[Bug 1828617] Re: Hosts randomly 'losing' disks, breaking ceph-osd service enumeration
Hi, Installed the packages from the above ppa, rebooted the host and 4 out of 7 osd's came up. The 3 that where missing from the `ceph osd tree` where not running the osd daemon as they lacked the symlinks to the db and the wal. Rebooted the server, and after the reboot other osd's (again 3 out of 7) failed to start due to missing symlinks. This time it where other osd's. So the issue is not fixed with the deb's in the ppa. [Bug 722201] Re: CTDB port is not aware of Ubuntu-specific NFS Settings
Robert, I'll verify your patch on comment #6, since the nfs-kernel-server: (k)inaddy@ctdbserver01:/lib/systemd$ systemctl list-dependencies nfs-kernel-server.service nfs-kernel-server.service ● ├─auth-rpcgss-module.service ● ├─nfs-config.service ● ├─nfs-idmapd.service ● ├─nfs-mountd.service ● ├─proc-fs-nfsd.mount ● ├─rpc-svcgssd.service ● ├─rpcbind.socket ● ├─system.slice ● └─network.target might be enough for guaranteeing rpc.statd to start/stop altogether with nfsd when CTDB starts/stops the services on the nodes. I have also to verify missing (or deactivated) environmental variables (NEED_GSSD or NEED_SVCGSSD, for example) brought by /etc/default/nfs-* and, nowadays, with systemd, read by script /usr/lib/systemd/scripts /nfs-utils_env.sh, generating an environment file in /run, executed by nfs-config.service as a "oneshot" service whenever nfs is restarted (will verify if any of those would change by CTDB, for example). This will cover your initial comment: " ... ctdb is able to control NFS daemons, but it never looks for /etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server for startup or /etc/default/nfs-kernel- server for settings ... ". I'll have to think of something for the RPC ports :\. You said in comment #10 that this: NFS_HOSTNAME="servername" RQUOTAD_PORT=598 LOCKD_UDPPORT=599 LOCKD_TCPPORT=599 STATD_PORT=595 STATD_OUTGOING_PORT=596 STATD_HOSTNAME="$NFS_HOSTNAME" needed to be included in /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server, possibly because CTDB needs those environment variables (apart from the "same ports on all nodes need"). If CTDB manipulates systemctl to start/stop the services, then I would have to make sure those are parsed by the nfs-config.service logic (nfs-config -> nfs-utils_env.sh -> /run/sysconfig/nfs-utils environment file). That would work for needed NFS_HOSTNAME environment variable.. and, for the ports, I could create systemd overrides to set all RPC services to the same port, or provide those commented and give the user a message to comment them out (since touching that during package installation does not seem appropriate to me). We have 2 other things: /etc/modprobe.d/lockd.conf -> that is most likely a no-go, like the LOCKD_UDPPORT=599 approach. I mean, at least not automatically (possibly commented, telling user to make sure its all commented out in all CTDB nodes). And: Disabling NFSv4.. (and rpc.idmapd), which could follow the same thing... providing information to final user about not having it enabled (specially because installing CTDB would require to have all nfs-* services disabled anyway, so CTDB postinst can't definitely activate systemd services by default, for example). That is all I can think of to check/implement in Ubuntu Eoan. Please, let me know if there is anything else you can think of. I'm testing all this in the following scenario: 2 gluster servers providing 1 volume to 3 ctdb servers in 1 network, and those 3 ctdb servers providing a NFS with LVS network IP to 2 NFS clients. It is very likely that CTDB will need a similar work to make sure samba, for example, is supported, out-of-the-box, like what we are doing here, by Ubuntu CTDB package. I'll get back to you soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/722201 Title: CTDB port is not aware of Ubuntu-specific NFS Settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ctdb/+bug/722201/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for all that. The overdrawing of letters/pixels suggests a signal or mode problem that you would probably only encounter with an analog connection like VGA. [Bug 1590799] Re: nfs-kernel-server does not start because of dependency failure
Hello, Long time I don't follow this thread, sorry for that. So, as I could see Stefan had issues with nfsd because of missing kernel module, and that explains why he had the nfs-kernel-server start problems (dependency nfsd could not run, unrelated to the original race I reported upstream and backported as SRU for this). On the other hand, Maarten, it was unclear to me if you had to apply the fix (https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/PwQfftj38j/) "by hand" because you could not upgrade the system, and when you finally could it overwrote what you had changed, so you came up with a workaround for not having it overwritten anymore. If that is correct, this is a good case for you but not for a SRU. If not, please let me know. So, with those 2 cases, I'm still not considering this as "a new issue" unless someone can point me a dependency issue caused by a bad service dependency ordering (like the original issue was about). I revisited this particular problem today. I ran a series of restart tests across westus2 and westus, utilizing the same instance and series, but with the latest kernel in -proposed. I was unable to reproduce this problem as originally reported in the bug. I also have not seen any of our SRU testing stall due to problems of this nature, where the instance fails to respond after a restart. I think it's safe to say we can close this bug and mark it resolved for the time being. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822133 Title: Azure Instance never recovered during series of instance reboots. [Bug 1830986] [NEW] nodejs-dev and php7.2-dev have conflicting requirements in Bionic
