[Bug 1800196] Re: spice-vdagent[1345]: Cannot access vdagent virtio channel /dev/virtio-ports/com.redhat.spice.0
I'm not a programmer/developer, but just a user. I can answer this question, however: "Could people having the issue describe exactly what they are doing to trigger it and what's the visible impact? Is that only a warning in the journal log?" In my case I was just doing my normal stuff, openoffice, stellaris, and chromium, when the system ground to a halt, the mouse became choppy, and after clicking on something (eg terminal) it would take minutes to open. I wanted to try 'top' in a terminal but the computer just hung. I had to reset. The 'important' errors just prior to the crash in the log: Cannot access vdagent virtio channel /dev/virtio-ports/com.redhat.spice.0 Unrecoverable failure in required component org.gnome.Shell.desktop I am running ubuntu 18.10 and it's been pretty reliable overall. This is a regular computer, not a virtual machine. [Bug 1771506] Fix merged to nova (master)
Reviewed: https://review.opendev.org/635533 Committed: https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/nova/commit/?id=1da71fa4ab1d7d0f580cd5cbc97f2dfd2e1c378a Submitter: Zuul Branch:master commit 1da71fa4ab1d7d0f580cd5cbc97f2dfd2e1c378a Author: Corey Bryant Date: Thu Feb 7 10:12:54 2019 -0500 xenapi/agent: Change openssl error handling Prior to this patch, if the openssl command returned a zero exit code and wrote details to stderr, nova would raise a RuntimeError exception. This patch changes the behavior to only raise a RuntimeError exception when openssl returns a non-zero exit code. Regardless of the exit code a warning will always be logged with stderr details if stderr is not None. Note that processutils.execute will now raise a processutils.ProcessExecutionError exception for any non-zero exit code since we are passing check_exit_code=True, which we convert to a Runtime error. Thanks to Dimitri John Ledkov and Eric Fried for helping with this patch. [Bug 1826691] [NEW] fwupd hangs after 19.04 upgrade from 18.10
Public bug reported: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 19.04 Release:19.04 Being a firmware updater, the machine is probably relevant - Dell 7730. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center $ apt policy fwupd fwupd: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.2.5-1ubuntu1 Version table: 1.2.5-1ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What you expected to happen I expected few/no issues after 19.04 upgrade. The fwupd process worked perfectly in 18.10. It's upgraded the firmware on my laptop twice since I installed 18.10. 4) What happened instead After upgrading from 18.10 to 19.04 I had an issues that when I tried to suspend my laptop using the same button press as previous, the laptop would be hot and screen flickering when I returned to reopen it. I thought there were power management issues in the upgrade, but I've traced it to fwupd not letting the PM suspend process complete (see dmesg below). I tried shutting down the fwupd daemon with systemctl but the command hangs forever. All of the fwupdmgr commands timeout. Thinking something might have broken in the upgrade, I tried uninstalling (purge) the fwupd package and reinstalling. Starting the process with systemctl hangs forever like stopping it. Trying to kill -9 the process does not work - in uninterruptible sleep (D). This crash is probably related. It happened a couple of ours before I tried to put it to sleep the last time before uninstalling fwupd. [Bug 1826688] [NEW] GNOME Shell has graphical issue in Applications menu
Public bug reported: After installing an update for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, GNOME's App Launcher screen faces graphical issues when scrolling. To reproduce this, simply open the Application menu and scroll in the paginated list. If the bug is present, the screen will fail to update completly; the animation wil play through, but the icons will remain in place or "chopped off," it seems the frame isn't completly refreshed? Unfortunately looks like extension's author decided not to implement any sorting/rearranging features: https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons/issues/98 ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons/issues #98 https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons/issues/98 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826056 Title: Desktop context: Keep aligned, Organize desktop by name missing in 19.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1826056/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1655398] Re: 1920x1080 screenshot hangs & fails on clipboard insert (GIMP)
