[Bug 1826312] [NEW] Docky freezes up when running a snap application; does not allow pinning to dock; does not show as running application

2019-04-24 Thread Paul Tichy
Public bug reported:

When running a snap application (for example the preinstalled mahjong
game), docky does not show the application as running, which means the
application can't be pinned to the dock, and with very few exceptions,
freezes. Forcing a quit and restarting (or a reboot) gets docky running
again, but does not resolve the issue. Running using Ubuntu 19.04 with
Unity desktop.

[Bug 1808710] Re: !xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost error with GTK2 applications

2019-04-24 Thread Alex Fedorov
Unfortunately, setting LIBGL_DRI3_DISABLE to true did not help to bypass
the bug.

On the other hand, the bug does not manifest itself if there is only one
active CPU core. The number of active CPU cores can be controlled by
'maxcpus' kernel parameter: add 'maxcpus=1' to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub, then run update-grub as
root.

[Bug 1646728] Re: Can't launch it when weatherUnderground selected

2019-04-24 Thread justin hickenbottom
I also have the exact same issue. I have been using my Weather
Underground api key for years and this problem just started happening in
March of 2019.

I checked the URL in the output of my terminal in my browser and the
json page said: "key not found".

According to Weather Underground at:
https://www.wunderground.com/weather/api/

"To improve our services and enhance our relationship with our users,
**we will no longer provide free weather API keys as part of our
program.** If you have been directed to download our Weather Underground
free API key by a third party provider, please contact your vendor for
resolution."

According to: https://apicommunity.wunderground.com/weatherapi/topics
/end-of-service-for-the-weather-underground-api

If you are currently operating a PWS and uploading data, you can get a
new API key for free. If you do not operate a PWS that uploads data,
then you have to pay for a new key and free keys are no longer available
to developers and users.

[Bug 1826311] [NEW] Cannot Login to Google with Advanced Protection Enabled

2019-04-24 Thread Kenneth Fechter
Public bug reported:

1) Open Online accounts and select google (From settings or during OS setup)
2) enter username and password.

What I expect: I get the prompt to plug-in my 2 factor hardware key
What actually happens: I get a prompt saying, "You can only use your Security
keys with Google Chrome"

Not sure if this is actually fixable, I know desktop firefox has hidden
settings to allow u2f, but not sure if that extends to the embedded browsers
(if gnome-online-accounts even uses an embedded firefox for its browser)

[Bug 1826300] Re: dpkg artifacts in Xenial netboot initrd.gz

2019-04-24 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1826300/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1773959] Re: High CPU usage by gnome-shell when only running gnome-terminal

2019-04-24 Thread Satya
I see same behaviour. recvmsg() with EAGAIN failures (lot!!). CPU
utilization is not very high for me. Like around 3% but constant usage.
I could see difference in battery life. Switched back to unity for now.

I see the status as "Fix released". Which ubuntu version has the fix?

Or is it possible to get the fix for 18.04 too (via gnome-shell
update?)?

2019-04-24 Thread Po-Hsu Lin

[Bug 1826300] [NEW] dpkg artifacts in Xenial netboot initrd.gz

2019-04-24 Thread klausfiend
Public bug reported:

I had to rebuild our rescue ramdisk (based on the vanilla upstream netboot
initrd.gz) and I noticed that our Jenkins job was now mysteriously failing
since updating to the Feb. 2019 update with this message:

cpio: ./var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend: Cannot open: Permission denied

Looks like that file got left behind in the initrd image. I checked the
others we have for U14 and U18, and the previous U16 one, and they don't
have a file by that name, so it looks like a one-off issue with the U16
version.

I verified that it's still present in the current upstream:

$ wget

$ md5sum initrd.gz

I was able to work around it in the build process by inserting "sudo rm -fv
./var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend" to explicitly remove it, if it's there, but
ideally, it probably shouldn't be.

Hard to say what this affects, since it doesn't noticeably alter the
functionality of netboot, but it might surprise some folks.

[Bug 1817978] Re: lubuntu 19.04 no onscreen keyboard found (x86_64 tablet - fcitx)

2019-04-24 Thread Chris Guiver
As a comparison and to look some more (plus help test debian), I
downloaded https://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/weekly-live-
builds/amd64/iso-hybrid/debian-live-testing-amd64-lxqt.iso [2019-04-22
06:17] and played with it last night. Today I'm playing again but with
yesterday's [19.10] Lubuntu live-daily running on the machine next to
it.