Public bug reported: Because of https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/nodejs/+bug/1779863, the nodejs-dev package now depends on libssl1.0-dev. The php7.2-dev package depends on libssl-dev, but libssl1.0-dev conflicts with libssl-dev. This makes it impossible to have nodejs-dev (or anything that depends on it, such as npm) and php7.2-dev installed at the same time, which is something that web developers might want to do pretty often (for example, I just ran into this issue while trying to set up a new laptop, running Bionic, for web development). To reproduce: `sudo apt install npm php7.2-dev` Package versions I observed this in: npm 3.5.2-0ubuntu4, which depends on node-gyp 3.6.2-1ubuntu1, which depends on nodejs-dev 8.10.0~dfsg-2ubuntu0.4, whose LibSSL dependency conflicts with php7.2-dev 7.2.17-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 ** Affects: nodejs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1830986 Title: nodejs-dev and php7.2-dev have conflicting requirements in Bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nodejs/+bug/1830986/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1830984] [NEW] apparmor fs does not reflect 4.4 backport of mmap perms change
Public bug reported: The upstream commit 9f834ec18defc369d73ccf9e87a2790bfa05bf46 was backported to the 4.4.x xenial kernel series to address CVE-2019-11190. This isn't a problem in distros before Bionic, since up until Artful, the X server was patched to add "nvidia" to the X server's own auto- detected driver list, so the OutputClass-based matching was redundant. However, if a system running Bionic or newer has an NVIDIA driver package from Artful or earlier installed, the location of this file is problematic, as the NVIDIA driver can no longer be autoconfigured from either the X server's internal driver list nor the OutputClass-based matching. Normally, a user wouldn't end up with an old-style driver package on a newer distro, but one possible scenario which could lead to this condition is if an NVIDIA driver package is installed via an external repository (for example, the NVIDIA CUDA repositories) on an Ubuntu version that uses the older packaging format, then the system is upgraded to a newer version that uses the newer packaging format. Third party repositories are disabled as part of the do-release-upgrade process, and the NVIDIA driver package does not get updated. The packages continue to function, but the placement of the nvidia-drm- outputclass.conf file prevents X from selecting the NVIDIA X driver without explicit configuration. I have confirmed that moving this file one level up, so that its parent directory is /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d allows the OutputClass-based matching to function as expected. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-384 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1830975 Title: Old style NVIDIA package installs configuration snippet to an unusual location To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-384/+bug/1830975/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1830502] Re: apparmor fails to start with no parser errors
@Jamie yes this was generated by snapd, the original snapcraft.yaml is attached. And also yes I fully understand this was an atypical usage of layouts, I was experimenting with using layouts to make it seem to a snap application that an additional package was installed in the base snap. I generated the yaml section using a bit of code that I seem to have lost now, but the gist of it was to find all files in a given deb package (python2.7 in this case) and create a layout symlink for every file to point to the real files underneath $SNAP. I actually remember abandoning this originally specifically because apparmor crashed when attempting to install the snap and forgot to file a bug here, so here's the bug finally... ** Attachment added: "snapcraft.yaml" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1830502/+attachment/5267473/+files/snapcraft.yaml -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1830502 Title: apparmor fails to start with no parser errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1830502/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1830815] Re: Hi1620 driver updates from upstream 5.2 merge window
