, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ant-contrib into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ant-
contrib/1.0~b3+svn177-10~18.04 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** No longer affects: ant-contrib (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: clojure-maven-plugin (Ubuntu Bionic)
   Status: New => Fix Committed

2019-03-08 Thread id prism
I had to do a little more than this and held several packages to downgraded
versions due to dependencies. :(
#sudo apt-mark showhold
dkms
grub-common
grub-efi-amd64-bin
grub2-common
shim
shim-signed

I hope this can be resolved soon so I can un-hold these.

[Bug 1819241] [NEW] arduino package is outdated

2019-03-08 Thread Charlie Stott
Public bug reported:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Release:18.04

$ apt-cache policy arduino
arduino:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 2:1.0.5+dfsg2-4.1
  Version table:
 2:1.0.5+dfsg2-4.1 500
500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages
500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I expected to be able to use the package in a familiar way without
having to update all the libraries and boards manually.

The package installed from the repo does not work with the installed
java and throws an exception.

java.lang.NullPointerException thrown while loading
gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver

While this can be worked around by installing Oracle Java 8, arduino
still cannot build projects made with later versions, due to missing
libraries and boards.

The latest version of arduino is tested and runs well on 18.xx

Is this package being maintained or does it need a new owner or
collaborator?

[Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

2019-03-08 Thread Ravind K
@Alberto I'm afraid I have to add to the pile of users reporting issues
here. Kernel 4.20.14 with 418.43 drivers. Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, on an X1
Extreme.

Using both GDM3 and lightdm, "prime-switch intel" doesn't seem to power
off the nvidia GPU. power seems to go between 25-35W on battery. Using
powertop to set the Nvidia GPU to `Good` doesn't seem to help (100%
usage in Device stats).

Attached are gpu-manager.log and gpu-manager-switch.log (while in prime-
select intel mode). I'm not using bbswitch. I've rebooted a few times
while in intel mode to see if that would take. No die.

[Bug 1815665] Re: New upstream microreleases 9.5.16, 10.7 and 11.2

$ debdiff postgresql-10_10.*dsc | filterdiff -x '**/doc/**' -x '**/*.po' -x
'**/src/test/**' -x '**/*.m4' | wc -l

$

That's rather substantial, and a bit frightening for an MRE without any
further references to upstream testing. Why is this going via
-proposed, vs the security team's public security-proposed ppa?

[Bug 1804554] Re: 18.10: lubuntu sddm crashes with openbox session

Also, to be clear, it seems the problem isn't that merely selecting the
Openbox session causes a problem. The problem begins when starting to
log in. You end up in the Openbox session, but the SDDM screen isn't
repainted and there's all sorts of weird graphics behavior.

[Bug 1804554] Re: 18.10: lubuntu sddm crashes with openbox session

2019-03-08 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Well, it's confirmed, it seems. The problem is not entirely clear. It is
still bizarre it's not happening in a VM.

Anyways, Lubuntu's goal is certainly not to support a pure Openbox
session but we can't remove the session without affecting others who
might be running pure Openbox systems so it's just there. That said,
this will certainly have a very low priority.

[Bug 1804554] Re: 18.10: lubuntu sddm crashes with openbox session

2019-03-08 Thread Chris Guiver
Logged into my dx6120 (x86) qa-test machine

My machine would NOT be considered clean (I'd re-used my 18.10 lubuntu
installs, this was I believe a xubuntu qa-test with lubuntu-desktop
added to it).

On login (details entered) I got a system.program.problem.detected
question and it appeared to freeze. I just waited

Those mouse responded, eventually I right-clicked and noticed an
openbox-dialog appear. I clicked the background expecting it to
disappear alas no (why you can see multiple menu options from right
clicks visible). I tried a menu option (terminal-emulator) which then
opened correctly. I dragged it down to where I normally have it (you can
see this easily).

To me it just appeared as if the screen background was not being updated
(except for mouse movements, or opened windows), which is why `sddm`
wasn't responding (it had moved to an openbox session), so clicks of
change-session (top left), or reboot, off icons (top right) were just
background and did nothing on left click. If I right-clicked there I'd
get the openbox menu appear drawn over the 'sddm' background.

(sorry my text disappeared in last comment)

Workaround:
sudo nano /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
...add
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "sna"
Option "TearFree""true"
Option "DRI" "3"
EndSection

Result: Still ok after several hours and tasks.

FWIW from a flatpak point of view this passes the relevant parts of the

[Bug 1776563] Re: Acer Aspire A315 IOAPIC failure on Ubuntu 18.04, kernel hangs, can't load, kernel freeze (AMD Ryzen 5/Radeon/Raven) / AMDGPU Hybrid crash

2019-03-08 Thread mprotic
Yes, I tried:

"text ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2 radeon.modeset=0
amdgpu.runpm=0"

"text ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2 clocksource=hpet
iommu=on amd_iommu=on amdgpu.dc=1"

"idle=nomwait iommu=pt amd_iommu=on rcu_nocbs=0-7 pcie-aspm=off
ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2 amdgpu.dc=1"

...

Tried 5.0 mainline kernel also, same result, suspend works, but graphics
is slow and bumps cpu on system monitor to 10-50% just for moving
windows in gnome, unlike pci=noacpi when cpu never goes anywhere near
10% for usual DE manipulations.

Also if run with ivrs_ioapic params, switcheroo service fails with
message "switcheroo-cont[3648]: switcheroo-control could not query
vga_switcheroo status: Operation not permitted". This might be
interaction with this secure boot bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/switcheroo-
control/+bug/1768988

BTW if I disable secure boot it doesn't boot at all with ivrs_ioapic
params set.

Thanks for the info!

I'll treat this as a mesa bug and since we are using your blacklist, we
should be safe to just ignore it from our side. I'll close our kernel