I've been seeing this bug for many months (maybe years). After compiling from source and relaunching xfsettingsd, the bug appears to be fixed! I'll try it out over the next few days to make sure it's a reliable fix. Can you backport this one? I'm using xenial and manually applying the patch and building worked. If not maybe I'll try to see if I can figure out how to make a PPA for it. The way I've been reproducing is I have a keyboard shortcut to take section of the screen screenshots (drap the box) and have it copy to clipboard automatically. (xfce4-screenshooter -r -c). When doing this, if the boxed area was bigger than about...let's say 400x400, upon pasting it was freeze the program it's pasting into for 5ish seconds, and then not actually paste. This seemed intermittent, but most of the time it was an issue (very very occasionally, big screen sections would work). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1655398 Title: 1920x1080 screenshot hangs & fails on clipboard insert (GIMP) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-settings/+bug/1655398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1826684] [NEW] containerd is polling on a pselect ever 20, 000 nanoseconds causing rapid system wakeup events
Public bug reported: I was wondering why I was seeing lots of wakeup events on my idle system and tracked it down to containerd. Running eventstat for 1 sample over a 10 second interval one can observed that containerd is waking the system up nearly 10 times a second: sudo eventstat 10 1 Event/s PID%CPU PR NI Task Init Function 13.45 2554 0.0 0 0 Xorg it_real_fn 9.53 1539 0.0 0 0 containerd hrtimer_wakeup 8.23 8862 0.0 0 0 Timerhrtimer_wakeup stracing the process one can see rapid futex/pselect calls: futex(0x55fad4c61010, FUTEX_WAIT, 0, {tv_sec=60, tv_nsec=0}) = 0 pselect6(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {tv_sec=0, tv_nsec=2}, NULL) = 0 (Timeout) futex(0x55fad4c61010, FUTEX_WAIT, 0, {tv_sec=60, tv_nsec=0}) = 0 pselect6(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {tv_sec=0, tv_nsec=2}, NULL) = 0 (Timeout) futex(0x55fad4c61010, FUTEX_WAIT, 0, {tv_sec=60, tv_nsec=0}) = 0 pselect6(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {tv_sec=0, tv_nsec=2}, NULL) = 0 (Timeout) futex(0x55fad4c61010, FUTEX_WAIT, 0, {tv_sec=60, tv_nsec=0}) = 0 The pselect6 system call is basically being used as a high resolution delay of ~20,000 nanoseconds before polling a futex. This is causing the high amount of system wakeups that stop the CPU from going into a deep C sleep state and it's eating power. [Bug 1819242] Re: The touchpad doesn't work unless I move the mouse slowly.. Also I am unable to click and drag.
I am supposed to edit file "/sys/class/dmi/id/modalias" and then play with the configurations to adjust my touchpad. However. I am unable to edit the file modalias. I even used administrator rights on Nautilus to adjust it, however it still didn't let me edit the file. [Bug 1713615] Re: ttf-mscorefonts-installer fails because Redirection from https to http is forbidden
In APT, redirection from https to http is not supported for security reasons. Debian does not use APT's functionality for downloading in this package, but another thing that does follow such redirects, and hence does not fail. There's probably a way to fix this by changing the URL to something that works and does not do "failed mirror" redirects to http. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713615 Title: ttf-mscorefonts-installer fails because Redirection from https to http is forbidden To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/msttcorefonts/+bug/1713615/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 293311] Re: nautilus thumbnails files on a mounted NFS share
Please do not remove thumbnails from NFS mounted folders. I have 1.5TB of photos stored on a local NAS (local = same LAN) connected over a 1Gb/s ethernet connection. I access these through NFS and I am absolutely dependent on having thumbnails available for those images. With any modern local area network, wired or WiFi, access is plenty fast to allow thumbnails with only minimal delay compared to files on the same physical machine. I don't mind if an option is added to opt out of thumbnails over NFS, but if it is completely removed with no option, I will need to either abandon nautilus, which I don't want to do, or allow thumbnailing on ALL remote connections, which will be an absolute mess on slower connections such as Google Drive. Same would apply for SMB. NFS and SMB are used primarily on fast LANs 99% of the time. Please don't remove thumbnailing from NFS/SMB folders and put the 1% use case above the 99% use case. [Bug 1790595] Re: Line 6 POD HD500 driver fault
Sorry for late answer. Still no luck with driver even on bare metal. Warning "config 1 interface 1 altsetting 0 bulk endpoint 0x1 has invalid maxpacket 64" still present. Now this driver creates two audio interfaces. Try to play through both by pulseaudio and alsa, no system freezing like in previous times but, no sound playing through phones on hdpod, and no sound recorded on notebook. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1790595 Title: Line 6 POD HD500 driver fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1790595/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
