[Bug 1819413] Re: [ICL] S0ix Enabling

2019-05-05 Thread quanxian
** No longer affects: linux

** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: intel
   Status: New => Fix Committed

** Tags removed: intel-kernel-19.04
** Tags added: intel-kernel-19.10

** Description changed:

  Description:

S0ix-states represent the residency in the Intel® SoC idle standby power
states.
The S0ix states shut off part of the SoC when they are not in use. The S0ix
states are triggered when specific conditions within the SoC have been
achieved,
for example: certain components are in low power states. The SoC consumes the
least amount of power in the deepest (for example, S0i3) state.

S0ix is triggered by two paths:
  (1) by system PM, e.g "suspend-to-idle" triggered by pressing the power button
  on Android device or command manually triggered on any Linux based distros;

  (2) by runtime PM, i.e no system activities with display off.

S0ix should simply work in theory with trigger path (1) if we have the device
drivers ready. On GLK, we require the below PCI device drivers with system PM
support. ACPI device requirements are WIP.

-  I2C designware PCI driver
-  USB XHCI PCI ID
-  Intel trace Hub[NPK) PCI ID
-  SPI BXT PCI ID
-  SCSI UFS BXT PCI host ID
-  Graphics
-  Audio
-  PWM
-  HSUART
+  I2C designware PCI driver
+  USB XHCI PCI ID
+  Intel trace Hub[NPK) PCI ID
+  SPI BXT PCI ID
+  SCSI UFS BXT PCI host ID
+  Graphics
+  Audio
+  PWM
+  HSUART
   Security engine

S0ix with trigger path (2) require work as defined below.
 All the above device drivers need to support runtime PM (already defined in
the same LCK above)
 PCI root port to support runtime PM

Both paths will require intel_idle driver support for S0ix support.

[Bug 1827770] Re: When the browser is launched from a Snap app, the browser window is incorrectly classed as a window belonging to the Snap app rather than showing as its own application

2019-05-05 Thread Maciej Borzecki
I can't reproduce the behavior with Gnome shell (and Dash to dock
extention). What kid of desktop environment and dock application is
this?

Can you try the following:
- close the browser
- open the terminal
- run: xdg-open https://google.com

Is the browser window grouped with the terminal window now?

[Bug 1826746] Bug is not a security issue

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.

[Bug 1827309] Re: cant upgrade via terminal

2019-05-05 Thread Alex Murray
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1799213] Re: Gtk-CRITICAL gtk_widget_destroy: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

2019-05-05 Thread Moses Moore
As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash I added the ddebs
repositories

echo "deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs) main restricted universe
multiverse" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ddebs.list
echo -e "deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs)-updates main restricted
universe multiverse\ndeb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs)-proposed
main restricted universe multiverse" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ddebs.list
apt install ubuntu-dbgsym-keyring
apt update

Then for each of the packages you mentioned, I need to run "apt-cache
policy $name", write down the version number in "Installled" then "apt
install ${name}-dbgsym=${version}" for each one. (I hope I don't need
to do this for all 84 libraries linked by nm-applet.)

dpkg -S `which nm-applet`
apt install network-manager-gnome-dbgsym=1.8.20-1ubuntu1

ldd `which nm-applet` |egrep 'libglib|libgtk|network-manager'

dpkg -S /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0
apt-cache policy libgtk-3-0
apt install libgtk-3-0-dbgsym=3.24.8-1ubuntu1

dpkg -S /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0
apt-cache policy libglib2.0-0
apt install libglib2.0-0-dbgsym=2.60.0-1

Then following the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace
again. New backtrace is attached to this comment.

[Bug 225361] Re: .gvfs can't be stat'd by root causing backup tools to fail

2019-05-05 Thread ALinuxUser
Here is a possible solution.

My system - Mint 19.1 x64 Cinnamon - had no .gvfs directory in /run -
but it did have one in /home, causing the rclone backup tool to report
errors. I discovered (from here:
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/387162-permission-denied-on-
gvfs) that I could remove the .gvfs folder thusly:

sudo umount /home//.gvfs
sudo rm -rf /home//.gvfs

(That webpage lists a different method for removing the directory. That
other method involves iodes; and that other method did not work on my
system, but the one I gave above did.)

So far, gvfs seems to work without the .gvfs directory in /home. (That
seems strange, considering there is no such directory in /run either.)
Nor has the .gvfs folder been regenerated - at least not yet.

[Bug 1827824] [NEW] old plasma windows fade occasionally after opening new windows

2019-05-05 Thread Yatian Liu
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded to Kubuntu 19.04 with KDE Plasma 5.15.4 and Qt
version 5.12.2 from Kubuntu 18.10 using the system upgrade app. After
upgrading, when I open new windows, the old windows will occasionally
fade. Moreover, the pop-up menus (for example, the "Other bookmarks"
menu in Chromium) may also fade. The screenshots of faded windows and
menus are shown in the attachments. The old Kubuntu 18.10 does not have
this problem.

When I hover my mouse over any icon of an opened app in my icon-only
task manager for some time and then move my mouse away, the fading
effect disappears. Also, the fading effect when opening new windows
seems to be similar to the effect when I hover my mouse on icons in my
icon-only task manager. I guess this bug may be related to the preview
feature of the task manager.

[Bug 1826867] Re: Freeplane Freezes Immediately After Launching It

2019-05-05 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
When I ran freeplane from a terminal window, I noticed this tiny box pop up on
one of the three 4K monitors pop up:
https://i.imgur.com/TejMgt8.png

This screenshot probably looks big to you, but it is tiny on a 4K
monitor.

This box did not pop up on the same monitor that Freeplane was on.

So, what probably happened, is I did not notice it at all the day I
submitted this bug. I probably clicked on a window behind this small box
and never saw it after that.

A box like this ought to pop up in front of the freeplane window, not on
another monitor. A box like that ought to be way bigger too (on 4K
monitors).

[Bug 1827791] Re: Dell XPS 13 9380 - Screen and input freezes / hangs temporarily

2019-05-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Also, your Xorg log shows the mouse "BM30X mouse" repeatedly
disconnecting and reconnecting, which may cause the whole screen to
freeze briefly because it is in Xorg. Please try removing that mouse
from the machine and tell us if that fixes the bug.

Also, the attached kernel log shows ath10k (wifi driver) crashing a
couple of times. I'm not sure if that could lead to any shell freezes
though.

[Bug 1827823] [NEW] Text lags on input and displays incorrectly on Seek website on Firefox browser

2019-05-05 Thread James Ray
Public bug reported:

This is a video that demonstrates the problem:

After refreshing the page the problem did not continue to occur.

I just installed Ubuntu yesterday on a new high-end, custom-built
desktop, after having issues with using a couple of Manjaro desktop
environments. Just now, while typing in this field, there were a few
lags, but the text still displays correctly.

The Ubuntu login screen is tiled on all displays, not mirrored, making
it nearly impossible to login when using an external monitor if the
  laptop screen is not visible.

There appears to be no available control to alter the display settings
of the login screen. Prior to bionic, the controls followed the mouse
onto different displays so you could login by giving the mouse a swipe
to the right to get the controls to appear.
