[Bug 1817358] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 netboot installation failed during loading of installer component libc6-udeb

2019-06-17 Thread Zorlin
I am also having this issue with Ubuntu 16.04 using Foreman as a PXE
boot server. Works fine with Ubuntu 18.04.2 but wanted to have Ubuntu
16.04 as an option.

Failed for both "xenial" and "xenial-updates" releases.

These 4 patches didn't apply cleanly and needed manual merging. Nothing
too hairy though:

synchronize sync(2) against cgroup writeback membership switches

arm64: cpu_ops: fix a leaked reference by adding missing of_node_put

[Bug 1833161] [NEW] [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH, playback] No sound at all

2019-06-17 Thread Jean-Philippe Roberge
Public bug reported:

Hello to all,

My Ubuntu version is 18.04.02 LTS and I've setup a dual-boot with
windows 10. Speakers and audio jack work totally fine under Windows 10,
but they never work with Ubuntu.

List of some of the things I've tried:

1) I've tried all the steps from the "Sound Troubleshooting Procedure"
2) I've tried installing the "oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms" package;
3) I've tried to install/remove/reinstall alsa-base, alsa-utils, pulseaudio,
pavucontrol many times
4) I've played with the options in the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:
a) I've tried to add "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" and I also tried
different models: auto, clevo, laptop-eapd, clevo m-720, generic, basic and
even z71v position_fix=1.
5) I've tried adding :
Code:
[General]
description = Headphones + Digital Output (S/PDIF)
in the file "/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/iec958-stereo-output.conf"
6) I've even tried a live USB stick with Ubuntu 19.04 (after reading somewhere
that this was fixed on 19.04), but I found out that there was no sound on
Ubuntu 19.04 as well.

Also, you can find my ALSA information here: http://alsa-
project.org/db/?f=bcdf5c8be31ce8b9e848a29ef292e9125f26def0

Okay, that information was helpful.

I'm quite sure I did it right this time.  I assume the text I add (after
a space at the end of the command) is:

nopti

I hit F10 to boot with the command applied (an alternative to cntrl-x).
I needed that alternative because GRUB dumps you in qwerty layout, and I
DO NOT use qwerty.

With the parameter applied, it crashed (on the initial try).

So I don't think the nopti parameter makes any difference.

Again, after that, and specifying the old kernel (with no boot
parameter), it worked.

Aere

[Bug 1759950] Re: Lid-close suspend: blank screen when switching to user session

2019-06-17 Thread TJ
Yet more results changing the target once again!

I was able to reproduce the issue whilst using sddm which tends to
suggest lightdm may not be the cause.

I also managed to prove (not sure why this did not occur to me before
now!) that the DPMS state is being set 'off' when switching to the GUI
tty and 'on' when switching away.

In a console TTY I had:

$ while true; do grep .
/sys/class/drm/card0-LVDS-1/{dpms,enabled,status}; sleep 1; done

And then switched to the GUI and closed the lid. After resuming from
suspend and unlocking the GUI blanked. Switching to the console TTY
showed that whilst on the GUI TTY

dpms=off

which changes to

dpms=on

when switching away from it.

This tends to point pack towards xfce4-power-manager and upower since,
as I currently understand it, they specifically 'do' DPMS 'stuff'.

Certainly x-p-m has a lot of DPMS handling code and user-config
properties exposed.

[Bug 1576326] Re: Xdg .desktop, .directory and mimetype files missing in the package

2019-06-17 Thread carlix
Dear jre-phoenix,

We really apreciate your work and we encourage you to continue providing
the wine package, here is my opinion:

*Leave the wine package as it is

*When you would press launch in software-center it would open wine-cfg

*Fileroller it's by default after wine installation the program to open
exe files

*Give noobs the possibility of open wine by right click with desktop
mime associations

*If people choose to install wine they assume security risks and they
just want to use it (like windows users), if you want in the description
on software-center you can warn people about that

*As an example you can see how manjaro and solus manage wine
installation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmwZiF3Wm9c

*I know friends that ditched Ubuntu because they say that they cant use
wine and they choose other distros.

Thanks for your reply.

[Bug 1803924] Re: Gimp conflict with MyPaint

2019-06-17 Thread Erich Eickmeyer
@malix0 The MyPaint package is inherited from Debian. They typically do
not package alpha or beta packages, but only final releases since the
focus is on stability as opposed to having the latest thing. Therefore,
this is likely not to happen until MyPaint has released 2.0.0.

[Bug 1751268]

2019-06-17 Thread Ahabig
Bisecting is a manual process, since it's some option (or combination
thereof) enabled in Fedora's .config that's the problem rather than a
bad commit which git can help with.

You're right in that it's not drm-tip itself. In fact, while the
original weirdness manifested itself in drm, it also trashed the disk
controller. In the last couple stock fedora kernels (5.1.6 and 5.1.8),
the problem has shifted to the keyboard controller (or maye it's usb,
haven't disentabled it). So something in there is stomping on things it
shouldn't, and for the longest time, that was the video driver.

Since I'm now pretty certain it's not your bug, closing this one is
fine: I'll keep poking at it till I solve it, or until I finally upgrade
this T430, whichever comes first :)

[Bug 1833147] [NEW] hns: attempt to restart autoneg when disabled should report error

2019-06-17 Thread dann frazier
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Asking the driver to restart autonegotiation silently fails when autonegotation
has been disabled. It should report an error.

[Test Case]
sudo ethtool -s ethX autoneg off
sudo ethtool -r ethX

[Fix]
ed29ca8b95925 net: hns: Restart autoneg need return failed when autoneg off

[Regression Risk]
Fix is restricted to the hns driver, which is the driver for the nics on the
Hi1616 SoC. Regressions would therefore be limited to platforms using this SoC,
such as the HiSilicon D05 board.

2019-06-17 Thread Thomas Ward
** Description changed:

CVE-2019-12816 addresses a remote code execution and privilege

[Bug 1833001] Re: openssl should register libraries/restart-without-asking template or handle gracefully when it is missing

2019-06-17 Thread Javier López
I can confirm this affects the bionic-updates 1.1.1-1ubuntu2.1~18.04.2
package, therefore a backport to bionic and other affected releases will
be required