** Description changed: [Impact] - TBD + Sync up the hns drivers with the 5.2 merge window. + + (Cut & paste from bug 1819535) + Drivers for the HiSilicon Hi1620 SoC continue to be under active development, including both hardware enablement and bug fix patches. With the amount of flux involved, identifying and cherry-picking individual patches would be more error prone then re-syncing with current upstream. [Test Case] - TBD + Validated by testing on the Hi1620-based D06 systems. These changes were staged in a PPA kernel that underwent testing w/ the Ubuntu certification test suite. In addition, perftest was used to verify RDMA functionality and iperf was used to verify networking performance. - [Fix] - TBD [Regression Risk] - TBD + Changes are restricted to drivers specific to the Hi1620 SoC, and tested on the same. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1830815 Title: Hi1620 driver updates from upstream 5.2 merge window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1830815/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1828617] Re: Hosts randomly 'losing' disks, breaking ceph-osd service enumeration
I didn't recreate this but I did get a deployment on serverstack with bluestore WAL and DB devices. That's done with: 1) juju deploy --series bionic --num-units 1 --constraints mem=2G --config expected-osd-count=1 --config monitor-count=1 cs:ceph-mon ceph- mon 2) juju deploy --series bionic --num-units 1 --constraints mem=2G --storage osd-devices=cinder,10G --storage bluestore-wal=cinder,1G --storage bluestore-db=cinder,1G cs:ceph-osd ceph-osd 3) juju add-relation ceph-osd ceph-mon James Page mentioned taking a look at the systemd bits. ceph-osd systemd unit - /lib/systemd/system/ceph-osd@.service calls: ExecStartPre=/usr/lib/ceph/ceph-osd-prestart.sh --cluster ${CLUSTER} --id %i Where /usr/lib/ceph/ceph-osd-prestart.sh has some logic that exits with an error code when certain things aren't ready. I think we might be able to add something in there. For example it currently has: data="/var/lib/ceph/osd/${cluster:-ceph}-$id" if [ -L "$journal" -a ! -e "$journal" ]; then udevadm settle --timeout=5 || : if [ -L "$journal" -a ! -e "$journal" ]; then echo "ceph-osd(${cluster:-ceph}-$id): journal not present, not starting yet." 1>&2 exit 0 fi fi The 'udevadm settle' watches the udev event queue and exists if all current events are handled or if it's been 5 seconds. Perhaps we can do something similar for this issue. Here's what I see in /var/log/ceph/ceph-osd.0.log during a system reboot: - 2019-05-29 19:04:25.800237 7fa6940d1700 1 freelist shutdown ... 2019-05-29 19:04:25.800548 7fa6940d1700 1 bdev(0x557eca7a1680 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.wal) close 2019-05-29 19:04:26.079227 7fa6940d1700 1 bdev(0x557eca7a1200 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.db) close 2019-05-29 19:04:26.266085 7fa6940d1700 1 bdev(0x557eca7a1440 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block) close 2019-05-29 19:04:26.474086 7fa6940d1700 1 bdev(0x557eca7a0fc0 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block) close ... 2019-05-29 19:04:53.601570 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev create path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.db type kernel 2019-05-29 19:04:53.601581 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev(0x561e50583200 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.db) open path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.db 2019-05-29 19:04:53.601855 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev(0x561e50583200 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.db) open size 1073741824 (0x4000, 1GiB) block_size 4096 (4KiB) rotational 2019-05-29 19:04:53.601867 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bluefs add_block_device bdev 1 path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.db size 1GiB 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602131 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev create path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block type kernel 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602143 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev(0x561e50583440 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block) open path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602464 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev(0x561e50583440 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block) open size 10733223936 (0x27fc0, 10.0GiB) block_size 4096 (4KiB) rotational 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602480 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bluefs add_block_device bdev 2 path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block size 10.0GiB 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602499 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev create path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.wal type kernel 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602502 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev(0x561e50583680 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.wal) open path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.wal 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602709 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bdev(0x561e50583680 /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.wal) open size 100663296 (0x600, 96MiB) block_size 4096 (4KiB) rotational 2019-05-29 19:04:53.602717 7fdd2ec17e40 1 bluefs add_block_device bdev 0 path /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0/block.wal size 96MiB ... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1828617 Title: Hosts randomly 'losing' disks, breaking ceph-osd service enumeration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceph/+bug/1828617/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