My results are the same; Lubuntu is no different to the Debian Buster
(weekly) live-ISO. On both I've got the virtual-keyboard to show on
panel, and on screen but I'm unable to make use of it (trying to enter
a command into Qterminal)

[Bug 1825447] Re: 19.04 packaging is from master (or wrong commit) and not ubuntu branch (breaks scroll events)

2019-04-24 Thread Treviño
** Description changed:

+ [ Impact ]
+
+ Scroll events aren't delivered to app-indicators

+ [ Test case ]

+
https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator/blob/master/indicator-test-tool/testTool.js

+ - Scroll events should be delivered
+
+ [ Regression potential ]
+
+ Scroll events over other shell actors aren't working (i.e. changing volume
with scroll)
+
+
+ ---
+
  It appears the code used in the 19.04 packaging of the appindicator is
  from master and not the tagged ubuntu-19.04 commit from the ubuntu
  branch. The master branch is not delivering scroll events, which stops
  my application (radiotray-ng) from being able to adjust its volume
  levels.

  I've swapped out the code under /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions
  /ubuntu-appindicat...@ubuntu.com/ with the ubuntu branch and scrolling
  on an indicator icon works again.

  I've filed an issue on github as well.

[Bug 1825513] Re: High CPU usage when large document open

2019-04-24 Thread Tim Hamilton
Hi Marcus, thanks for taking the time to look into this.

You're right, it doesn't seem like the lorem file I generated
consistently generates the bug, at least on Ubuntu 19.04 (the initial
bug was reported under 18.10). I'm away from home and don't have access
to 18.10 to test right now.

I do have another file that consistently spikes CPU that I can share for
testing purposes, though I'd rather not post on a public bug tracker. Is
there any way I can forward a copy to you?

[Bug 1825996] Re: Touchpad not working on Lenovo ThinkPad L480 after upgrade to 19.04

2019-04-24 Thread Hui Wang
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1825699 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1825699

According to the error of dmesg, this bug should be a duplicate of
#1825699 (about ThinkPad L580), if we can't fix it to make it have
reliable i2c transfer, we might add this touchpad to
i2c_blacklist_pnp_ids. But it is weird that we have a ThinkPad L480 in
the Beijing office, which doens't have any touchpad issues after
installing the ubuntu 19.04.

Need more investigation. I changed the bug title in order to let other
L480 users report the bug if they also have touchpad issues after
installing 19.04.

[Bug 1826294] [NEW] os-prober exits prematurely with "logger: socket /dev/log: Protocol wrong type for socket"

2019-04-24 Thread Dara Poon
Public bug reported:

Failure occurs on Ubuntu 16.04 with the apparmor-
profiles-2.10.95-0ubuntu2.10 package installed.

Running update-grub will run /usr/bin/os-prober, which spews about a
dozen of the following line to stderr:

logger: socket /dev/log: Protocol wrong type for socket

… but fails to report the existence of some installed operating systems
as expected.

Furthermore, /var/log/messages contains:

kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1556043066.679:11460):
apparmor="ALLOWED" operation="sendmsg" info="Failed name lookup -
disconnected path" error=-13 profile="syslog-ng" name="dev/log"
pid=28566 comm="logger" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=0
ouid=0

Here is a stripped-down skeleton of the /usr/bin/os-prober script, which
demonstrates the problem:

#!/bin/sh
set -e -x

newns () {
  [ "$OS_PROBER_NEWNS" ] || exec /usr/lib/os-prober/newns "$0" "$@"
}

log() {
  logger -t "$(basename "$0")" "$@"
}

debug() {
  log "debug: $@"
}

ls -l /dev/log
debug "Hello world"
newns "$@"

The expected behavior is that it should write "debug: os-prober-testcase
Hello world" to /var/log/messages twice. However, it only succeeds in
writing "Hello world" once. After the script respawns itself with
/usr/lib/os-prober/newns (which is like `unshare -m`), the second
attempt to write to /dev/log fails as described above.

Since the os-prober Bash script runs with the -e flag, any error, even
just a logging error, causes the script to terminate prematurely.
(Arguably, the log() function should call `logger -t "$(basename "$0")"
"$@" || :` so that logging failures aren't fatal.)

The fix, for me, is to edit /etc/apparmor.d/sbin.syslog-ng, and change

profile syslog-ng /{usr/,}sbin/syslog-ng flags=(complain) {\
  …
}

to

profile syslog-ng /{usr/,}sbin/syslog-ng
flags=(complain,attach_disconnected) {
  …
}

… then run `aa-complain sbin.syslog-ng` and `service syslog-ng restart`,
before running update-grub again. I assume that similar fixes would be
required for the other logging daemons.

