Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, no change after installing v5.1-rc2: Still stuck in

Added kernel-bug-exists-upstream and marked confirmed.

[Bug 1819915] Re: s2disk freezes at saving image to disk (hibernation)

2019-03-24 Thread Matheus
With the recomended nvidia driver and low ram usage, the system
sucessfully hibernates, but then fails to resume and I get the login
screen instead. With high ram usage it hangs trying to save the image to
disk. That's a new behaviour to me.

No, I am 100% sure it worked with kernel 4.15.0-42 and with the nvidia
proprietary driver nvidia-415 before the version .27

Also always worked fine without any nvidia driver, specially for the
upstream kernel. I test this since more than one year...

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v5.1-rc2 kernel [0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed”, and attach dmesg.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1814838] Re: xpdf

2019-03-24 Thread C. Jeffery Small
There is now a 4.01.01 version. I have found that the pre-compiled
versions on the XpdfReader.com site do not properly support printing to
local printers, but a custom compiled version under Xubuntu 18.10 with
system libraries does work. Please check that cups printers are
displayed on the print dialog before packaging.

Regards.

[Bug 1821552] Re: Ubuntu 19.04 Desktop:mouseover preview of option in firefox and mozilla not legible

2019-03-24 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1821552/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1819915] Re: s2disk freezes at saving image to disk (hibernation)

2019-03-24 Thread Matheus
I don't think that's the issue. The nvidia problem I was used to is
being unable to resume. I also tested with the nvidia drivers disabled
and this issue still persists. Something I noticed is that I was not on
the recommended version of nvidia drivers which is 415 and I just
changed that now upgrading to 418. Still exactly the same issue.

Tested with various DE's and even out DE's running. Do you have any
other guess? Is there a better way to find out what's wrong? To see
dmesg while it is trying to hibernate maybe?

You're showing me the MSR output for erratum 1033 but your CPU is
not affected.

> Has your patch been applied to kernel yet?

No it hasn't - I'm still waiting for someone to test it and confirm that
it fixes the issue on their boxes. And by issue I don't mean erratum
1033 - that is a red herring anyway - but the lockups people are
reporting on some broken BIOSes.

Hi Boris, on my laptop with its latest BIOS I get:

This is on:

cpu family : 23

microcode : 0x8101007

attachment-495-0.html

Yep still get hard lock if I don't add both missing IVRS table data for
0:00.2 and 0:14.0 . But, I no longer require i8042.nopnp to get touchpad
working, but it does complain about an AUX port being disabled and if it's
incorrect it says to use i8042.nopnp. tested with Git
freedesktop.org/~agd5f/linux amd-staging-drm-next.

[Bug 1757068] Re: Night light brakes when screen dims

2019-03-24 Thread Stéphane Guillou
Phew, thankfully every so often I was able to access the command line
with Ctrl + Alt + F2 without it flashing back to the boot messages
(maybe once every twenty times) and then removed the flag from the
.desktop file. Took me a couple of hours as it was really erratic
behaviour. (The recovery mode didn't help either, same flashing between
bootup commands and black screen.)

I won't try that flag again! Any other way I can provide a useful log?

[Bug 1792045] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 external USB hard drive performance 1/10th of 16.04

after my last response I had a series of bad life events one after
another for a few months that kept me away.

I'm happy to report that this no longer seems like an issue for me in

[Bug 1621386] Re: [MIR] libsodium

2019-03-24 Thread Alex Murray
I reviewed libsodium version 1.0.8-5 as checked into xenial, looking for
any deviations from Seth's original review since this is a different
version.

- No CVE history in our database
- libsodium provides a programmer- and packager-friendly library around
the NaCl family of cryptography APIs.
- Depends: debhelper, pkg-config, dh-autoreconf
- Does not itself do networking
- Extensive cryptopgrahy
- Does not daemonize
- No pre/post inst/rm
- No init scripts
- No dbus services
- No setuid files
- No binaries in the PATH
- No sudo fragments
- No udev rules
- A test suite is run during the build
- No cron jobs
- Clean build logs

- No subprocesses spawned
- Memory management is very careful.
- Does not itself do file IO beyond /dev/random or /dev/urandom
- No logging
- No environment variable use
- No privileged functions
- No networking
- No privileged portions of code
- No temp files
- No WebKit
- No PolKit
- Extensive cppcheck warnings; manual inspection of randomly selected
issues suggests failings in cppcheck (doesn't understand uint128_t and
assumes it is 32-bits wide so falsely flags bit shifts of 32-bits or
  larger of this as errors)

Security team ACK for promoting libsodium to main for Xenial / Trusty.

[Bug 1821508] Re: there is a lagging while i am accessing the software or browing

2019-03-24 Thread Alex Murray
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1364578] Re: Geeqie does not render the directory list and file list windows upon opening a directory with a large number of image files in it.

2019-03-24 Thread Boris Gjenero
Using Geeqie 1:1.4+git20180820-1 in Ubuntu 18.10, I see that it does
render the directory listing window. The problem is that the window
takes a long time to render. During that time I still see a photo and
can go to the next photo via the space bar, but the image overlay with
the histogram and other information is messed up, with the part over the
black bar outside the photo not drawn properly.

Could that be related? I can't think of anything else fancy I did, and

3.0 specification (https://i.stack.imgur.com/YwsX3.png).

[Bug 159356] Re: When DMA is disabled system freeze on high memory usage

2019-03-24 Thread Dima
So as a conclusion for my old 2Gb laptop, I've set zram to twice of
amount of physical RAM (/usr/bin/init-zram-swapping), and have added
this parameters to /etc/sysctl.d/99-sysctl.conf:

vm.min_free_kbytes=128000
vm.overcommit_memory=2
vm.overcommit_ratio=90

And seems it work for me. And I have to say that I don't have physical
swap and have /tmp and /var/tmp mounted to ram disk.
