[Bug 1370953] Re: layout switch is delayed

2019-06-08 Thread Alexey
Hello!

The problem is still here. In 17.10, 18.04, 18.10, 19.04 releases...

I found out that all standard layout switches are with that stupid delay.
But somehow the alternative switching on LShift+RShift works instantly!

I spent few hours to find the place where this action is stored to move
it to standard keybindings like Shfit+Alt, but failed.

May be someone can suggest the way how to find action on key binding in
Ubuntu to do this?

So FF 65/66/67/+ could potentially be built for trusty with functional
linkage to Flash.

2019-06-08 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

2019-06-08 Thread Bo-Yin Yang
Hello Marcus,

I am perplexed by the pattern I am getting. On the attached document
there is a gray shaded area in item 2. When I open the document, I
can't insert Chinese characters on the paragraph at the shaded point.
But I could do it at other places. Could you check to see if the same
pattern repeats?

[Bug 1690485] Re: openssh-server SIGSYS with 'UsePrivilegeSeparation sandbox'

2019-06-08 Thread Luke A. Perkins
See also Ticket #1831765 and #1832110 regarding the path of the
privilege separation directory (aka: /run/sshd).

This path is hard-coded into sshd and there is no means of changing its
location. I have found that if the directory is missing, all ssh
communication unceremoniously stops (iff UsePrivilegeSeparation yes).
The original OpenSSH 7.6p1 assigns the privilege separation directory to
"/var/empty" (see man sshd at openssh.com). When Ubuntu changed to
systemd from Upstart, the privilege separation directory was changed
from "/var/empty" to "/run/sshd". This is also supported by reviewing
the value of /lib/systemd/system/ssh.service and look at the
RuntimeDirectory=sshd.

My work-around is to create a service that does nothing other than
create the "/run/sshd" directory and define the
RuntimeDirectory=(anything but sshd) in your .service file.

[Bug 1810239] Re: amd_iommu conflict with Marvell 88SE9230 SATA Controller

2019-06-08 Thread Johannes via ubuntu-bugs
Hi,
I had similar Problems with my Marvell 88EE9230. I was able to improve the
situation quite a lot by updating the firmware of the controller itself. In
General all firmware versions beyond version 2.3.xxx improved the situation
quite a lot. The remaining problem is, that I get failures on ata6 which is the
only port which is not connected to any drive at all. Any drive connected to
the marvell controller itself is perfectly stable (24/7 for +400 days).

[Bug 1832110] [NEW] Resource Sharing with multiple sshd services

2019-06-08 Thread Luke A. Perkins
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: 18.04.2 LTS
OpenSSH: 7.6p1

I am having a problem starting multiple sshd processes. The default
location of the sshd privilege separation directory is hard-coded to
/run/sshd (see man page). If I want to have 2 sshd services using
systemd, I need to write 2 service files, let's call them
sshd_wan.service ans sshd_lan.service. Both of these services need to
have their own "RuntimeDirectory=sshd_wan" and
"RuntimeDirectory=sshd_lan". If you do not have separate
RuntimeDirectory definitions for the 2 services, then when one service
is killed/faults/restarts/stops/etc. the systemd (or init) process
deletes the RuntimeDirectory and causes the other service to crash since
a RuntimeDirectory does not exist.

The problem is the hard-coding of the sshd Privilege Separation
Directory. We need to modify the OpenBSD/OpenSSH sshd code to provision
command line assignment of the privilege separation directory.

I have attempted to contact the OpenSSH team (i.e. OpenSSH.com) and they
say it is a Ubuntu problem. I reported this in Ubuntu bug #1831765 and
Ubuntu (e.g. Paride Legovini, June 6, 2019 @ 2:55AM PDT) rejected it
because I described the problem using the init.d example.

I know how to modify the sshd.c file in OpenSSH 7.6p1, the problem is
getting Ubuntu and OpenSSH to admit there is a problem and it needs to
be fixed.

The problem is still there regardless if you are using Upstart (i.e.
init.d) or systemd.

[Bug 1831666] Re: Add lsp-plugins to ubuntustudio-meta seed

2019-06-08 Thread Ross Gammon
Hi Erich,

It looks like you have manually added the packages to the meta package. I
cannot see commits in the seed repo, and I can't see them in the germinate
output either:
https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-dev/ubuntu-seeds/+git/ubuntustudio/+ref/eoan
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/germinate-output/ubuntustudio.eoan/all

First the packages need to be added to the seed:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuStudio/Seeds

Then, to update the meta package automatically, you run the ./update script.
This will use germinate to update debian/control for you (from the seeds), and
it will also take care of the changelog for you, although you will have to add
the bug numbers manually. You might have to revert your changes to the meta
package first. Here are the instructions (slightly out of date - as we always
use the git repo now):
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuStudio/UbuntuStudioPackageMaintenance#Meta_Package_Maintenance

You do actually have permission to upload yourself:
$ ubuntu-upload-permission --list-uploaders ubuntustudio-meta
All upload permissions for ubuntustudio-meta:

Component (universe)

* MOTU (motu) [team]

Packagesets
===

ubuntustudio:
* Ross Gammon (rosco2)

Per-Package-Uploaders
=

* Erich Eickmeyer (eeickmeyer)
* Kaj Ailomaa (zequence)
* Ross Gammon (rosco2)

You can upload ubuntustudio-meta to eoan.