[Bug 1826291] [NEW] Dark themes need a better Scroll Bar Hover Color

2019-04-24 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Public bug reported:

Hello, pluma fan here

In Ubuntu 19.04, using 4K monitors, the scroll bars are too narrow and
bit difficult to grab a hold of when I want to pull them down to about
3/4 of long document, for example.

I like to use pluma with dark themes, Oblivion specifically, and I'm
noticing that part of the difficulty I'm having, is the fact that the
color change of the scroll bar handle, upon hover, doesn't have enough
contrast for me to clearly see what I'm hovering upon.

This is not the case in the light color themes, but is the case in these 3
themes:
- Oblivion
- Solarized Dark
- Cobalt

Since the editor is dark, in these themes above, the hover color of the
scroll bar handle should be set to a light color instead of remaining
dark like it is in the light themes.

[Bug 1826290] [NEW] geoclue mozilla location api key rate limited

2019-04-24 Thread Junaid Rasheed
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 19.04

geoclue version: 0.12.99-4ubuntu2
geoclue2 version: 2.5.2-1ubuntu1

The key used by geoclue in ubuntu to access the mozilla location service
appears to be rate limited.

Here's the relevant lines in /etc/geoclue/geoclue.conf

# URL to the wifi geolocation service. The key can currenty be anything, just
# needs to be present but that is likely going to change in future.
url=https://location.services.mozilla.com/v1/geolocate?key=geoclue

The comment is wrong, using an invalid key gives a 400 error.

$ curl https://location.services.mozilla.com/v1/geolocate\?key=random_key
{"error":{"code":400,"message":"Missing or invalid API
key.","errors":[{"domain":"usageLimits","message":"Missing or invalid API
key.","reason":"keyInvalid"}]}}%

Using the current key gives a limit reached error

$ curl https://location.services.mozilla.com/v1/geolocate\?key=geoclue
{"error":{"code":403,"message":"You have exceeded your daily
limit.","errors":[{"domain":"usageLimits","message":"You have exceeded your
daily limit.","reason":"dailyLimitExceeded"}]}}%

Upstream ubuntu branch wasn't updated since we synced from debian, so

[Bug 1774728] Re: Installing youtube-dl on ubuntu minimal brings in far too many extraneous dependencies

2019-04-24 Thread Unit 193
Howdy,

You can try to use `apt install --no-install-recommends youtube-dl` to
solve the issue of too many packages being pulled in. As noted in a bug
in Debian[0], mpv/mplayer are recommended as one of them is needed in
order to obtain rtsp streams.

[Bug 1826159] Re: gsd-print-notifications assert failure: free(): invalid pointer

2019-04-24 Thread Jan Wester
I actually succeeded in getting this dump again. From the gnome settings
up in the right corner, choose Test print. The printout went to the
printer options and made a test print from the button in the left corner
of the windows. That crash appeared in /var/crash despite it looks like
everything works..This time I also got another crash at the same
time:

[Bug 1826274] [NEW] Headset keeps disconnecting after upgrade to Disco

2019-04-24 Thread Witold Krecicki
Public bug reported:

I'm using Bose QC35 headset and Dell XPS 9570 laptop. It was working
perfectly on Cosmic, after upgrade to Disco when headsed is switched to
HSP/HFP mode in pavucontrol I'm getting bursts of following messages in
dmesg:

Apr 24 23:27:28 daffy kernel: [53021.123542] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for
unknown connection handle 65534
Apr 24 23:27:28 daffy kernel: [53021.123551] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for
unknown connection handle 0
Apr 24 23:27:28 daffy kernel: [53021.143555] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for
unknown connection handle 63744
Apr 24 23:27:28 daffy kernel: [53021.153575] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for
unknown connection handle 1
Apr 24 23:27:28 daffy kernel: [53021.173563] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for
unknown connection handle 63744

Then, after at most a few minutes, after one of bursts like above,
pulseaudio reports:

Apr 24 23:27:28 daffy pulseaudio[2733]: W: [bluetooth] module-
bluez5-device.c: SCO packet received of unaligned size: 5 (the size
differs between runs)

And the headset is getting disconnected from pulseaudio - it's still
connected via Bluetooth, but it's status in pavucontrol switches to
'Disabled'.

** Affects: bluez (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