But sing out if you need help.

packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1832101/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1489855] Re: Change to mount sequence order breaks persistence on casper-rw partitions

2019-06-08 Thread JoseStefan
I gave up on this bug. My workaround is to install a full system onto a
USB. 2 USBs required for the setup.

I create the boot media as per general instructions. Last time I used
Rufus.

And I set my target to 2nd empty USB, using the custom partition
options.

[Bug 1740116] Re: Touchpad incorrectly being detected by kernel as PS/2 mouse

2019-06-08 Thread seba
Hello
I have exactly same problem in Ubuntu 19.04 and Toughbook CF-19
5.0.0-16-generic
Because touchpad is detected as mouse i'm unable disable click while touching
touchpad (i want use only hardware keys)
This is make so hard to use, slightly touch while moving finger cause text to
be selected or item to be selected and moved... that make word processing or
simple tasks very inefficient.

I know it's a Year old bug report, but maybe some updates?
Maybe some dirty fix?
just to disable clicking by touch of touchpad?

I would greatly appreciate fix.

Regards

[Bug 1832105] [NEW] ceph-mgr Dashboard entirely broken in Disco

2019-06-08 Thread Harry Coin
Public bug reported:

If Ubuntu is really committed to ceph as I think I've been reading:
Notice the ceph dashboard went entirely broken in a major regression of
the disco upgrade. It won't load at all in 13.2.4+dfsg1-0ubuntu2.

The detail is ceph-mgr (and lots of ceph) relied on a non-feature in
cython that went away in cython v29, to do with sub-interpreters. The
ceph folks responded with a hack/workaround to avoid the bug being
noticed, and a requirement of the package for an earlier version of
cython. This was done some weeks and months ago. Actually fixing the
problem is a major project the ceph maintainers are struggling to
engage, perhaps waiting for later versions of cython to provide a
different way forward.

However, as of today, on disco ths error message remains:

Module 'dashboard' has failed dependency: Interpreter change detected -
this module can only be loaded into one interpreter per process.

The ceph primary development platform is Debian, on which the workaround
has been available for some time.

However in our ubuntu case, a major feature of a core packge (web
health/monitoring/config interface of a distributed file system), was
allowed to both ship broken and remain so for a long time, even through
today.

I urge quick attention to the necessary backports.

Just installed a fresh installation of ubuntu 19 on our server and we're

There is no really good indicaton why this is hapening.

Tried the following : disabled ipv6 (just to be sure), on nic set GSO,GRO,TSO
to off.
removed netplan, switched to systemd-networkd and added configurewithoutcarrier
to true, the option ignorecarrierlost is not accepted by systemd.

When I turn on and off the wifi several times, sometimes the bluetooth
does not work anymore.

The problem only seems partially solved.

[Bug 1784757] Re: rabbitmq-server does not properly shutdown

2019-06-08 Thread Alex Tomkins
Fixes in Debian packaging which also address the problem:

-
https://salsa.debian.org/openstack-team/third-party/rabbitmq-server/commit/9764f7e6ffeaa99325b8e5ff41e80b1c4b2894d3
-
https://salsa.debian.org/openstack-team/third-party/rabbitmq-server/commit/c5b99f5c4811f460b73c8c8505a98fa55dcd752b

If I start the server with just `service rabbitmq-server start`, my
process tree looks like:

rabbitmq 11316 0.0 0.1 4628 800 ?Ss 14:59 0:00 /bin/sh

However, doing `service epmd start` before that gives:

rabbitmq 12758 0.0 0.3 10384 1620 ?S15:01 0:00
inet_gethost 4

Which allows RabbitMQ to shutdown cleanly.

The service file probably needs dependency fixes.

[Bug 1576581] Re: New Firefox release hogging CPU

2019-06-08 Thread Paul White
Upstream bug #1349874 was closed "RESOLVED WORKSFORME" on 2017-03-23
with the implication that the problem was fixed in or around Firefox 55.

Now that Firefox 67 is the currently supported release in Ubuntu, is
there any reason for this bug report to remain open or can the issue
now be regarded as being fixed?
